  1. I just replaced the drivers side mirror on my 93 Loyale (damn deer!). I bought a used one at the PAP for $21.00. Way easy swap, pop off the plastic molding on the inside of the door, unscrew 3 screws, disconect the wiring plug, reverse procedure to install! Cheers! Chris
  2. Pappy Thanks for the measurements! After looking at your creation again, I'm thinking I should make one for myself Cheers, Chris
  3. Thats pretty cool! Any chance you could tell me/us all the distance between to holes? I'm comming up on a timing belt change and need to make a new tool. (If I had a spare cam pully around, I'd copy yours ) Cheers, Chris
  4. Well as of late the biggest reason I love my Suby Loyale, is because I am one of the few people in my neighborhood who can drive all the way to my house without chains! (long, steep, ice covered road, and even steeper driveway). Happy hollidays, Chris
  5. I snagged a set of the "Deep Grooved" ones (that are supposed to hold a bunch of water/debris) for my Loyale, out of a late 90's S-10 Blazer. They fit fine without any trimming, and I wouldn't use anything else, I've been spoiled! Cheers, Chris
  6. I used 185/70r13 eurowinters from les schwab for four seasons, really liked them alot! Last winter was thier last, and I ran them all spring, summer, and fall until they were bald.... Had a set of new 165/80r13 goodyear ultra grips given to me (free is good right?) and I'm still geting used to them, there doesn't seem to be nearly as much traction as my old tires had. I don't think the goodyears are big enough for my 93 Loyale. I'll probably go back to the eurowinters next year, however those coopers look pretty good too. Cheers, Chris
  7. I'm with Bucky92 on the Tribeca, I think the front end is fugly! I got all excited when I heard Subaru was building a 7 seater, but the front end, and the price tag burst that bubble.....Just my .02. Cheers, Chris
  8. I was just reading in another post about "having to get into the front end of the motor every 30k anyway", and it occurred to me that I may as well tear into the whole front end as long as I'm pulling the oil pump. I didn't replace the water pump with the last timing belt change (35k ago), so I might as well do that too! Thanks all for the input, Chris
  9. Thanks all! Looks like I'll be rebuilding again, yes "all" the seals and gaskets were replaced last time, worked pretty good the first time, should be no big deal to do it again. Hush, I'll give Bow-Wow a call, and for sure drop your name Cheers, Chris
  10. 93 Loyale, 140K. I rebuilt the oil pump 32K mile ago, the dreaded ticking has started... Can I rebuild again, or should I replace it? Thanks for your input Cheers, Chris
  11. Oh Man, every time I see a 914 I think "that thing needs a Subie motor" !!! Very clean, very cool, what a great swap. I got to drive a 914 with a 327 shoehorned into it way back in 1979 (I was 17), and I've wanted one every since! Thanks for the pics. Cheers, Chris
  12. Sounds like a great score! I am a bit curious about the EA-82 in the back end, did the guy have to cut/bang/shoehorn it in? I suppose since it had a type4 motor in it, it may have had moree room than a type2 bus. Also interested in how the radiator was mounted, front or back, and did it have any cooling problems??? Pics would be way cool Cheers, Chris
  13. I have the same problem with my Yakima bars and towers, checked everything multiple times, it's all tight??? I learned to ignore the rattles..... Good luck, Chris
  14. Hey Skip Your last comment sparked this reply. What do you suppose is wrong when there are no dash lights, no parking lights, and no tail lights??? This is exactly whats going on with my 93 Loyale. I have been using my "switch on top of the column" lights for marker and tail lights, I just have to remember to shut them off. Thanks, Chris
  15. Nice color combination, I like it!!! Have you been able to drive it much with the ea81 installed, I for one am interested in how it's running? Cheers, Chris
  16. BUMMER DUDE!!! Hush I was really happy to hear you had the old turbo wagon running, and now this!!! I'm so glad you and your family didn't get hurt, them damn elk are a bit tougher on the ride. Two deer and an elk, takes a licking and keeps on ticking Cheers Man, Chris
  17. That would be sweet!!! Way back in 1979, I got to drive a 914 with a Chevy 327 shoehorned in the middle of it That car was a dream, big wheels, fender flairs, and a wing! Oh yeah, it scooted rith along! Cheers, Chris
  18. Hey Gizmo, welcome to the club!!! Dang, I wish I could find Subies for $700-$900.....Anyways if the car is in decent shape DO IT! Keep us posted, Chris
  19. Funny I was just going to ask the masses about this same thing? 93 Loyale, lost my dash lights completely last night, they had been flickering on and off, coming on when I smacked the dash. Now they won't come on at all? I didn't think about the ground? Not looking forward to maybe having to replace the switch :-\ Good luck, Chris
  20. Couple of questions: Are you going to or do you need to modify the oil pan for ground clearence? I am assuming your (early) Vanagon was air cooled, are you going to use later modle parts for the cooling system? I for one really appreciate your post/input, as this is my plan for the ultimate (affordable) family hauler Cheers, Chris
  21. This is getting exciting! I have convinced the wife that a Vanagon with Sooby power is the way to go To see some way cool vanagon conversions, check out www.smallcar.com They show a Vanagon Syncro with an SVX H6 installed and another with a WRX swap. Cheers, Chris
  22. I just saw one yesterday in Boise. It was cherry...was being driven by some young betty. All I could think was, "she probably doesn't even know how cool her car is".... Congrats on your new ride! Cheers, Chris
  23. Sweet! Ok, stupid question time...I take it your rad hinges on the bottom, and closes flat against the back? I really hope you'll keep us updated on the project, esp how the cooling works out? Thanks again for the pic, it's giving me new hopes and ideas for a family hauler. Cheers, Chris
