Yes, www.car-part.com came up with nothing, and a random call to the nearest body shop in town quoted $600-$700 to replace the bumper, They didn't want to do just paining. They do not exactly have a reputation of the cheap place... WIll call other places around. My insurance deductable is $500, so I decided no tot claim it, and try to fix myself as much as possibleI Already down ~$150 fixing washer pump, and replacing fender liner and the bottom plastic shield. I thought I could get away, keeping the old bumper, but cracks turned out larger than I saw first, and they seem to be growing. Covered with duck tape for now, hope it stalls the cracks from growing. Will have to shop around local junkyards. Any good places in NJ? -michael Is 2013 Legacy a match?

Need to replace front bumper cover. 1) Is taking old one out and putting new one as simple as on the previous gen - just few clips around the bottom and at the top? It does look like it. 2) dealers sell them, but it is not clear whether they are primed? painted? What's involved in painting one? It is twilight blue metallic (H1Q)? Is metallic extra challenge? If there was a way to get one already painted my color code I'd prefer going that way? Thanks, -Michael

Thanks for the tip, found the site, but it doesn't find the thing. keyword search doesn't bring anything. It has body panels, but not trim. What is the proper word for this part? Looked at it agian at daylight this morning, it looks like there are some clips running from the bottom, and it is also hanging on the clips running along the side of the rocker panels.

Thanks guys. Getting a new 2014 Legacy Premium. What is the good source for wheels? I may end up getting 16'' steelies for winter tires. Is TPS an issue when going with the other set of rims? Do I have to buy another set of sensors, or is there a way to keep the TPS brains quite without the sensors?

I had my 2011 Legacy 2.5i premium with 16'' wheels. Unfortunately it was totaled, and I am now looking for replacement. Hate to go with 17'', but it looks like 17'' is the only option for 2.5i Premium now. Will 16'' wheels still fit on the later than 2011 Model year, and this is just Subaru marketing, or is there a reason why only 17'' wheels are specified, perhaps larger brakes? -Michael

I just ordered replacement harness from Liberty Subaru. Another option would be to re-crimp new connector that goes on the bulb, not sure if I could find a new one. It goes on the H3 that is used for low-beams and DRL. I think 95' is different design. Of all the car, I guess the headlights are specifically designed to US spec - and they are absolutely horrible. While the rest of the wiring in the car is in a fairly nice shape so far, the headlight wiring is clearly under-specified the insulation started crumbling and melting away after about a year into cars life.

I've managed to find that magic tab and disconnect the part from the bottom, but in order to replace the headlight harness I'd need to take out the top part, and it is fastened to the black plastic wall. I pried it a bit, it loosened but did not come out. Before I do more damage - is there a magic trick of taking it out, or is it just supposed to be forced out and get disposed and is replaced as part of the new headlight harness?

Thanks for the advice guys, if there is a way to replace it, I'd rather try it, do you remember what is the official name of that harness? I tried to pull the top up, I'll try to pull the bottom part out. There is indeed something that may be a "tab" on this connector, it's a bit cruddy there, does this tab just have to be pushed in from the outside, or pried out with a screwdriver? I was thinking of crimping, not soldering. I know how to solder, but I am not very good at it. I can get a good crimper at work, but I'd have to take the wiring out. I am familiar with liquid tape, had to deal with it applied by the previous owner on my old Volvo... It's a good product, but leaves a mess, as you mentioned - once you open the jar, if it's not used - it's a waste. I'd rather like a shrink tubing, you just have to make sure that the right size is used. -Michael

They do go out intermittently, one at a time. Just re-plugging the bulb, or sometimes even a gentle wack on the headlight brings it back. The crimped connector to the bulb is crappy - insulation is crumbled, oxidation, etc.. Contact cleaner brings some temporary relief, but it's obvious that piece of a wiring harness, or at least the bulb plug has to be replaced. How can I take that harness piece out? There is a white plastic thingy, that holds harness to the body, and looks like a connector (see pics attached), but I cannot figure out how to disconnect it. Any help is greatly appreciated... -Michael

I've been installing a new stereo (JVC KD-R618) in my 02'Legacy GT Wagon, replacing the original P119 unit. Everything works great, but seems that there is no sound from the rear speakers. Fader moving to the rear speakers -just sound goes away. I connected back the original unit with all the original wiring - same thing. I doubt it is related to my install, or the new harness that I made for the new stereo. I am afraid it's actually been like this for a while, and went unnoticed. I did not drive this car a lot lately. I have this car since new. It's a original factory radio, no upgrades no amplifier under the pass. seat, but IIRC - there are rear speakers from the factory. Is there a fuse, or may be a ground that was busted while something else was done on the car? Thanks, -Michael

I just did test drive a very nice CPO 07' Legacy wagon with AT, and that was precisely the reason why we did not buy it... I am afraid, it is a problem with the way it is tuned and geared by design, I've seen it before in a similar model Legacy loaner both were low miles, , that I've got when my 02' was in for service, and the same in the brand new that I test-drove... The engine does not seem to be starved of anything - it revs up to 4k rpm, but the thing just does not move, trans is slipping. If it was a manual, I'd say the clutch was slipping. The 2010 Outback with CVT that I had a achance to drive as a loaner did not have it, very nicely geared actually... Just my $0.02.... HTH Btw - is 6cyl. OBW suffering from the same problem...???
