GCK half shafts
I was only gonna buy one for my brat, but I figured for half price, I might as well get two.... and never have to change them again (for a long time)

"lemons" the book
Daewoo had to top that list for sure

GCK half shafts
Wow! Thanks for posting this. I have been waiting for just such a deal. Ordered 2 for my brat, and one for the Legacy. FREE SHIPPING! 150 bucks = out the door!

Caption this: ( Toyota haters dont open)
(Toyota haters dont open) ...... that worked about as well as "ignore this, accidental double post" Nice Toy though. Get a pic of it romping down two Kia's, and it'll be my new wallpaper!

expanding foam bodywork, you know you've done it
I think Popular Mechanics ran an article this past summer about "bonding" in rust repair panels. I know adhesives are getting MUCH better (liquid nails, etc) .....but I just cant get past "gluing" your car together:confused:

86 Brat Fuel Pump
The pump should sit just in front of the driver's rear wheel (tucked up in front of the fuel tank)
-
87 Brat Floor Pans/Wheel Wells
I recall hearing that SOA recalled all their NOS body panels, and melted them back down:mad: ....or maybe that was just more stealership BS.
-
87 Brat Floor Pans/Wheel Wells
I think they could be modified to fit, but the top pinch weld wouldnt be quite right, as wagons have the short doors and brats have longer ones.

help please
Ill second this. Its all in picking your line, and (most) of the time, there are ways AROUND the obstacle in front of you. I took a non-lifted brat with 13" tires places it should NEVER have gone. (but I did) I still take the same (but lifted) vehicle on the same trails. The difference? *MUCH less worry about getting stuck! I say larger (and more agressive) tires and some outback springs will do the trick. Hey, if youre hanging with a bunch of fullsize trucks, they should respect that youre wheeling with a wagon (takes guts) and they can always pull you out if you get stuck. Whats to lose?

Engine RPM in a Loyale Wagon with auto trans?
We have owned both. Our 5 speed seemed to GROW gas in the tank instead of USE it:grin: ......the automatic on the other hand, was just like you said. Interstate travel at 65mph = screaming tach, not to mention sucky mileage :-\

87 Brat Floor Pans/Wheel Wells
I think a lot of old gen subie owners are on the DIY (do it yourself) program. Get yourself some mild sheet steel and some snips or an angle grinder and go to town. (you'll need to weld'em in either way- purchased or home made) If there are any good shops in your area, might wanna have them give you a price quote (couldnt hurt!)

Thinking about buying a 94 4wd Loyale wagon
Easiest way to tell if its working is to spin your wheels on any slippery surface (mud) .....the 4WD light on the dash only tells you that its SUPPOSED to be in 4WD

A few lift questions
I used a PK (OZIFIED) 4/3 lift for my '86 brat, and it went on smooth. The 4/3 was nice for me, as it took some of the front/rear rake out of the brat. With any of these lift kits, you will need longer shocks, and an extended steering shaft. I have pics of my lift install that might help you out.... PM me if youd like em.

Joining old gen but which way should I go?
May the die-hard old gen folks correct me if Im wrong, but I think the DUAL round headlights were '78. The single round were '79 Post some pics, cause that thing will be a rip with an EJ (if you can make it fit!)

Correct me if i`m wrong: 95 ej22 into 98 forester
backwoodsboy replied to 75subie's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXJon, This is too odd! (Im doing the same thing except my Forester is a '99 A/T) As far as Ive heard, you should be fine as long as its an OBDII. (I hope for both our sakes)

Pre-buying jitters...
sounds like a winner! (post more pics)

Pre-buying jitters...
I drive my lifted '86 brat some 500 miles per week, as it IS my DD right now. I have my Legacy wagon for the winter though (so the brat wont rust away on me) I agree with 75subie that the ea81 cars are SUPER reliable...... but the brat IS limiting as far as passenger-capacity goes (at least in inclement weather)

Facelift of my 93 Imp
backwoodsboy replied to Bucky92's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXLookin good! (I really like the new hood!)

You must be kidding me...
Theoretically.... everything is collectable ....but that DOESNT mean its worth its weight in gold.
-
Cost of a BRAT?
YES. Its hard to find a brat in one piece here for 500 bucks. Even if you should buy it and find something that is too big to fix (unlikely) you could re-sell or even part it out and get your $$ back.
-
so my exhaust rusted out....LOUD
Steve, glad to hear your golden subie is back to rights! Did you keep the cat(s)? I know they fetch some pretty righteous $$$ at the JY, and Ive even seen people sell em on evil-bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/USED-SCRAP-CATALYTIC-CONVERTERS-CAT-CONVERTER-FULL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33629QQihZ020QQitemZ300145728696QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Harry's Meet in a couple of weeks? Northeast - Harry's Report?
Connie, I was mostly kidding really, as Jess and I are also planning a JY run here in a few weeks. I would gladly join the party, but I cant get away this sunday:-\ Im actually thinking about taking a PENSKE van down and loading it up! (I really do need two EJ22s, and I think all that weight might be a bit much for Trusty Rusty:grin:

Harry's Meet in a couple of weeks? Northeast - Harry's Report?
Ill take two ej22s (with all wiring and exhaust please) Also both front fenders and a rear hatch for my '93 legacy if you have extra time. Lemme know what it comes to and Ill send you the $$
