Dyno #'s for Suberdave's Wagon
I can confirm the awesome power this car has, just by using the "seat of my pants" gauge from the passenger seat. I had the opportunity to ride in this car during the last 2 or 3 WCSSes. In addition to the huge power this thing makes, it's also a VERY clean vehicle, inside and out..no interior nastiness, and beautiful up close on the outside. Just my 2 bucks

Some pics from today
Hey Pete, how's the Weber with cold starts, like we've seen around here lately (15deg. at 7AM)? Manual or automatic choke?

chains
NV Zeno replied to elizaspessard's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThat pic above, ! I live in snow territory that gets a lot of tourists, and I simply can't believe how many Camrys, Saturns and other front-drive cars have chains/cables mounted on the REAR wheels.. (LOTS of Saturns...)

Finally new tires (and rims) w/pix!

Lake Tahoe Meet **CANCELLED**
Back on subject... When, where, or if at all?

Heater core?
I've used the "shortcut version" on my '83 wagon, and it worked fine. I don't know if it saved any time, but I was almost guaranteed to know that what I took apart went back together correctly. I didn't have very much confidence that the dash and all the other components would be exactly as before..that's a lot of small parts, nuts, bolts, and screws. Just my 2 bucks

Lake Tahoe Meet **CANCELLED**
Oh yeah, back to the location. The gates to the USFS roads in the Tahoe Basin are locked in November, so that's out. We had a good time around Kyburz a couple of years ago, we can try there again. Just my 2 bucks

Lake Tahoe Meet **CANCELLED**
Yeah, I'll be in Yuba City (yecch) Saturday, prolly crash there that night. Depending on how early I can get outa there will determine if I can get to where you guys will be. Brian, my phone number is the same as always. As of right now, 1300 on Monday, there's talk of snowstorms during the weekend. We'll see if that will really happen as it gets later in the week (like Friday:rolleyes:).

Let's see that action shot
This one was at WCSS 9 at Thurston ORV Park. I was at first afraid to enter that "lake", I thought it was too deep for my stock wagon. When I started to back away, the car started slipping in the mud sideways off the path downhill a little. After some..uh..coaching, I went for it. Brian, I'm going through Kyburz on the way to Roseville on the 13th. I'll let you know when I swing by your place on the way (are we still "go" for the seats?).

brat wont heat up....
Same thing happened to me. The thermostat was new, IIRC under a couple of months old. Changed it with another OEM stat and voila, toasty feet! That was a few years ago, its probably time for another new one :-\ (still works great). As for the loose belt, could it be that the alt just came a little loose and shifted position? Just my 2 bucks

Lake Tahoe Meet **CANCELLED**
Yup, that works. I learned it first-hand on Jumbo Grade a couple of years ago, thanks to Brian. I ran with it that way for probably half a year before I restored it to stock and haven't had any trouble with it since. (Just call me "Mr. Stock".) Just my 2 bucks

1985 Fuel or Spark Issue? Won't start cold? Ran great for test drive before buying???
WOOT!! That's great news. One of the best sources for parts just closed its doors (South Shore Motors), but I've always had good luck getting parts from the guys (and gal) at NAPA on Harrison, sort of behind Rude Brothers and Subway, at Tallac Ave. That is, if you're in South Shore. :-\

1st time Subaru - Which one should I get (BOTH PRE-1986!!!)
I've got an '83 non turbo manual. Two trips daily up/down Spooner in winter. DEFINITELY not a power wagon, but I just stick it in 3rd gear and can easily cruise 60 MPH uphill all day, with some power left for passing Winnebagos and such. Excellent Tahoe car, has never left me stranded or stuck in the snow. Ever. Snow tires are a must. Ken's Tire in SLT is the place to go for them. In wintertime, there's no real need for huge power as traffic moves relatively slowly around town. Great gas mileage, in the high 20's. CC Pick-n-Pull has parts 99% of the time, and if you're in SLT Norm's Auto Repair (Subaru specialists) is the place to go if something's over your head. By far the smog cert is the most important plus for the '85, especially if you're on the California side. You may never get the other car to pass, even after spending a lot of cash to attempt to get it into compliance. That's my 2 bucks, welcome to the family.

Just bought a 96 Outback!
Well Brian, you're certainly welcome in the EA world again, if that happens...

Just bought a 96 Outback!
Mine were made before computers! Jeremy, those look kinda new..aren't you supposed to use the same plates off your old car?

another casualty of stupid drivers
As I advise all that I know that are involved in a wreck that wasn't their fault: Contact YOUR insurance company. If you work directly with the other guy's insurer, they have no obligation to please or be fair to you. You pay your insurer to get the full value for damage to you and your property, let them argue it out between them. This will not count as a claim, and will not affect your rates. My mom and sis were involved in a wreck exactly like yours, in 1969. To this day, they both still feel the effects of the whiplash. IIRC, my mom was in traction for months, but didn't start feeling hurt until a few weeks after the wreck, and still has a constant "uncomfortableness" in her back. Just thought I'd throw that out there, because the other guy's insurer will settle as quickly and for the least amount possible, you can bet on that. Just my 2 bucks
