"Mudisfun - I'll send ya a vid a little later when we have a little more footage to work with, I just don't want you to be left out if I send one and then add more to it." Well then..looks like you're gonna have to make some more footage:grin: . Whaddya say NV crew, are we up for a little "modeling" soon?

West Coast Subaru Show 7 Thread (real deal)
I'm figuring on leaving The Ranch bright & early Thursday, probably crashing in Eugene (as we did for WCSS3),and arriving at the show in late morning. Brian, if you want to do that again (goes for you too, JB and Jeremy), we can hit a hotel (a different one this time:rolleyes: )...I'm getting too old for those 13 hour "bombing runs" anymore:lol: .

WCSS7 collector's glasses poll
Both types are acceptable, but I'm leaning toward the mug...12-16 ounce size would be optimal. Prefer etched (for "voting" purposes). No opinion or preference on logo design. Definitely in for a personalized unit.

EA 81 Hub Replacement Questions
"Have you taken your hub apart to make sure theres nothing caught up in there? Maybe some mud from WCSS" Nah, I don't think it's WCSS mud, heh heh. The sound is almost like a CV axle gone really bad, but replacing them (both) didn't change anything. I've talked to a few other Subaru guys (and repair shops), most agreed that the hub is probably at fault..I'll replace it and see what happens, then report back here. Hey Brian, got a few minutes for some wrenchin'?

EA 81 Hub Replacement Questions
Brian, I don't think the knuckle is the part at fault, but the hub that's (I think) bolted to the brake rotor on the outboard side. It doesn't appear from the diagram in the FSM that the ball joint needs to be separated at all, as if I was removing the axle.

EA 81 Hub Replacement Questions
'83 4X4 wagon, nearing 300,000 miles: After replacing front axle countless times with no change in remaining noises and performance, I've decided that the hub is the culprit, and have decided to replace it ('83 FSM, page 9-25 "Wheels and axles, Component Parts" fig. 9.65, #11.). Any special tools or parts needed, or is it just axle nut, washers, 4 bolts to the rotor? Is a used hub usually good, or is new the way to go? Am I asking the right questions:lol: ?

Need help with a logo for this year's WCSS
Totally a suggestion here (and certainly not to diminish last year's mug, it's great), could we perhaps have a smaller, more standard sized mug? 12~14 ounces seems big enough, the 20 and 24-ouncers seemed a bit big and cumbersome. Just my 2 bucks

I got a laugh from the dealer parts guy
Yes, CV of Ocala..Kevin and his crew are the best. I wouldn't consider another source. A VERY satisfied customer!

removing rust from chrome trim rings
If chrome, DON'T use steel wool/Brillo. One of the cheap-o liquid car waxes worked for me, or (if you can find it) "Chrome Polish" = liquid in a bottle/can...works even better. After cleaning them up, give them a good coat of wax. It helps repel the snow and mud (and water) a little. I spray the backs with a light coat of WD-40, it helps slow the rust and corrosion some. Just my 2 bucks

Need help with a logo for this year's WCSS
Actually, I enjoy the long trips to the WCSSes. It's nice to get away to a beautiful setting for awhile, the event is a destination. Of course, meeting and hanging with other Subaru nuts is extra bonus:D .

Need help with a logo for this year's WCSS
Yeah, I like the color version with the star at Shelton. I agree that the smaller lettering could be less uh.."fancy", easier to read. I also agree that a few hundred miles is a short distance to drive to attend a great "shindig" as this. Gotta get out and see the world! My 2 bucks

Radiator Temp Sensor
Well, I came home a minute ago, and I heard the fan running. After my "malfunction" last weekend, I had an opportunity to unplug the sensor/switch and clean the terminals. There was lots-o-crud. Didn't think it helped, because I never heard the fan running since then. Guess I never got the engine hot enough to trigger the switch until today. Looks like the simple fix worked. Thanks for all the replies/input. :D

Radiator Temp Sensor
I've got an FSM, the wiring looked straightforward. I'm not looking forward to changing the thermo switch, not really in the mood to be dealing with all the coolant mess. On the other hand, this might be the perfect opportunity to flush the system/change the coolant. Thanks.

Radiator Temp Sensor
Skip, you're right, thanks. I erred in not mentioning vehicle type. It's an '83 EA81, California spec. I'll perform the tests recommended above as time permits this weekend, and report here. Thanks guys.

Radiator Temp Sensor
I discovered last week that my radiator fan is not kicking on when the engine heats up. We bypassed the rad sensor and wired the fan to run while the ignition was on (thanks TSJ), worked great. That's what leads me to believe the temp sensor is malfunctioning. Is there some way to test that sensor without removing it from the radiator? Any questions or requests for clarification are also welcome.
