EA81 hatches go for a nice drive in the mountains...
Way cool pics. Yes, but wagons have hatches too

Quick answer - EA81 (carbed, this time)
You'd be okay driving it, but, if at any point in time, you feel uncomfortable to drive it further, stop and don't risk it. I'd rather pay for a tow bill than to pay for a new engine.

Noob Timing Question
If you didn't touch the distributor, you'll be fine. Its driven off of the driver's side cam, so if the cam is in time and the distributor was before hand, you're fine.

Serious leak help fast
Depending on the crack, a machine shop might be able to fix it. Your best bet might be going to a junk yard, pulling a set of heads and having them checked out by a machine shop.

What a night..Project Cheap *Almost* gets stolen
That's crazy. I've had cars broken into when they were in Englewood, but have never had one lick of trouble since I moved to Golden. Maybe I'll wire up a hidden killswitch on my XT.

Temperature sensor?????
mikeshoup replied to RisSanSubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXTake out the thermostat and toss it in a pot of boiling water to make sure its opening up. Sounds like its sticking and not flowing coolant to the radiator.

Swap 1.8MPFI with XT6 motot?????
You will need the wiring harness (or at least a part of it). Remember, the XT6 has two extra injectors. You will also need the ECU from an XT6. This would require a lot of fab work and probably relocation of the radiator. If you've ever looked at an XT6, then at an XT, you'll see the XT6's radiator is moved forward quite far to accomidate the larger engine. Good luck.

Anyone rig their lights to a toggle switch?
Why not put the lights on a relay and have them powered off of the battery with their own fuse?

Any thoughts on seat swaps?
May want to look for XT seats... those would probably be easier to swap in, and they fit me great. (I'm 250lbs and 6') Everyone says that they feel better than the rest (I wouldn't know, never really sat for long in any other).

Meet for the old skool' subies of colorado and surrounding area?
Hey, I'll come over to help with painting what I can as long as we can squeeze in some time to work on my car. We could get operose over too and make a party of it.

small control box i.d?
Pictures and where you found them would be most helpful.

I'm up for it if I can find a ride to wherever we're going (or if its close enough to ride my bicycle)

1986 subaru xt turbo
Love my XT Turbo. Keep it stock, and it will be very reliable. One thing to watch out for, is make sure the air suspension (if equipped) is in 100% working condition. It is expensive to fix, and usually cheaper to just convert to conventional stuff. Also, the digital dash (if equipped) is a pita to read during the day with sunglasses on. Otherwise its pretty neat.

How many of you have low mileage EA82T.
I thought these cars came off the boats with at least 100K on them...

what will make the 3at shift to early, or not down shift to first.
There's no adjustable cable on the automagics.

Running on 3 Cylinders at idle
I'm almost positive its a head gasket now. Pulled the dipstick and it was covered in milkshake, and I had to fill the radiator up about 3/4 a gallon before it was at top.... So, uh, do any of the colorado guys wanna show me how to do headgasket?

Running on 3 Cylinders at idle
So, today after driving around, I parked my car, and noticed it was idling very roughly and had what looked like steam coming out my tailpipe. After a little investigation, turned out cylinder #3 wasn't firing or something. I haven't tested to see if the spark plug is sparking, but there's a spark when I pull the cable off the distributor cap. The engine doesn't seem to run rough once I bring it above about 1000rpm. At least, it feels like all 4 cylinders are firing. Is this a bad HG? I noticed the coolant level was definitely low.

1992 loyale 4x4- HELP!?
That's the same deal with the 4wd D/R trannys here. Its only the S/R 4WD trannys that are push button.

strange overheat:new water pump, thermostat and good radiator - SOLVED
Is the thermostat still in when you check for flow? Seems to me that the thermostat would closed, restricting flow out of the housing when its cold. Even though its brand new, the thermostat could be stuck. Tried testing it with the old boiling water in a pan trick yet?

Just purchased 1988 GL 10 with 56k original miles
I always try to change the fluids when I first get a car. Oil, Coolant, ATF and Gear Oil mainly. I'd change those fluids right away, especially if you don't know when the last time they were changed.

Dumb DR Question
I thought the 4th gear was overdrive on the 4-speed? Yup, according to Miles Fox, the 4spd D/R's 4th gear is overdrive: http://www.economysuperstar.com/milesfox/subaru/service/ratio.htm
