  1. you need to remember about that lost power as well, mine was 14 years old when it went on the dyno last year, it produced 69 hp and 100lb/s torque and only having a K&N and cherry bomb, so you just adding bits to get your power back as it was to standard, maybe trying to restore that power you could do such a thing as heads off, give them a good clean up, polish up the valves, its all somin you can do yourself, and get the heads skimmed, bring up that compression a bit, also ported as well if you fancy it. then tune the weber a tad richer, and you should be away for quite a bit more and as said before, get a cam grind, but then you might as well go the whole hog and do the bottom end as well, which is what i ended up doing! or you could do the really expensive thing and get some dual ports thats what i ended up doing!
  2. tell me about it, ive blown up 3 driveshafts, rebuilt 2 of them, which also decided to go bang, ruined a tailgate (which really pissed me off because it was mint) ran over a rally mudflap in reverse and pulled my front wing down by about 2 inches, and is now rusting, and set alight to my bonnet, not to mention the fuelling problems (about 18mpg on a good day), the engine burning 2 litres of oil a week, all of it bit i still love it and am having all the problems solved as i type, costing me literally several thousand pounds altogether and several more to go no doubt, but thats why i love it.....strange aint it.....lol!
  3. the alloys look smart man! now bring it down a bit! lol!
  4. well, theres defo no cracks on the drivers side i aint got one of the whole dash! lol, and i'll be up for a no rust one! just drift spec one be fore long hopefully!
  5. JDM yOOOOO!!!!!! haha recently JDM has gone mad in our japanese club, if it aint JDM, well, your not on top matey JDM stuff is usually higher spec, i.e the JDM spec impreza sti's of the first shape, were alot more 280 bhp standard out the factory, also mitsubushi market there pajero as a shogun over here, the pajero having lots more features (elecy mirror, chrome mirrors, air con etc) and honda integras, different lights, more power, different trim level, it goes on over all the japanese car manufacturers... great thing is, all the JDM stuff is importable over to here, casue they drive on the same side!
  6. ah, now they look SHWEEET! didnt realise they were 15's looks WELL smart in that colour, might have to invest in some of that on my 16" wellers with low pros on it
  7. YE YE YE!!!!!!!! dual carbed EJ, i wanna see this man:banana: oh, and them light grills are rood!
  8. so a vairty of comments there, some ok, some not such a good thing this is kinda why i asked really, ask i know its not designed to stay in RWD all the time, and wondered of there was any point in getting bits out of it which may go boom, and i think diff mounts maybe slightly noisier than they were! haha im running low pro tyres, RWD all the time, for about a year and a half now, a couple of standing burnouts have been done, spinning starts and all that, but not daily abuse, we shall see how it all holds up with a 150 horse or so EA behind it, no massive worries though, i do have 2 spare gearboxes! haha!
  9. just somin that was playing on my mind, is there anyway that the transfer box in the EA81 4 speed dual range could in effect be removed, and just solid drive powered to the rear wheels? im running RWD anyways now, but the transfer from 2 to 4wd is somin i dont really need, and potentially a weak point, and as well as a nice bit of weight reduction any ideas? also, the front diff maybe at some point, any ideas? oh and ive never even bothered looking inside one of these g boxes, i know theres too many bits! cheers guys!
  10. well, there here! i cant wait!!!!!!!!! AHAHAHAHHA!!!! can just hear it howling through them now whilst having the arse end stepping out a lill exiting paddockhall bend of brands hatch! side by side with an AE86 or an early escort hahaha! and looking forward to the carbed EJ! sounds like a pretty kool project that! mix the old with the new, nice one
  11. yeah man, have it looking like it is now, that would be soooo rood!
  12. ah, you little bugger lol! i was gonna find that, they made that quite a few years ago me thinks, up in north in manchester, they specialise in making widebody 22b replicas for normal imprezas the ironic thing is the drawing looks pretty much exactly the same as the photo!
  13. yeah, im with the brake light thing, thats why i got one and put it at the top of my rear window! haha, at least people can clearly see when im braking, and you dont know the light is there, cause the rear window is tinted, you only see it when it lights up
  14. cor yeah mate! get hold of them duel carb manifolds!!! i would like one just cause i could, i would put it on my bedroom wall! LMAO!!! then build up another engine to put it on then do twin webers on what you woulkd usually convert to a single 32/36 that would be PIMP, im all for JDM and rareity, plenty of negative camber, a few inches off the floor, the odd pop and bang out the exhuast and going like ************ off a shovel! ideally i want some of them ramengine 12.5:1 compression pistons as well, that would be rood, and put one of the hot cams i got in it. maybe another day.... sad aint it, i get proper excited about chucks of metal that produce smoke, smell and sound....oh yeah, thats why i love it! hahaha! god knows how im gonna keep the new gf entertained! shes quite high maintainace!!!!!!! and yeah, will put some sounds on when i can, im not too proud atm, as its runnning SUPER rich, i.e black smoke, and the rings are blowing.....savagely! but still sounds sexy! hahaha!
  15. yeah, sadly SUB 4 went down, and these were the last set avalible from RAMengines, soz all you guys in the US, i snatched them from right under your nose! haha and im running open twin mikuni 36's at the mo (sounds bloody awesome! and well loud with the cherry bomb on the back as well!), and if you can get a pair of 45 DCOE's on a 1600 crossflow, and these ones which were on a 1600/1636 or woteva VDUB engine, then im sure these will be good, 40's are good for up to 2L's usually wanna get some of them trumpets on them, get them jetted up on my rebuilt block when that gets done, and the SUB4's on it, then webers on that, and a stainless 4 branch and full 2 1/4" / 1/2" system on it, then time to hit the track! haha!
  16. right, after searching for months and months, ive now finally got hold of some webers, there IDF 40's and there a matched pair, in top qual condition, and for the price, im proper chuffed, £250, where as there usualy double that new! http://img521.imageshack.us/i/bwihh6qmkkgrhgohdqejlll.jpg/ http://img269.imageshack.us/i/bwihvgmkkgrhgohcuejlllv.jpg/ http://img36.imageshack.us/i/bwihoegmkkgrhgohdqejlll.jpg/ should go nicely on the SUB 4 dualports!
  17. right, a mate of mine was talking to me about his rickman ranger which he has which is based on a load of MK2 escort parts, and hes talking about getting his one back on the road, short of the long, he was talking bout adj. coilovers, and he told me bout these.... http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=1358&products_id=3458 think you got the jist what im thinking! what do we think people? im wanting to go down quite a bit more on what i got, so it looks like quite a nice conversion, and really inexpensive and whilst were here, are KYB's the best option for shorter shocks? im thinking bout going one more on the torsion bar on the rear, removing the bump stops and putting shorter shocks on, if anyones got some reccomends, chuck em this way! also, stuff like these? http://www.kyb-europe.com/shocks-agx.html they look like a bolt on! lol wonder if they would work?... cheers fellas!!!!!!!
  18. hey man, no probs, it always helps, if you want the offset, give me a PM or a reminder or somin, and thanks fella, i love it to bits! lol
  19. as said, you dont want much to bring them out the arches, i have 16 X 6 rims with not alot of offset, but i just got luck on that, was the last set of these wheels in stock pretty much how they sit, front ones seem to stick out more slightly than the rears same rolling radious as standard, cause of 205/45/16's and no arch rubbage on standard height, and very little being dropped 40mm, hope this sheads a bit of light at what your looking at
  20. yeah man, ive got a set of mangals on my brat, 16 x 6 as far as i know, they are exactly the same as wellers, as they either brought their designs or brought out weller, somin like that, and the ones in the pic of the cut up wagon, arnt they the wrong way round?
  21. some of them look quite cool! we had one of them peugeot pick-ups (405 is it? or 505?) on the farm, then we crashed it in the fields a few times, so then decided to whack the 2.3 N/A diesel in a suzuki SJ hahaha!
  22. ah righto, so it would work as the letters match, as subaru put them in, and the direction of the letter, so its the right way up when, the letter tops are facing the top of the engine, as you would read them side specific? i thought, if something weared where it has, it should go back that way? or is that what you mean and or am i just being dumb lol, cheers man
  23. right, so ive looked at the block ive got split, and the pistons are all layed out, but its been quite a while, and ive been a bit pre occupied, anyways, long story short which way to the pistons go in the bores, there is a casting number and somin like a manufacturer name on the other side, (these both being on the inside of the piston) if this helps, anyone got any ideas otherwise? also one other thing, i have FOOLISHLY not numbered the psitons, as far as i remember, they still remain in the same order, but i do have letters A-D on the piston heads, is this a manufacturer stamp, or an aftermarket one? im assuming, logically, A=1 B=2 etc sounds like a stupid way to start, and i know! haha!
  24. well this is it, thats what confuses me, surely if the EA81 were to change, it would make it like an EA81/a EA81/b or somin surely? its really quite annoying! i just basically want a full rebuild kit for mine (shells, rings, gaskets), which is a later N/A engine, (1993), the only one i could find was a 83-84 or that time scale, which were a full kit, i dont want to buy one from here, one from there, and end up getting like over sized wrong or somin stupid, and then the shipping delay which would probably be weeks difference for me! also, can anyone direct me to a good rebuild kit of their choice?
