  1. PA is a good sign that his new baby is traveling well Paul, see what these Soobs can do and they call us crazy !?
  2. Thanks Paul, but everything I've learned has come from you and all the crazies like us on the board !!!
  3. you may have to slip a twenty to parts man to let you "take a walk back". I found the only tools I've needed was a screw driver with multi tips in the handle, adjustable wrench , robo grips and a plastic bag to lay on.
  4. Mary, which Brat are you looking for parts for the Gen 1 or 2 ?
  5. Yes I had a great day at the salvage yard. I was walking through the foreign cars section and what do I see but a blue 83 Brat before my eyes. Yes folks it's true, there she was pretty as a picture. I went through it pretty well and found a mirror, interior light etc.... This brat has an EA81 in it with d/r tranny. Would that fit in my 1980 EA71 Brat? It gets better, hold on to your hats. Just when I thought I was done for the day the owner comes to me and tells me that he was getting ready to crush 2 more Brats !!! Noooooooooooooooooooooo I say to him.I will go back down first thing Monday to do a full inspection and post in case you guys and gals need anything.By the way the first Brat is Blue inside too. Ok so now I know my day couldn,t get any better but it does !!!As I was leaving I spotted something out of the corner of my eye, could it be true? Is that a Peugeot I see?? Yes, yes it is. A beautiful 1991 505 with all wheels and tires intact, alloy with perfect center caps and a spare tire too. Whew, this was truly a Soobie Do Da Day!!! If anyone wants me to look for parts for you let me know before Monday morning. Thanks Trudy:brow:
  6. I am about to lose it with my new 80 Brat !!! Any advise on the following issues would be sooooo appreciated, either she's getting fixed right or I'm going to make a planter out of her !! 1. rpm's at 4k while warming up and I have to pound the gas pedal to make it go down to 2k rpm's which takes at least 5 minutes then another 5 minutes to get her down to 1200 rpm's , it's cold in Vermont in the winter and I don't want to sit out there babysitting . 2. there is a plumbing shut off valve on the heater hose going into the firewall, whats with that??? 3.someone put a glasspack (sp) muffler on it that really sounds like sh-t and tailpipe sticks out just in front of drivers side rear tire, very tacky, anyone know where I can get an exhaust sytem for this? 4.steam coming out of drivers side defrost vent, I guess thats a heater core? 5. cold air rushing in from all vents facing driver and pass. car as a/c controls on dash but nothing under the hood.I don't need a/c but would like to fix the air flow problem before next winter. Please someone help before I do something drastic. Trudy
  7. I'd be interested in buying the jump seats
  8. Well, i found out that I don't have a hill holder soooooo I guess I'm looking for another master cylinder. It's the only thing I can think of because I went through the whole system again after everyone's suggestions, re-bled everything and again this time it dragged after about 10 miles. Total frustration !!!! Thanks for all the help! Trudy
  9. When I bought the Brat the old owner put a new master cylinder in. He said it needed calipers because the front brakes dragged and you had to release the pressure by opening the bleeder valve on the master cyl. Anyway I got the Brat home and installed new calipers, pads, rear shoes and cylinders, bled the system and everything worked great, about 10 miles later front brakes dragged so bad that the brat wouldn't go over 20 MPH. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, all I want to do is drive my new Brat. Thanks Trudy
  10. It only backfires while cold. P.S. I own the shop and the tech works for me so that should make it okay to be in the garage Ha Ha .
  11. Bump Any suggestions guys, the Brat is in the garage right now waiting for some help !!!!!
  12. Hi, I have the 1980 Brat ea71 and am having some problems. It backfires when I try to kick down the RPM's while it's warming up and first starting out on the road. Any suggestions on where to start to fix the backfiring would be appreciated. Thanks Trudy
  13. Happy Birthday Paul !!! Go have a blast and buy yourself something nice , Marge aka Trudy
  14. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to bid on the 1980 Brat on e-bay tonight. I have been waiting patiently for one to come up that is in my area. Thanks guys, Trudy (hey Paul sorry I didn't get back to you, I'll make a trip over soon)
  15. WOW!!!! I usually try not to envy other people's things but damn!!!
  16. Ok lets see if I can confuse the matter some more. Does all this mean that my 82 Gl wagon is a 2nd Generation ea-82?
  17. I was searching in my barn for a straight pin or something similar to clean the end of my windshield washer sprayer when I found an old style spark plug gap tool. It has several sized "L" shaped do-hickeys and they worked great for cleaning the tips. Just thought I'd pass this tip on !!
  18. I took Lola to the local mechanic and he hooked this fancy little gadget to the battery and to the blower motor and was able to turn the blower on for brief periods thus elimnating the blower as the problem. Once I found out that it wasn't the blower I stopped him from going any further, just that little bit cost me $35.00 . Anyway, now I know it is either the switch, fuse or a short. I say short because my rear defroster button light works only when jigged and doesn't defrost when it does light !! Will be doing the basic "follow the wire" bit tomorrow.Any advise before hand would be appreciated. Thanks everyone for your great response
  19. Thanks MDD, at least I know what it looks like now!! :brolleye:
  20. MDD that is a great site for info however I need to know which of the two boxes is the blower and where the other fuse is. Please someone help a girl out ... thank you for the info!!
  21. My 82 GL (LOLA) needs some help. With all the snow we have had up here I decided to get her ready for winter and while checking the heat I found that the blower motor isn't working at all. I replaced the fuse at box but that wasn't it. I removed the panel below the glove box and found two different black boxes? (I have a/c) and have no idea where to go from here. I was told there is another fuse but I don't know where that is . Basically I have the will but not the knowledge of what to do next. Any help would be appreciated!!!!
  22. There must be a lock Gremlin going around the country because mine froze the other day !!!
  23. There is a car near Newport Vermont with those on it. But it is a Sidekick!!!
