EA81 Special Valve Adjustment Tool
backinbrat replied to csiprun's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i woulda thought its a 5mm on the smaller one, ive got a 6mm spanner, and it seems a bit sloppy on there, dont have a 5 lol! i do mine the old fashioned way, seems alright but for the price and if your doing them maybe regularly, on a few cars, then probs worth it -

EA81 T and EA after markets
backinbrat replied to backinbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i wish the exchange rate was how it was once, $2.1-£1! lol, thinkin bout the charger, but im defo gonna go with the forged internals, i want 160 N/A! that'll be just be awesome, put some bigger carbs on the setup ive got, the bottom one, and then up the compression, and a full stainless system, arrr yeah then 1 BAR boost with the charger, yeah i know, a bit much, but that'll be way over 200, maybe 240ish? WOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! BAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! went the drivetrain -
just to put back up after the server was changed, was only in the playground, though whoever missed it can have a look as well RAM engines 200hp supercharged EA as well what the hey, mine as well lol

ken block test driving (when hes blind)
backinbrat replied to backinbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
engine, standard apart from, K&N small round filter, and valve cover breathers, fuel mixture cranked up to 3.1% exhuast, 'walker' front section (this is a subaru standard part) looks alot more square than the more sorta Y shape ones you can get, but does give alot more of a thud thud thud rumble instead of all mashed into one, so it sounds alot more like an impreza, is was a case of one got a hench hole in it, and was buggered anyway, so i changed it, standard centre section and the cherry bomb on the back, the chrome tip one, so it looks nice out the back as well, but most importantly, not too over the top! and finally, drivetrain, just RWD thats all why is it i make posts so long! -

backinbrat replied to backinbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the ken block comparision, meh, i guess cause hes doin pretty well, and the practice vid made me think of that lol, could say russ swift or somin exhuast, when that was filmed, very poorly i might add lol! its only off a phone in very low light. just standard system with a 3" cherry bomb back box (made here in england yeeeeeeeee) lol not too loud, but has a nice definatly NON raspey note, i cant stand rasp! and a K&N on it, plus you can only hear it once, a rev limiter, which i love! valve bonce disturbs me! hahaha otherwise pretty standard engine wise, till now..... -
BBS wheels! for OLD SCHOOL!
backinbrat replied to Zefy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
right, i know that this is a major bump! but the wheels off the WRC, i had the very same thoughts going through my head, and they look damn close in the flesh, because ive seen these puppies at the prodrive engineering workshops in banbury oxfordshire, about a 2 hour drive from me, at one of the open days once when i went with the old man and the second on the colin mcrae tribute run, think i know what my next enquirey is gonna be, as i originally enquired about an apprecaship there, and you need lots of quals before you can get there! so guess what im planning to do for my next college? lol would be one different suby for sure after i got a set of them bad boys on it would be a result! see what i can find! but from what i can guess, its cheaper probably to get your own hubs with custom stud pattern made up, something i would give a bash, how hard can it be -

right, just a quick one, lowering, the front im guessin is easy, just cut properly, as for the back, is it a case of taking the arm things off the end of the torsion bar and moving them around a spline or 2? also, i have a knocking sound whenever i go over bumps from the torsion bar im assuming, my field car does it as well, is it a case of new bushes on the torsion bar? has anyone else had this problem? or is it somin to do with the old adjuster bolt?
-
hi there everyone, im basically being lazy, dont really want to trall threads which have no anwser, but i need your help! I have a absolutely mint 93 brat, im looking at making it going quicker, the quick part is the eay bit, just the rest is proving a problem i would like full time 4wd, not really even wanting the dual range, but im not too fussed, rear discs, and possibly bigger brakes on the front, and the not so essential part, but would be nice, some better suspension what do i need out of what, and does anyone have anything that would work for sale, or be able to get hold of? You could make some decent money here people! as im willing to pay good amounts! i cant get hold of these parts where i am!

What grade of gas are YOU using?
backinbrat replied to SmashedGlass's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
lol, i love the attitude from some of these people CHEAP! lol, good on ya! wow, i like the sound of 110 octane! woo! over here its ethier 95 or 97/8, and if your complaining about high juice prices, its nearly $10 a gallon, it works out, basically a £1 a litre, now that ends up costing me a fortune, so i wouldnt be complaining, seeing as im on only £33 a week! -

brat LSD, camber mod and rear discs
backinbrat replied to backinbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
lol, dont worry, ive checked, and i know what ratio i need, tis a 3.7, ive seen one for sale and it looks in good nick, around 60,000 on it, spose should do what i want it to, i e-mailed the kiddy asking him what ratio it was and would it fit into a brat, here was my anwser It is whatever ratio you want it to be. I've removed the OE ring gear (which was for a 3.545 final drive), so all you have to do is swap the ring gear from your current differential (probably a 3.9) onto the LSD and install it. As for installing it in a brat, I know they used R160 differentials, but I believe there's a nub inside the rear differential housing that has to be ground off to accommodate the LSD. You should ask here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org . They'll have the answer for sure. is this so? tell us your thoughts, as this could get a bit interesting! this diff is a datsun 510/R160 subaru LSD, avaliablity looks a bit more possible with the datsun avaliability, otherwise, Any one got one for sale that can be shipped to the uk? If you've also got everything else in my list, you could have a sale! (sorry, big writing was to grab the interest of anyone who can't be arsed to read the whole post!) -
brat LSD, camber mod and rear discs
backinbrat replied to backinbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sounds good, ive got a friend with a few old subies kicking about, i shall have to have a good scramble through what hes got, and are all suby LSD's viscous? or are some mechanical, as i hear that the viscous ones start to lose thier LSD effect after 60,000 and become alot like an open diff oh, and dont worry, there should be plenty of sidways when im done, thats half the reason i want to do the swap -
right, well after alot of searching, (mostly during my IT lesson at skool, which is bloody boring) ive come to the conclusion om wanting to go for the camber/caster mod, a rear LSD (3.7), and rear disc brakes on my brat, but my thought is, what subys do i get these parts off, or do they all come off one type of car? ive seen stuff about turbos and stuff for some parts and this has already made it a bit hard, unless its off an early legacy, as i know theres a few kicking about or impreza, which is also not too bad, and can you tell us a few bits that also might be worth having off the one car if it is all to be taken off one cheers everyone
-
yo everyone, my '88 brat is having a few mods and i want to have all the guages and lights, but my concern is where is the sender for the oil pressure, as i dont actually have oil pressure guage as standard due to mine being a UK spec brat, and is the sender a mechanical or electrical cheers everyone

ive been told that you can roller cellulose paint, which is what my truck is painted in (except i sprayed mine, thinkin bout it now, it might well of been easier to roll) its a relativly cheap paint, and is the alternative to 2 pack, which involes laquor and all that, (and theres none of that with cellulose) which is what is used on vurtually every car that rolled off production lines (haha, pun there) and what you do is apply it just like a paint, and even with a brush, results are actually nice for what they are, using a roller would give you a nice even coat, once dried, i would scratch it all up again so the paint sticks, do another coat. When that all dries (takes about an hour i spose) wet sand the whole car, and using like a rubbing compound paste with one of them angle grinders that spin slower with a mop on it, go over the whole car...........and your done, and you get a top qual finsih, the sorta paint that you could go and wax and polish and be proud of, not like a matt finish (unless you wanted it like that) this is a bit more of a brief description and i can write a more detailed one, but just informing you of it, oh, and i painted my whole truck, in a mates semi pro paint shop all for £200, $400? may sound expensive, but i brought quite a bit from THE automotive paint supplier in my area (who charges quite a bit) (primer, the paint, scotch brite, wet n dry, thinners, masking tape etc) christ, that was a long one! give us a shout if you want some more info
