  1. I just picked up my first Brat saturday from a friend:banana:. He is a retired mechanic and he thought the tranny was going out because it wouldn't go in to reverse but when I got it home I checked it out and the clutch was out of adjustment and it has too much slop in the shifter now I have a revers gear. I was looking in the glovebox and found a receipt only 103 miles on the tires. Check it out what do yoDSCN0002.jpgu think for $500!
  2. Hate to disagree with these guys, but sounds like a vacumn leak to me or an internal leak sucking coolant. Something would cause the need for a carb adjustment and Ive had 2 ea81s lose a gasket on the intake at about 250k and start sucking coolant they idled rough and when you try to accelerate they hesitate. Spray it around the intake where it mounts to the heads with WD40 and listen to the engine if it races its sucking air. ROOSOFALLEVIL
  3. I hope the Turbo is at P&P on saturday I start my vacation and my 80 3 Eyed hatch could use rear discs. Last winter I saw a Sube Black Diamond at Action with only 80k on it LIGHT front end damage and it looked garaged. No $ so no joy that day. ROOSOFALLEVIL
  4. I just finished installing a junkyard engine in a 89 wagon for my daughter. That part works fine. But when I went to take it for a test drive the brakes where froze up! I jacked up the passenger side front wheel and the brake was stuck on. Then I cracked open the bleeder valve and brake fluid shot out of it. This releaved the pressure and allowed The wheel to turn. Any ideas I am not sure caliper or master cylinder is my best guess, but I dont want to give it to her and have it lock up on the way home from work at 10pm at night! roosfallevil
  5. If you miss your 80 3 eyed hatch that much you can offer me massive amounts of money for mine. Wish you had spoken earlier I just added a long push bar and 6 driving lights tonight its now a 9 eyed beast. roosofallevil:banana:
  6. Good time in Colorado at the BBQ get together sunday. About 25 roos there from 83 to present, plus a couple of wanna be Soob owners. Dont know which was my personal favorite Hassey`s 84 Brat with 6 inch lift ( I'll be there this week for my brush guard) or the blue 99 WRC (I think thats right I am new generation illiterate). We had good food good company and great cars what more could you ask for. Although the local police officer that followed about three of the New Gen cars in to the parking lot looked a little worried seeing all the fast and furios style cars setting there with their hoods up. Specail thanks to Britnie and Mom Deb for setting this up and to the guy with the Korean BBQ it was to die for. roosofallevil PS Zoombaru fix your timming belt
  7. When I read your message I thought I hope someone answers this guy because I am having the same problems. Today I figured out my problem. When I bought My car there was a SPST relay hanging by the fuse box. Badly done connections and a uninsulated relay told me this was not a stock setup . It was so badly done I figured that it didnt work and since my cyclops didnt work thats what I thought the relay operated. Well I was wrong my fuel pump, heater fan and head lights quit working. that rel ay energizes when the key turns on the relay is suppose to energize.and all these I beleive it is called the power relay. roosofallevil :moon:
  8. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your lock is probably shot. By the time the wafers get stuck enough to allow the lock to just turn the wafers are worn out. But just in case go down to the local hardware store pick up a tube of dry graphite powder and spray inside your lock (do not use oil or wd40 they will atract dust). If that doesnt work its time to pick up a lock set at Car Quest . Make sure you do all this with the door open so if the key gets stuck you can pull the lock and get your key back. roosofallevil:banghead:
  9. I imagine your vacumn gauge is mechanical. If it is I would check to see if your cat is plugged. I dont know of anything else besides massive internal damage that can cause this type of pressure. But then I am not turbo literate! roosofallevil :-\
  10. Looks like we will be there if I can get someone to cover my afternoon bible class. roosofallevil
  11. Get one like mine she saw my cars oil pressure drop heard atick in the motor and pulled over saved Pepe my little mule . Right side valve cover fell off hence no oil. rooosofallevil
  12. AHHHH! Vacation, a beautiful word. Time to go 4 wheeling, work on that miss at 4000 revs you have been trying to figure out or just veg. Me, I was going to put a new windsheild and gasket in the better half's 83 gl wagon, swap trannys on my 80 hatch (no 3rd gear) and build a smelting furnace. This would have been my 1st vacation this year. The first 2 I had to cancel. I won't get them back . So guess who gets to report to the Federal court for jury duty Monday? Mr Murphy you suck ! roosofallevil
