  1. Thanks for the info; after reading the threads, they mentioned how to remove the switches but not if the bulbs can be changed without replacing the switch. I didn't see any threads to remove the center dash plastic wood. Any ideas?
  2. Changing the bulbs on the "cruise" and seat heater switch, can the bulb be replaced the same as my '91 Leg or did Subaru decide to change the switches so that it makes it easier for them to sell switches when the bulbs burn out? How do I also remove the plastic wood surrounding the stereo and HVAC controls?
  3. I would visit a local business that tints windows and ask them what they do to remove faded window tint. It couldn't hurt to ask.
  4. Just in case you didn't know. Subaru called that color "Misty Dawn" I know, it doesn't help. :-\ Are Subaru's rare in Michigan?
  5. When I got my Lego used, I had worn out copies. My local dealer was able to order an OEM key and when you squeeze the key head, a light comes on so you don't scratch the door or miss the ignition at night.
  6. I don't have a turbo and don't find myself driving at high speed to really benefit from rear ventilated discs. Do they provide a noticable benefit?
  7. A friend knew someone who worked on the older Subies and told me it will attach but I need to take the subwoofer cover off, and he said on the circuit board where the connector is attached will tell me what the different wires are for. He also said the subwoofer doesn't interact with the stereo and that the stereo "sees" it as just another speaker and that the amp affects the sub only.
  8. According to the seller on eBay, that was the vehicle it was removed from. Might have been an accessory available through a dealer.
  9. I don't have a wiring schematic, already searched for similar posts. Can I attach the OEM 80W subwoofer/amp to my OEM 80W Clarion? The wiring harness will not attach to the back of the stereo. There are five wires from the amp: red (fusable link) black stripe, black brown stripe, orange black stripe, gray brown stripe (looks like ground), purple brown stripe, white brown stripe. Sub part number EAB12140 (.
  10. I don't have any references for your swap but I've heard the twin turbo won't fit on left-hand drive cars because the drivers side turbo won't fit next to the master cylinder for the brake and the steering shaft. Am I wrong?
  11. According to my 1990's Legacy brochure, it listed them as 1st=3.545 2nd=2.111 3rd=1.448 4th=1.088 5th=0.871
  12. If we want to discuss the "quirks" of Subaru, ... The name, SUBARU! The seven star logo! I think the new Impreza (quirky name) was designed to attract new buyers by having its appearance appear similiar to the other Asian cars, they didn't design it for the mid-20 boy racers who like their cars appearance to resemble a bull dog chewing on a wasp, or the infamous bug-eyes. Where did Subaru come up with the quirky name Forester anyway? The objective of ALL car manufacturers is to sell cars and Subies offer mechanical items the others don't or charge much more extra (VW with 4motion and Audi with quattro) Please forgive me for mentioning the germans in the presence of all that is Holy that is Subaru.
  13. The car that was hit is an Opel Omega in Europe and a Vauxhaull Omega in the UK. Current Saturns are becoming rebadged GM Europe cars.
  14. However, if the fuel filter is clogged, and the fuel from the filter to the injectors has evaporated, injector cleaner might remove some of the dirt in the filter but the engine may still be delayed because of lack of fuel.
  15. Could it be oxygenated fuel evaporating? Have you changed fuel filter recently?
  16. If you want to restore your turbo to it's former glory, try to source the 2.0 DOHC turbo and leave the 2.2 T alone. The 2.2 was rated at 165hp and the DOHC was rated at 200. Also try to find a 2.0 with the water cooled intercooler. They were standard in Japan, Europe and Australia (eBay might be helpful)
  17. According to my 1991 Legacy brochure, for the turbo, the standard transmission was 5MT, 4EAT was optional. LSD was standard on the turbo, regardless of transmission used.
  18. According to my 2006 Outback brochure, it is called "Charcoal Gray" and the white is called "Satin White" pearl. No other whites were available.
  19. Is this a recent policy change from Subaru because I recently contacted HQ Subaru and they told me I was SOL because I had an older car. I contacted NHTSA and they asked me to send me my VIN and that they would add me to the list, and that was it.
  20. My '91 has 180K and I've recently had to repair a few things like replacing the driveshaft because of bad U-joint bearings, ball joints, radiator, alternator rebuilt and I'm on my third driver-side electric seatbelt. I'm not ready to ditch the thing because I realize that the items replaced were aging. Other than the seatbelt, which the local stealer wants $400 just for the part, I haven't had to duplicate any repairs. My seatbelts have been found used for $25.
  21. You are correct on the Legacy Sun Sport trim level. I saw one earlier today and thought it was a dealer decal add-on.
  22. Lately, the overnight temp has dropped into the 60's. Maybe I'm not describing the problem accurately. I've had the car for about 2 years and this is the first time this has happened.
  23. Valve body was rebuilt because of a double-shift stumble in second and this new shifting problem started about 3 months ago. The transmission will eventually shift if the RPM's get up around 4000 and then it shifts abruptly until things warm up.
