  1. Hello all, I am getting ready to replace the rear wheel bearings on my 93 awd impreza wagon, picked up the bearings, inner and outer seals. Anything I should know before I start? I have done numerous wheel bearings on trailers but never on a car. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Hey Matt, glad to hear you got the engine running, hope it works well for ya in the wagon if that's where it's going. Good luck with the project.
  3. All went well, used the ultra grey on the oil pump, doesn't appear to be leaking after driving for several days. The little bit that did squeek out around the edges looks good. Now to get all the oil off the bottom of the engine. Again thanks for all the help and input.
  4. Good advice, I will have to look into what rear ends are compatable with the 93 Impreza.
  5. OK, just thought it might be similar to Impreza's, will probably just replace with Imreza bearings. Thanks for the reply.
  6. My 93 Impreza rear wheel bearings going out, when you say swap out with Legacy wheel bearings, are you meaning just putting Legacy bearings in or is there more to swap out to make this change?
  7. Since I have to go buy the selant I will make sure it is an anerobic sealant, to easy to risk gunking up or ruining the engine with a silicone based stuff.
  8. Not a big deal going to the Sub parts dept, I have an xt6, you can't find parts anywhere else. I'm unfortunately a regular there.
  9. I had to go out and look at my water pump again, I didn't even see a gasket it's pretty toast. Thanks for all of the help, I'll be making a run into the part store in the am and get this projest wrapped up tommorow. Thanks again to everyone who helped me out, I hope to be able to start being helpful to others pretty soon.
  10. Sounds good, loctite probable a good idea on the screws on the back plate, they were all loose except for one. What about the water pump, same sealant or something diffrent?
  11. Thanks for all the info, it came right off with breaker bar and a pipe with one quick application of the starter. I had oil all over the front of the engine, seems the front crankshaft seal on the front of the oil pump was leaking, removed everything and got a new seal, now I have to put it all back together. Anyone know if Subaru recomends a particular sealant or can I use any high temp sealant for the pump?
  12. I'll give that a try, bent wrenches and bloody nuckles, sounds like a good idea to let the car do some of the work. Thanks
  13. Hey all, first time on the new gen board. Just picked up a 93 impreza, I have done many TB changes on the ea82 and er27 engines with no problem. Today trying to change the TB on the ej18, can't break the bolt on the front pully to get TB off. Any tricks to doing this, have bent wrench trying to break the bolt loose. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Will do, I tried one of the seats out of my XT6 a couple of days ago and it was the same width, but about 3" longer from front to back. Will just have to measure the Legacy seats. Thanks for the help.
  15. Thanks, that's kind of what I was figuring. Found a set of seats on CL out of a 97 Legacy for $50, might have to pick em up. Thanks Again.
  16. Anyone know if front seats out of a newer suub or other make of vehicle that will fit in the ea82 cars (87 GL)? My driver seat is wearing out and I want to replace.
  17. This is on an ea82 engine, when the rpm's are over 4k the engine will occasionally squeek for a split second and kind of hesitate, the check engine light also flashes on for a second. This will occur 2-3 times over the course of 30 miles or so. I'v checked the belts and they all seem tight. It has never done this under 4k rpm's. Any idea what this might be?
  18. Cool video, I like the shot out the side looking down the fender, looks like a lot of fun.
  19. Check the whole car out beyond just the heater system. I had the same thing happen a few years back to a nice Misubishi Galant, thought I had it taken care of with the ventilation system. A month or so later the smell returned and I found 2 additional nests where they had burrowed under the padding in the rear seats. Ended up just getting rid of the vehicle to a dealership. I could't get rid of the smell. Just saying be thorough so they don't ruin the car. Good luck on the extermination.
  20. Thanks for the info and the link, I could definitely use this.
  21. That's what I was afraid of, I tried the local parts stores and some online suppliers. I'll give the 1stsubaruparts.com a try. Thanks
  22. The oil pump on my XT6 is leaking, but I still have good oil pressure, need new pump or just gasket? And if I need to replace the oil pump where do you find them. Everyone I checked with does not have oil pumps for the xt6, are the other EA82 oil pumps compatable with the ER27 engine?
  23. Thanks, I looked all over for previous post with this info to no avail.
