  1. the relays are good. i put relays from another car in it and it still didn't work. is their a way to test the wires at the compressor to see if its bad.
  2. i had a problem like this and everyone seemed to think my clutches were bad. i lifted the wheels off the ground and only the front would spin until i gave it some gas then it would clunk really loud and the rear would spin a little and stop again. i unpluged the wire that goes to the solonoid and the rear spun fine. so i spliced a switch into the duty-c wire and when i need awd i flip the switch. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60016&highlight=pamike
  3. yes i have a meter. where are the switches and relays located.
  4. how do i test the compressor, what wires do i use. is it the 3 wire plug on top of the compressor.
  5. when i push the ac button nothing happens. how can i tell if the compressor is good or not because it is not turning on.
  6. i 'm not sure about the grand cherokee but my dads comanche has a vac motor on the back of the front axle to dissconnect the front axle. his drive shaft doesn't spin. some of the cherokee's are like that to. but the grand cherokee might be different.
  7. my 90 did the same thing and it was the starter. shortly after it started that, i went to start it and it wouldn't stop cranking even with the key off. i had to pull the battery cable off to stop it. i replaced the starter and everything has been fine.
  8. i have a new exhaust from the y pipe back. he bent and welded it all together for $60. i already had the muffler, $13 for the glasspack.
  9. what is the box on the right strut tower. is it the pump. how do i test it. i will test the brake switch as soon an i get a chance.
  10. i just went out and pushed the cruise button and i heard a relay clicking on. does this tell you anything.
  11. yes all the brake lights work good and yes i have a multimeter.
  12. how do i check the brake light. could that little can that the vac hose goes to be bad. i just looked at it and their is a plug next to it with 2 wires a green and a white. what is this for
  13. the day it quit working, it shut off without touching the brakes (if it matters). the round can that the cable goes to, the vac line that goes to this and runs to the pass side is good. are their any other vac lines. when i turn it on the light in the middle of the button lights up.
  14. the last time i used it it shut off and wouldn't work again. the fuse is good. what could the problem be
  15. i'm thinking of puting outback struts on my 90 legacy useing stock tops and springs. does anyone know what size tire to use. i have the stock 14" wheels.
  16. i put the switch in today. in a parking lot the front wheels spin, flip the switch and no more spinning. it works great.
  17. it doesn't really matter to me if something is gummed up. cutting the power to the solonoid makes it work, as long as it works i'm happy. thats why i wanted to know which wire to splice into.
  18. the fluid is fine. if the solonoid is good then why don't the rear wheels work unless the power is cut. could there be something wrong with the computer. we don't want to put alot of work into it so i was going to put a switch in the wire that gives it power so i could cut the power and lock it.
  19. update: i unpluged the plug going to the trans on the drivers side, the one that you use to test the solonoid. with the wheels up and it unpluged the rear tires spin normally. so the solonoid must be bad because the clutches are working and locking in the rear tires. i'm going to put a switch in to control it. which wire do i splice into.
