  1. Sunday 6th looks good for me. Subieman, whaddya mean, "too much snow"? The more the better! More expected here tonight, yay!
  2. It's possible your gage may be correct, your engine is not heating up all the way. Could be the thermostat is faulty (happened to me)..use only genuine Subaru thermostat.
  3. Sundays work best for me, but I might be able to swing a Tuesday or Wednesday:) . Of course I'd be up to meeting another member, too..NVBigBlue, you're over in Dayton, right?
  4. I found a CV axle in my garage yesterday, looked used, but appeared pretty clean and the boots are like new (no tears or holes). I grabbed the (outer) end and twisted and turned it as if I was making a sharp turn, didn't feel any popping or "crunching". If it were bad, would it feel like there's something broken inside while "working" it?
  5. I've got an '83 EA81 wagon with nearly 300.000 miles on it. It's had a lifetime diet of 10w40 oil, whatever brand was on sale (but not Pennzoil), changed every 5.000 miles or so. Make sure the filter is of good quality. Just my 2 bucks
  6. I'll be watching this one...:-\
  7. Just because the old gen cars are gone doesn't mean his knowledge and wisdom about them are gone:D .
  8. Jeremy Please DO NOT lose that! I've been talking about installing A/C in mine (you all have heard me whine about being hot in summer:lol: ) forever, I'm just...procrastinating:rolleyes: . With you and those instructions being so close, I'm now one step closer to making it a reality.
  9. I agree with Shan about the tire pressure, especially in the rear considering the symptoms you descibe. Mini-meet (nxt month works better for me too)? "Whazzup Shanon:grin: !"
  10. I saw a decent condition BRAT parked at Norm's today, said it runs great. Gen2, color was IIRC, that yellowish-tan. Topper included. Some rust. Parked at Norm's Auto Repair (Your Independent Subaru Specialist), 530-544-0953.
  11. PAT Nice to see ya here bud..missed ya at WCSS. (end hijack)
  12. I got one from Roo-Builders a couple of years ago, and shop owner Kerry was very helpful when I had questions after install. I believe the price was around 200 or 300 bucks. Highly recommended. Roo-Builders can be contacted through CCREngines.com, they share the same building, and there's a link from CCR's website. IIRC, Fred at Independent once told me they get carbs from RECARBCO, in or near Oakland.
  13. Very pretty..when do I get to meet her?
  14. LOL..must have been a "domestic chores kind of day, I'm with ya Brian, heh heh. Jeremy, hope Ken and Fred are still cool at Independent, they're great guys..stopped by Norm's in South Shore, gave me a screaming deal on a checkup/oil change, even told me what a certain noise was (that I had long given up trying to locate or identify) just by looking under the car! I've been thinking about retiring my rig after 300,000(soon), but after discussing the matter with Norm ("Plenty of life left"), I've decided to keep it longer (not to be mistaken with "restoration", for those of you that've seen my paint job) and do a few repairs, maybe add A/C. Guess it'll be at WCSS's from now to eternity, LOL. JB, was there anything special at PnP? How deep was the snow? Fog? Sunshine?
  15. Re: All Talk's second image above- :slobber: :slobber: Major drooling here..just keep them away from the corrosive snow removal formula they use over in California, and they will keep looking great!
  16. I kinda like the second one...
  17. Well, you probably know what I'm about to say, "Leave it stock"..they look good as is.
  18. OK..well then RENO members, I guess we can meet at the PnP tomorrow? Afternoons in Carson have been sunny, but still cold. Don't forget there'll probably be snow and ice in the aisles and on the cars. Can't think of anything I need to pull, but I'd be happy to meet up with y'all anyway. Before you get lunch, let me know..I'll be coming down from Tahoe around then, we can meet up. Brian, let us know if you'll have to work, or will be joining us. Just post here or call, we can meet you.
  19. Yeah, I'll go with ya. Brian, 50 thru Tahoe is a much more direct route that slogging 80 all the way around the Lake thru Drano, just to get to Carson. I'm going over to South Tahoe FORD/Subaru to order some parts in the morning, but I can coordinate with whatever time you think you can hit South Shore, and meet you there..we have our numbers:) Could you do me a favor..bring along your torque wrench (and appropriate socket), I'd like to see if my axle nut is tightened enough..I've got a racket coming from that area that could be nut-related:-\ . I second the jacket suggestion..it's been warmer in Tahoe than Reno and Carson this week, around 50 (30's, maybe 40 in Carson). Heavy fog in the mornings.
  20. Brian Check with the Forest Service, a lot (or all) of the USFS roads in and near Tahoe are closed..I'd hate to go all the way over there for nothing. Jeremy- Studs don't exempt someone from chain requirement. "Snow tires are snow tires".. studs are just an extra addition mainly for ice traction.
  21. What's the deal with studded tires? I didn't think they were any better than a good set of regular snows on the mud and snow...I do know that extra caution should be used on pavement, the car can kind of "float" at about 40 or 50 MPH. Where are y'all planning on going? Lots of Sierra Cement around here.
  22. Try having the engine running when you test the horn. I installed a couple of European horns on my '83, and I hear only a "click" when the car isn't running. They sound good and loud with engine running. Worth a try. Just my 2 bucks
  23. Looks like I missed out (had business at the Drano Airport today) on a mini-meet, but was close:( . Isn't that Scott's yellow wagon? Hey Jibs, has your snow turned to Sierra Cement (like ours has)? Thanks for the pix guys.
  24. Yup, big snow expected here soon. It's kinda funny watching the "Boy Racers" in the lowered Hondas/Corollas/Tempos make their way around in this stuff:lol:  .
