  1. Wow! That car is the twin sister to my Jezabelle! Jez is also an 86 XT Turbo Auto with push button 4WD, except her air suspension works fine, and she dosen't have any stickers. Same exact paint scheme, but I have the directional wheels... Great find! RedLance
  2. Those are kick rump roast! Are they 4x140? If so, how did you go about ordering them? RedLance
  3. Oh, and it's not really a custom sunroof...just one of those regular aftermarket ones.
  4. Is it possible that during a saty with a previous owner, a rear seat passenger spilled something all over the floor, and it soaked through the carpet, and onto the metal floor? We used to burn our trash, and I remember seeing all sorts of different colors of flame from various stuff burning. I'll bet somebody spilled some kind of drink, and it left a residue that is catching fire. RedLance
  5. Yes, I will be bringing it to the Midwest meet as my 86 Turbo XT won't be ready by then.
  6. 1989 XT-6 169,000 miles Very very little rust...Maybe 6 spots that add up to less than quarter size each, all surface only Used to be black, now it's white with a black roof and mirrors. 5sp, Full Time AWD, 3.90 NON-LSD Non factory sun roof Front air struts replaced with coil overs Rear air shocks still present and set up to be filled with regular compressor. Left rear axle shaft missing. (Yeah, really) New muffler, timing belt, starter, and rebuilt Cybrid power steering. Power steering wired to dash switch, otherwise it drains the battery overnight. Same switch also makes both radiator fans come on. Passenger side driving light is missing, drivers side is broken Headlight washers don't work, one tube is broken Driver's automatic seat belt is broken Missing bottom plastic from steering colum, and plastic cover from side mirror Directional alloy wheels No body emblems or decals Needs oil pump seals, both leaking and causing low pressure Front joints click, but only in very tight turns Glove box knob is in center cosole, and glove box won't open Lock is missing from rear seat back Tool and pouch for emergency power seat belt function are missing Drivers sun visor falls down Aftermarket non-power antenna, preset #4 dosen't always work Out temp and average speed on trip computer don't work right Still runs real strong Battery was shot Came with owners manual! Will post pics come daylight Best part...$850.00 and only needs lots of little things RedLance
  7. I was thinking of something like the one on this wagon: http://www.lovell.com.au/Subaru/abby.htmOnly made for an XT.
  8. No...that's not what I'm looking for. Have you ever seen pictures of the road trains they have down there? They all have big front end gurads on them...well, the one I saw was a smaller version of one of those. It's usually grey, goes all the way accros the front of the car, and leans out away from the hood at the top.
  9. If you haven't already used that R12 replacment stuff...I'd advise against it. I was shown a hose from a system with some sort of "drop in replacement" and the hose looked like a fire had run though it. It was all sorts of messed up on the inside. So...just make damn sure you know what your putting into it. Some of them are mostly propane too...something I'm not sure I want in my A/C system. On mine, I went ahead and had new hoses made with barrier rubber, and flushed all the components and refilled it with R134a...seems to work ok. RedLance
  10. Apparently nobody has, so I will document mine, and post it to the repair manual.
  11. Could be the o-rings too. There are little tiny o-rings around the black line at all connecting points. These are supposed to be replaced everytime you disconnect the line, but lots of people don't. You could take one to your parts house, and match it up, or I'm sure you can order some through your dealer. If it is the actual line, you might have some luck "patching it" using parts from the line kit for normal air shocks...that's what I did. It's just plain old plastic air line... RedLance
  12. Could have been some sort of option or only used on later BRAT's My 80 has plain old ordinary bolts holding the seats to the frame. I've had them in and out a couple of different times. Or, maybe a previous owner replaced the original bolts with tamper resistant ones? Do they maybe just need a big allen wrench? Dunno for sure. RedLance
  13. I went to the parts store and bought a 6 foot piece of 2 inch straight pipe. I also got 2 45 degree bends. A couple of band clamps, and a 2 inch glass pack. I welded the 45 degree elbows, in roughly the same orientaion as the stock pipe, used the stock hangers, and it works alright, except the inlet to the muffler hits the rear diff hanger. Sounds pretty good though. I used the original connector flange where the rear pipe connects to the down pipe. I got new bolts and springs, though...and a new gasket. About $25 for the muffler, and another $30 maybe for the pipe, elbows, and clamlps. You could duplictae the same thing with 2 more clamps and no welding. The clamp I used is a band clamp. It's about 3 inches wide, and wraps all the way around the pipe. Like a wide hose clamp, instead of the kind that crush the pipe. They are also satinless steel, and reuseable. RedLance
  14. I'll take a look and see, when I get out there. These are all stored at my parents farm, which is about 25 miles from where I live, so I don't make it out there everyday.
  15. Has anybody here ever rebuilt their own power steering rack? I've got mine torn apart, since it was leaking profusly from one end. I got new boots, and new seals, but I'm not quite sure how to get the one seal out. I know the FSM shows a special tool, of course. So, just wondering if anyone has done this before and if so what they used. Thanks! RedLance
  16. I've got a complete 79 DL 4WD wagon for parts I've also got an 81 BRAT for parts. Both bodies are full of rust, so no body panels are available. The wagon has the 1600 in it. The engine, transmission and dealer installed A/C from the brat are mine...the rest is up for grabs, including the high roof bar. Pics are here: BRAT http://www.theholt.net/cars/Picture_0193.jpg wagon http://www.theholt.net/cars/Picture_0187.jpg Plus, I've still got parts of this 82 2wd 3AT wagon but engine and tranny are going on Dad's pontoon boat. http://www.theholt.net/cars/Picture_0236.jpg Plus other assorted 78-82 wagon parts. Just ask. I plan to be out there this coming Sunday, so I can grab pics of anything if you want. I can bring stuff to the meet in Iowa.
  17. Is your 87 Turbo, the 87.5 model? Does it have foglights or places for foglights in the chin spoiler? If it does, then the XT6 engine should swap in no problem, as the 87.5 model, was the same car as the XT6...just with the 4 cylinder. I know, I've got one. Unless you mean you hate the XT6 engine...in which case, I don't see why an EJ22 wouldn't swap in...Other people have done it to EA-82 cars...which is really all the XT is... RedLance
  18. I called Loess Hills Hideaway today, and confirmed my reservation for Friday and Saturday nights. They guy said he still hasn't heard from several people who have pencilied in reservations. I think he said 1 cabin and 1 or 2 campsites are still unconfirmed. Just thought I should remind everybody. I know I almost spaced off calling them to confirm myself. RedLance
  19. We'll be leaving Lincoln on Friday afternoon, as soon as the kids get out of school, at 4pm. We'll be taking I80 East to I29 north, and on up from there. We'll have CB radio's, and I think channel 16 was decided on. I also have FRS radios, that I can bring along, and relay between FRS and CB. We should arrive at the park on Friday night, I'm guessing around 8pm or so. I welcome convoy memebers along the way. Will be bringing my 86 Turbo XT hopefully, and my 96 Chevy Astro, unless I can swing $600 for the 88 XT6 that's here in town. Then we'll just bring both XT's...that would be sweet. RedLance
  20. Well, I am trying to remember how my XT is set up. I know there is more then one switch that has to work for the compressor to run. There is the low pressure switch, which is only there to keep the compressor from running with no freon in the system. No freon in the system, no oil gets to the compressor, bye bye compressor. There is also an over pressure switch, in the low side line, and if it is faulty, it won't work either. Now, since your one switch has 4 wires, it might be these 2 switches combined. That would explaine why one set of wires is shorted, and the other is open. Now, take all this with some salt, since I'm doing it all from memory, but on my crown vic, you can unscrew the switch, because it has a shrader valve(tire stem valve) under it. I haven't replaced any of the Subaru switches before, so I don't know for sure if they have the valves or not. I hope some of that helps. RedLance
  21. The family and I are in for a cabin. It'll be me, my lifemate, and our 4 kids (ages 7.5, 6, 2, and .2) And I never got an e-mail from Morgan... RedLance

RedLance
  23. Hey, if anybody needs 78-82 wagon parts or gen 1 BRAT parts, let me know and I can bring some to the meet. I'll be in my XT, hopefully, so I won't be able to bring tranny's or engines, or anything too big... RedLance
  24. Out of curiosity, how many miles were on this block? My EA82T had 167,000 on it, and still had those cross hatching marks...
