  1. being from canada as well i can tell you that you'll pay a large amount of duties and brokerage fees if you import anything from another country. You should be able to find your parts easily in canada. For example if you want to upgrade you could get 4 kyb agx struts for about $530 CDN inc. tax. go to http://www.toronto-subaru-club.com and there's many vendors that'll help you get what you need good lucj
  2. during winter months gas companies switch do different winter grade gas, which has more detergents and gas-line antifreeze in it that tend to lower fuel mileage... things should look better in the summer months but don't neglect the simple things, ie; tire pressures... have you changed your tire brand/size recently? winter tires and wider tires will effect your mileage as well good luck:D
  3. not being turbo compatible really means that it won't take high boost applications without internals. That being said, my friend has 11psi on his stock ej25, stock internals but it has been painstakingly tuned properly, and it has been running as a race/daily driver for 2 years with this set-up. The ej18 is the same, proper tuning allows for higher boost but for an average set-up 4-5 psi is the most i'd try.
  4. your problem is somewhere else, a faulty purge control solenoid will not hinder your cars driveability... it will only slightly affect your fuel mileage not sure where you are but this problem may be due to cold weather, check electrical system (ie: battery, alternatorr, starter) good luck:D
  5. Power isn't every thing in rallying, in the canadian rally championship the under 2L classes are dominated by the subaru justy, 3 cylinders, some carbed, and no boost, but it comes down to their handling and nimbleness That being said if you were to enter in a rally you'd have a great time with your car as it is, but with a wrx engine you'd most likely be in open class against all those evos and sti... don't think you'd want that:D Not sure if it's possible to swap the WRX engine in, i haven't looked at a GL engine bay in a while, but i've seen it done to Loyale's so it may be possible. You'll need much more than the engine... tranny/ ecu/ wiring harnesses.. and your probably gonna need some custom driveshafts.... = $$$ If i were you i'd probably rally the GL for as long as i could or move up to the 1st gen Legacy if possible; which is a great base to start on and would be a very easy swap car in the future I'm a student as well and am running my legacy turbo whenever i can in local events.... best of luck:D
  6. 8.7 psi stock, it's computer controlled but that can be bypassed and a manual boost controller can be use instead fuel cut at 13psi yep... bbs.legacycentral.org is the place to go:)
  7. yes they'll work, all impreza, forester, legacy, outbacks, baja ... rims will interchange with each other with no issues. Older 4 bolt subarus and svx's will not work for you.
  8. nice page, and great family of subarus you have there. My family drives nothing but subarus as well... and we plan to keep it that way take care
  9. Yeppers they are different; SOHC vs DOHC, MAF vs MAP. They will have much in common but some key differences... i see your on the TSC as well:) take care:santa:
  10. frequency 1/4 of idle? just a guess but that would narrow it down to an issue with a single cylinder (1 out of 4).... it may not be firing properly, so check the plugs for anything out of the ordinary.
  11. if you're looking at performance driving note: - steelies will weigh more than equivalent sized alloy (high unsprung weight not good) - steelies are horrible for allowing air to cool brakes - they flex more than alloys which will take away from your cars responsiveness - however; if you smack a curb they're great!
  12. Foresters are great like all subarus, great utility and performance However like all other models try to stay clear of any subaru with the phase1 2.5L (DOHC), these engines are prone to head gasket failiure and piston slap. (aka 98 model subarus)
  13. most likely those springs are for the sedan, and therefore are designed to support about 300lbs less than the wagon springs. (sedan rear is lighter than wagon) That's why your tail end is sagging
  14. the weather stripping is kind of tube like with a cavity in the middle. Get a piece of thick fairly stiff wire about 8" long or something like it and push it into the cavity. This will make the seal against the window tight = no noise
