  1. Checker auto seems to have an incomplete list. Went into one for plugs for my XT6, and for the year 88, the 6 wasn't listed. Said, let's try an 89. Nope, no 6 listed for an 89 either. Let's try a 90, hey! Its listed for a 90. Wait, they never made an XT in the year 1990...
  2. Bumper sticker would be so much better an idea
  3. You can do it, but it is difficult and tricky. I mean I made it up to the loom, and spliced in there. Never went through the rubbery thing into the door panel. There aren't any electronics (except maybe power windows?) that would cause any real interference.
  4. I know how you feel. We have lights using the same bulb as the street lights all around my campus, and there's one that when I'd walk out of the building, it was off, then as I walk by it, it'd turn on. I was weirded out by it. Sat in my car one night watching it though, and learned it would pretty much be on for two minutes, then turn off for like 10 minutes. It was a coincidence that every time I walked by it, it came on.
  5. Isn't it 84HP? I think SPFI was 90. Chances are if its old, you're not actually pushing that.
  6. Replace the speaker wire running from the head unit to the speakers with a twisted pair (Monster makes some great stuff for this). Should help cancel out the noise. Factory wiring in old cars usually works okay, but its usually pretty thin stuff, and very prone to picking up noise. I ended up replacing the speaker wires up to the door loom in my XT6 because of this reason. Same problem, brand new headunit, brand new speakers, and the driver's side picked up static when the car was running. Bought a roll of the monster stuff (not very cheap...), and its gone.
  7. 140? Hm. My FWD XT6 seemed to top out at about 125~130. Much better than my Toyota I had before the XT6, maxed out at 110 (which was also redline in 5th gear).
  8. D'oh, its easy to do. Remove radiator caps Place a bucket or something to catch the coolant under the drain plug on the radiator Remove the drain plug, and wait. Filling back up is, you guessed it, the opposite. Put the drain plug back in Pour the mix of 50/50 until at max Keep the radiator cap off, start the engine, let it warm up and watch the coolant swirl and the level drop Top off the coolant Put the radiator caps back on.
  9. I bought my car with the Hankook's on them. I'm not very impressed. They don't grip as well as I think they should. Kumhos are actually pretty good for the price. Try them out. I had a set of Kumho Solus KH16s on my Toyota, and they were pretty good.
  10. I don't know where the thermostat housing is on your car (I don't own an EA-82 car, I have an XT6), but the steps are fairly simple: Drain the coolant Take the bolts off the thermostat housing Remove the old thermostat, and the thermostat gasket Put the new thermostate and gasket in the same way the old one came out put the thermostat housing back together Fill it back up with coolant Not too difficult... Google's really helpful on these simple things. Here's a link to some directions found on google. Seem to cover everything. Maybe somebody can correct me on anything?
  11. I think a lot of people do that. I did that in my XT6, turned the key on, ran to the trunk, connected the wires, went back to the seat, and thought "Why isn't my CEL light blinking or something?"
  12. I'm curious if it would be possible to just run the power steering in a reduced mode all the time and eliminate the need for a speed sensor or column sensor? This way you don't have the constant current draw of it running at full speed. I'm a strong guy, I could turn the wheel with the P/S running slower if at a stop.
  13. Yeah, definitely do not play with heat. Pull out the thermostat and see if that's the culprit.
  14. Do you have questions left unanswered? It looks like they were answered...
  15. I don't think something like this could be done on the typical "college budget". My "college budget" barely even allots me the money I need for my weekly gas, much less enough money to turbo a justy :-p
  16. Forgive me if I'm wrong, I beleive all GL-10s are turbo. Also, looking at a few websites, it seems that 5 speed was only available on 4WD GL-10 Wagons. Somebody wanna confirm this?
  17. I wouldn't say always get better fuel milage. Especially since the 4EAT slush box locks up in 2nd and above. (Does the 3AT do this too?) With the really low overdrive ratio on the 4EATs compared to the manuals, and the fact some of the 4EATs have lower final drive than the manuals, you can get superb gas milage on the highway. The whole manual vs automatic debate is purely personal preference.
  18. My guess is your brake fluid has never been changed. Moisture built up in brake fluid (and is usually more prevelant in the winter) can trick the brake fluid sensor and cause it to come on. Try changing the brake fluid.
  19. Could have been me, or I work with a guy who drives a white XT also. He drives slow though, so it was probably me you couldn't keep up with. My darn lead foot. Lucky me has never had a speeding ticket
