  1. as far as I know they dont have rev limiters.. they just won't rev much high then that.. My carbbed EA82 stops reving at 7 grand
  2. its just like the stereo/speaker/amp wiring philosophy the bigger the ground wire, the better to a certain point. I'm gonna install a bigger ground today.. 4 gauge I think.. I just gotta find a good clean ground
  3. Alright so I have my list of what to do and how to do it, but on the list of ingredients, it says a new intake mainfold gasket.. Is it really neccisary to pull off the intake to take all the IM stuff off? or does it just make it easier and then in the directions on how to do it, it says to remove upper raidatior hose.... I dont see what this would need to happen.. Any thoughts Oh yea hitachi'd EA82
  4. my choke system must not be working then because I tried that last night and it ran like crap and never high idled.
  5. its not a soob, but my girlfriends Mercury Sable's P/S pump had been makin pretty messed up noises for about 3 1/2 years now and it still works fine.. just keep fluid in it and drive it til the pump goes out.
  6. If 93 is still an EA82 motor, get one of those pivot head rachet extentions I got all by back bolts out on my ea82 with that and a 8 inch extention
  7. is a steering wheel puller needed to pull the wheel off, or just a lil muscle?
  8. not to hijack this post, but snowman - you got a good hookup for rebuilt engineS?
  9. check the water level in it if its a maintenece free battery if its low, you gotta use rain water (water without minerals) if the waters low in the batt. if wont hold a charge
  10. Lol... thats what I used to think it was..
  11. Whats driving it supposed to do when you have ATF in before an oil change?
  12. ticking - next oil change drain out 1 quart dirty oil, dump in a quart of ATF fluid. Go drive for 20 to 30 min then change oil my valve lashers haven't tick'd since then
  13. more engine wear? it didnt hurt anything its an 86 man... not like we're talkin about cold startin a 04' STi at -45F
  14. yup colder then anything else I saw on the page....
  15. alright.. thanks guys.. northguy - I doubt its icing in the carb. I checked the vacumn deal last year and it was working fine. My car only does it when its very first started.. runs like **** for about a minute and then something kicks in (prolly the choke) and it runs good If I can find a compression tester to use, I'ma do it this weekend.. Comp testing is just pulling the plug out and screwing in the fitting to the tester and cranking the engine correct?
  16. well I didnt want to hijack someone else's post on cold starting so I fingered I'd start my own: started my car this am.. -9 F outside..it was down to -30 F last night. now for my car.. my sig. says what it is. (hitachi POS)... pumped the pedal 3 times, started it and it idled at like 350 rpms and felt like it was runnin on 3 cylinders. reved it u a lil bit, seemed to run a lil better but it was still running ruff (car was bouncin around) after the car sputters for about 2 min, it revs it self back up to normal idle and runs great... and my fast idle hasnt worked since I got the car. Question 1: Fast idle must be busted, is there something that breaks on it witha hitachi? Question 2: my choke doesnt seem like it works either. Do the acutators go out in them and how fixable is it? Question 3: anyone havea mechanical choke wired in on a EA82 hitachi?
  17. heh, my 86 started fine last year at -45 F and I had Napa 15w-40 in it.. beat that you canadians....
  18. OEM lockers? I didnt know soobs made those
  19. go to napa they should have that done on display.. Napa filters are supposedly puralator filters... Huge difference.. Fram filters are like a filter made with toiletpaper for the filter Napa's here more like a filter maid from card board
  20. just rip the PS pump off. its a soobaru.. use a lil muscle to turn the wheel
  21. hehe I love pullin people outta the ditch with my 86.. I've had the cops stop and watch me do it.. (prolly cuz I was dumpin the clutch so hard the soob was damn near jumpin a foot in the air
  22. hell yea keep it.... from what I can see in the picture, it doesnt have the soob cancer behind the back tires bottom of 1/4 panel... thats a good tell tale sign about rust. head gaskets aint too bad take it down to oregon and have mudrat lift it for ya.. turn it into a rally wagon...
  23. The weber can pass emmissions tests as long as your state doesnt have a under the hood inspection. Alaska has the stupidest IM.. They were going to fail me because I had a rachet wedged in temp. holding my evap canister in bracket. I "promised him that it was being fixed the next day"
  24. battle mech.. I thought you were gone
