  1. The constant low-volume buzz sound I've gotten used to is now fluctuating when I put on my turn signals. Is this a sign that my alternator is going?
  2. Like I said, I'm not saying buy one, just pointing it out. Your post said "I know no one makes one", so I figured you hadn't seen it. I'm lookin' to point mine the way of the fender-well, away from the engine bay. I have a Sub-master certified mech. that I bring my car to, and he laughs at everything I tell him that I read here. I try to stress to him that with 85-90 hp, every little bit counts.
  3. OK, I took my oil pumper from JCWhitney, hooked it to the core and pumped CLR thru it into a bucket. Nah, just kidding, but would that work ya think?
  4. Yeah, I guess the hood would be lighter. Sorry. Damn, that would probably work cool. If you do it, post some pics or something.
  5. Interesting. My core is pretty clogged too. Does it leave any residue? How does it react with rubber? I hear that GD, with my luck I'd get CLR spraying all over my interior.
  6. That's too cool. Peelin' that snice back like only a Ru could! Upstairs at the roasters? Man, and all I have to look forward to is a can of Folgers.
  7. Dude, that would be cool! I f-ing hate that too. OK, I'm being way too enthusiastic about this. That does sound cool though. You think those can hold that up? Might need some stronger ones.
  8. Hey, they don't list everything they stock. I submitted a request thru their site for the part number stated by Asavage, and they (Jason) replied that they had one for $70 or so. Also, do a few searches on the web for used Subaru parts, and email some requests for your part.
  9. I don't want to butt in, but there is someone that makes an intake for an XT. I'm not sayin' you should buy one, but it is cool to see that someone actually makes stuff for our cars. Check it out. http://www.subspeed.com/TurboIntake.htm
  10. Here's a thread on the same subject. http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3953&highlight=%2Asolenoid%2A I located a few used(tested) ones for around $20-$40, and using the part number given by Asavage in that thread, a new one for around $70. Sorry, I don't know anything about the functionality of the part though.
  11. Look at the Brats in the pics on this page. I think I soiled myself. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=431355 Make sure you scroll down the whole page, there's a couple Brat's in there that are insane!
  12. Has anyone ever tried one of these? http://www.importperformanceparts.net/toga/toga_oilpumpssubaru.html
  13. Do a search on the web for used subaru parts. Put in a couple of email parts requests and you should be able to find one. I found a tested used one for $20, but before I got around to ordering it , my hard drive took a dump. I'm not sure what place I got the quote from. The quotes I got on used ones ranged from $20-$45 if I remember correctly. Also, check out these threads - http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3953 http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4306&highlight=purge+solenoid If you buy from the dealer, try using the part number Asavage gives in his post (Subaru Part #14774AA101). It costs almost half as much as the original listed part.
  14. I had new timing belts put on my car about 2 months ago. Yesterday I was changing my fuel filter and noticed that the green connectors (the ones you connect to set timing) and the small black and small green connectors (test mode?) were all still connected! It's been running as well as it was before so I just never noticed. My question is, could any damage have occurred because of this? I must have driven at least a thousand miles with it like this.:-\
  15. I've wanted some of those since I first saw 'em. Oh well.:boohoo:
  16. My car started making a mild chirping/squeaking noise that I thought was a belt, but I noticed today that it stops when I rest my foot on the clutch. Just lightly pressing on it. The closest thread I could find in a search was from the "new gen" board. Someone mentioned that an adjustment might take care of it. Has anyone had this problem with their EA82?
  17. I just fixed mine the other day. Took about 30 minutes. Push the endcap down until you see the locking pin. Get a nail or something and punch it thru. Now do the other side too. Roll it up all nice and square and keep it like that. Throw a couple big rubber bands on it or have someone hold it. Get some vise-grips or pliers and twist one of the ends up until it has some good tension on it. Have someone hold the tension while you attach the opposite endcap. Your'e gonna have to guess about how much tension to put on the spring. I twisted it up moderately tight and it works fine. Once the one endcap is on, you can release the vise-grips, and put the other endcap back on. Done. If I had a workbench and a punch it probably would only take 15 minutes or so. I did it in my kitchen with a nail, some pliers, and a few beers.
  18. I was going to check my timing yesterday, and my Subaru manual says to connect the green connectors and turn the idle switch on. I see the green connectors, but where's the idle switch at?
  19. I got one like that off ebay. Its ripped out of a collision repair guide like a body shop would have. Yeah, it's cool for $3.50. Helpful when you go on a site like 1stSubaruParts or something like that.
  20. Whenever I hit a steep grade, and I have to floor it , exhaust starts stankin' things up.Not a leak. What's my problem? Is the kitty toast? O2 sensor? Oh, um 87 gl wagon 4wd spfi
