I do most of my own work and my brother and I just change the evap in my mothers 95 caravan. She was quoted 1200 bucks for to replace hers. From what I have read and understand from all the AC posts here a sub is easier. Hopefully Legacy777 will chime in at some point. He seems to be the AC goto guy here.

I have had my 93 for about 6 yrs now and shortly after I got it I had it up to around 118-120 and the front was getting a little light and I was running out of road. I don't have a clue what the rpms were, -
once again I have loosened and retightened the ac belt, checked all voltage from the battery (car off) the relays, and the output at the compressor plug. All are 12-13 volts. The guy I had helping me noticed that it appeared to be the whole belt slipping so now I am going out to check the adjustment pully for any resistance

door locks

do you have a remote starter? My sisters van used to lock itself all the time untill they took out the remote starter. -
Hopefully someone can help. I have a 93 Legacy wagon 2.2 146,000 miles and I just replaced the compressor. I was able to use a zexel off a 95. Bolted up identical. The AC works awsome, but know I get a squeel. Sometimes breifly and others it takes a couple of minutes. My question Knowing that the clutch is magnectic, could I possibly have a weak altinator? not allowing a full grab or would it be a clutch going bad? What I have already done Replaced shot compressor with one from a 95 new belts - adjusted a couple of times, thought I had it, was real bad, now intermittent after getting system filled had a problem getting power to the compressor, jumped it and worked fine, played with the relays and really don't know what I did, but it works. What should I have for amps / volts at the compressor and relays coming from the alt? Any ideas? Thanks, Jim

On my 93, I jumped the wire coming off the compresser to the positive on the battery to make sure mine was working. I played with the relays and it finally works like it should. On your 97 I dont know how many wires you have on the compressor. From my experience, sub used two different styles/brands. calsonic & zexal Hopefully Legacy will check in. He seems to be the guy to go to for a/c info. Jim

Why dont subes have free-wheeling hubs

The biggest thing I have heard around here were I am at with the auto lockers is the electric drive motor that ingages the transfer case. Usually strips the gears out and from a few mechs that I know., its mostly from lack of use that does it. I dont know how my AWD really works but I love it. I have drove around trucks stuck in the snow. All I do is let the front spin slightly untill the rear kicks in and away I go. -
UPDATE: The 95 A/c compressor will work. I finally got it on and out to the shop. After hooking up everything and starting a vac check, the tech said"Well that's a good sign" I asked him what he ment and he ststed that it pulled 28lbs of vac real quik. After the cycle, we put in 1.99lbs of 134 and then could not get the clutch to kick on (later to find out that the relay needed to be reset) Now it will freeze you out of the back seat. Now I have a problem with the clutch squeels for about a minute when it kicks on. Is there anyway to lube the clutch? I just fixed it and don't really want to have to go through it again. Thanks, Jim
