  1. there is a lot of good people with good knowldge here, hope you dont need them. congrats on your pick.
  2. the reason not to put them on the rear is that the front is 90-95 percent of your drive,if you put them on the rear you would have to spin the front tires to get the rear to drive.
  3. man this has been kicked around forever, heres the most likley causes--fuse in holder[should have a light on dash that says [fwd] if thats not on the fuse is out.2clutch pack worn,3 selonoid bad. heres how mine acts, when front wheels start to spin fairly fast the rear kicks in and moves the car,if it stays ingaged i dont know.
  4. after thinking about this, is the engine in tune? that is activated by throttle position,if the engine is not up to par the trans is sensing a lot of throttle which is going to kick it down. will it kick down off the throttle?
  5. as i understand it there is 2 selonoids in there 2-3 3-4 sounds like the band is good but maybe the selonoid is not allowing it to shift, supposed to be able to change with pan off. if this isnt right somebody will tell us. ed
  6. are you sure its not torqeconverter to 4th? may be the torqeconverter not staying locked in.
  7. keep in mind that these cars are no different than any others, when something is broke it needs fixed.
  8. no i dont work for autozone,i seen this post all day and nobody attempted to answer,so that was the first link i found.
  9. not a good idea, may cost more than a tow if you make it all the way home,i would beg a trailer somehow.
  10. arent syncros brass? wasnt these designed to slow down the motion ,dosent there have to be some friction here? just thinking.
  11. you know this has to be a air leak, spray some wd40 around the air box and see if you can isolate it to one particular area.
  12. more than likley your valve cover gaskets are leaking, the oil will drip and run down on the exhaust.
  13. try to center punch the bolt before you drill, start with smallest bit that wont break.dont think there is a miracle cure.
  14. if i understand this ,now you have a fast idle? sounds like coolant temp to me.
  15. my guess would be the main shaft coming off the wiper motor is stripping, when the pressure gets to much it slips, when you slow down the pressure is not as bad.
  16. my 91 2.2 makes this sound cold ,for the most part goes away hot, still has lifter noise even when hot but at 242,000 i guess its old enough to make it.
  17. if your thermostat is closed no fluid will flow,i have drove cars with low radiator and still had no heat, the car will not heat up even with low coolant but the heater wont blow hot. ed
