  1. Has anyone just completely removed the digidash, cut a piece of metal the right size, and slap some analog gauges on? I think that'd be freaking sweet.
  2. The height controll button was available in canadian models (and possibly other places?), but not in the US.
  3. Hah! I'm going to Iowa this weekend too. Gonna be in Ames. I'm part of Kappa Kappa Psi and there's a district convention there. If I wasn't gonna be busy all weekend with fraternity stuff, I'd love to come look at the car with you. It'd be way more fun than what I'm gonna get stuck doing there. I was trying to avoid heading to Iowa, but since our colony is paying for the funds to get the group of us out there, I have no excuse.
  4. Pull n save, but Noss already got it.
  5. I looked at my FSM for 1988 Subaru XT. For the 1800cc XT: Regular Pressure: 142 PSI Relief and working pressure: 853-1067 PSI For the XT6 w/ Electric P/S pump: Regular Pressure: 142 PSI Relief and working pressure: 967-1067 PSI I'm not sure what those values mean, but I'm sure you do. I'd be willing to bet that the XT uses the same p/s pump as other EA-82s. The XT6 has an electric power steering pump with varying pressure called the 'cybrid' system. If you use the XT6 power steering pump, make sure you use a bottle of the special power steering fluid straight from the dealership designed for these. ATF eats away at the seals. Here's a thread discussing similar conversions
  6. Go with the XT6 steering wheel. I think it looks sweet.
  7. Some GL-10s do. An 87 GL-10 had one at the junkyard yesterday.
  8. You probably could do it for a while, but then you're gonna ruing your engine. Think, cracked head or something. Invest the money into doing the headgaskets, and save yourself money in the long run.
  9. Most likely a broken radio. Go to wal-mart and pick up a cheapie to toss in.
  10. Actually, part of the reason why diesel engines get away without emissions testing is because diesel engines really burn cleaner. There's isn't nearly as much CO or HC output, only slightly more NOx and SOx. What makes disel engines seem so nasty, is they have a high particulate output. Cleaner diesel fuels, ultra low sulfer diesels, and biodiesels are making them run more cleaner than they ever have before.
  11. I predict winner of burnout contests in the future
  12. That's freaking amazing. If I had interested in painting mine, that'd definitely be one of my considerations!
  13. jeff: are you a street racer? /me ponders the need for 350HP
  14. Wow, your inspections are pretty rigorous aren't they...Colorado is very lenient on inspections. They just check for pollution problems these days. They take your car, run it on a dyno with a cup over your tail pop to catch the exhaust, and make sure all the levels are with in acceptable values. They'll even pass cars with structural rust and crap. You guys must not have many junk cars being driven around.
  15. You could always run some tubing up to right below the windshield, put some plastic caps on 'em, and poke a hole. Not as good as the stock, but would work well. Or go to a junkyard, and find another subaru, or some other car with similar windshield washers. You can easily rig something.
  16. Sweet looking brat and XT. Good deal on that XT.
  17. The sprayers for the windshield should be right underneath hood by the windshield. You should have two sprayers, each with two holes.
  18. The pump is located on the inside front right wheel well. Pull of the wheel, and take off the inside lining, and you'll find your tank and pump there. Maybe a loose hose or something's corroded that's causing it to spray out of the wheel well?
  19. You sure the smell of 'rubber' isn't the smell of burnt oil? The two are fairly similar. You could be dripping oil onto your exhaust manifold, which is like uber hot, and burning the oil up before it touches the ground. That could be where your oil is going? Might be worthwhile to check it out.
  20. My XT6's auto seat belts are broken too. I'm used to it by now (but all my passengers say wtf when they try to bukcle). I've got it down to one swift maneuver with buckling both the lap and shoulder belts.
