desperate replied to desperate's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Bout my luck, thought I'd ask before I just started pulling things apart. thanks for the help and the saved headache, unless i can get my hands on an xt6 flywheel for the wagon I'm unfortunatly kinda stuck on swappin the flywheel out. but they are both ea82's -
I've got a push button 4wd turbo wagon with a good clutch in it, and 2wd n/a loyale that needs a clutch, can i pu the wagon clutch in the loyale or are the drivtrains to different? thanks in advance Anthony

desperate replied to manxsta's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
cast pistons a rings you shoudl be able to get just about any auto parts store. if you want forged pistons, http://www.ramengines.com no experiance with them yet, but I'll be ordering the parts rebuild my ea82t very soon -
Please help diagnose my friends dead twagon
desperate replied to Vanislru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if its turning over but nor starting, there is a resistor under the ignition coil, try replacing that. I had the same problem with my loyale, took me 2 weeks to find the problem. I don't know if you can find the resistor in a store, i had to buy one from someone on the boards -
I'm planing on doing an ej22t swap later this year, would it even be worth trying to upgrade the ea motor with an intercooler and those upgrades or should I just save the money from it and put it towards the motor swap?
-
i was planning on running about 5 psi until about 500 miles or so on the rebuild, then turn it up to 7 or 8 and leave it there until i get an intercooler rigged up
-
fresh rebuilt ea82t(new internals, etc), was just trying to find out so i know what to set the mbc for. I know I have to break the motor in, should I run lower boost during break in or turn it up to 8-9 psi like it will be run before I get an intercooler fabb'd up?
-
I ran a search and couldn't find what i was looking for. How much oost can be pushed on a stock ea82t with out a intercooler, How much can be pushed after a front mount is made? Anthony

If I'm doing an EJ swap, would any EJ trans bolt up? I don't have a problem finding blocks, just the tranny to go with them. if the trans get swapped out with the EJ, would I need drive shafts and a new rear end? I know the front axles won't be the same.
-
I just bought a 87 gl-10 turbo wagon. Its in great shape out side. motor runs, but burns a fair amount of oil. I have my loyal to drive so the wagon it now the project car. Can I swap out the trans for a dual range 5spd full time awd drive trans with the locking center diff? it has a part time awd 5spd in it now. How difficult would it be to do it, and If I'm doing a EJ20 or EJ22 block swap into it, would the trans still bolt up or would it require a new trans at that point? Anthony

Dylan86GL10: you selling all that or putting it in your car?

Gas tank removal on a 87 Gl-10.
desperate replied to Gl-boost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
would a gas tank from a 86 GL 4wd wagon fit in a 2wd 91 Loyale sedan? -
/\ +1
-
86 Subaru and Stumpy, how much you want for your tank? I'm goin to call the junkyard tomorrow, but i doubt they will have one in decent shape.
-
sorry bout that, was in a hurry. problem fixed
-
I found the other day my gas tank has a leak. closer inspection it has several little pin holes that have rusted through, I tried to use jb weld after properly preppin the surface, and it still leaks like a ***************. I found several new tank, but they are 250+. Thought I'd consult the forums and see if any one knew of a place with better prices. Anthony EDIT: its a 91 loyale 5spd, front wheel drive 1.8L motor
-
I think my loyale would weird with 16's or 17's on it. I think for the 3500 bux I'd put into the swap I'll just save it, and buy a used STi come this time next year.
-
I had already thoguht about the brakes, think I'm goin to take a set of stock rotors to a machine shop and have them cross drilled and slotted. How much bigger are WRX cailpers form a loyale?
-
I've got a 91 Loyale FwD 5spd. I'm sure you all know these things are severly underpowerd. My options, sell the car and try to find something better, or the one i like more, put a EJ22T into my engine bay. Been done? Difficulty? especially in wiring department. I'd like to keep the car on 13's, convert it to AWD. easier to buy a donor car or just buy motor trans and wiring? thanks Anthony

Cool, thanx on the resistor, The latch on the gas door is fine, i need the cable that runs from the floor beside the drivers seat back to the trunk, it won't open my trunk or the gas door, i pull the lever and nothing happens, i cant even tell if the cable is moving Anthony -

I had a simalar problem with my loyale, changed the valve cover gaskets and when to move it the next day and it would turn over but not start. Not sure if it would matter while its running, but there is a resistor under the ignition coil, thats what went bad on mine. Anthony
