  2. yep, they do, or did, i had one on the drivers side (RHD bear in mind) seemed to be legal, but the fact it was cracked, i changed it to a matching koto, off of my parts car
  3. right, just a quick one, lowering, the front im guessin is easy, just cut properly, as for the back, is it a case of taking the arm things off the end of the torsion bar and moving them around a spline or 2? also, i have a knocking sound whenever i go over bumps from the torsion bar im assuming, my field car does it as well, is it a case of new bushes on the torsion bar? has anyone else had this problem? or is it somin to do with the old adjuster bolt?
  4. hi there everyone, im basically being lazy, dont really want to trall threads which have no anwser, but i need your help! I have a absolutely mint 93 brat, im looking at making it going quicker, the quick part is the eay bit, just the rest is proving a problem i would like full time 4wd, not really even wanting the dual range, but im not too fussed, rear discs, and possibly bigger brakes on the front, and the not so essential part, but would be nice, some better suspension what do i need out of what, and does anyone have anything that would work for sale, or be able to get hold of? You could make some decent money here people! as im willing to pay good amounts! i cant get hold of these parts where i am!
  5. lol, i love the attitude from some of these people CHEAP! lol, good on ya! wow, i like the sound of 110 octane! woo! over here its ethier 95 or 97/8, and if your complaining about high juice prices, its nearly $10 a gallon, it works out, basically a £1 a litre, now that ends up costing me a fortune, so i wouldnt be complaining, seeing as im on only £33 a week!
  6. woah, so what the highest grade of juice you guys can get hold of then? all sounds a bit low 85oct? no such thing here!
  7. lol, dont worry, ive checked, and i know what ratio i need, tis a 3.7, ive seen one for sale and it looks in good nick, around 60,000 on it, spose should do what i want it to, i e-mailed the kiddy asking him what ratio it was and would it fit into a brat, here was my anwser It is whatever ratio you want it to be. I've removed the OE ring gear (which was for a 3.545 final drive), so all you have to do is swap the ring gear from your current differential (probably a 3.9) onto the LSD and install it. As for installing it in a brat, I know they used R160 differentials, but I believe there's a nub inside the rear differential housing that has to be ground off to accommodate the LSD. You should ask here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org . They'll have the answer for sure. is this so? tell us your thoughts, as this could get a bit interesting! this diff is a datsun 510/R160 subaru LSD, avaliablity looks a bit more possible with the datsun avaliability, otherwise, Any one got one for sale that can be shipped to the uk? If you've also got everything else in my list, you could have a sale! (sorry, big writing was to grab the interest of anyone who can't be arsed to read the whole post!)
  8. sounds good, ive got a friend with a few old subies kicking about, i shall have to have a good scramble through what hes got, and are all suby LSD's viscous? or are some mechanical, as i hear that the viscous ones start to lose thier LSD effect after 60,000 and become alot like an open diff oh, and dont worry, there should be plenty of sidways when im done, thats half the reason i want to do the swap
  9. right, well after alot of searching, (mostly during my IT lesson at skool, which is bloody boring) ive come to the conclusion om wanting to go for the camber/caster mod, a rear LSD (3.7), and rear disc brakes on my brat, but my thought is, what subys do i get these parts off, or do they all come off one type of car? ive seen stuff about turbos and stuff for some parts and this has already made it a bit hard, unless its off an early legacy, as i know theres a few kicking about or impreza, which is also not too bad, and can you tell us a few bits that also might be worth having off the one car if it is all to be taken off one cheers everyone
  10. yo everyone, my '88 brat is having a few mods and i want to have all the guages and lights, but my concern is where is the sender for the oil pressure, as i dont actually have oil pressure guage as standard due to mine being a UK spec brat, and is the sender a mechanical or electrical cheers everyone
  11. ive been told that you can roller cellulose paint, which is what my truck is painted in (except i sprayed mine, thinkin bout it now, it might well of been easier to roll) its a relativly cheap paint, and is the alternative to 2 pack, which involes laquor and all that, (and theres none of that with cellulose) which is what is used on vurtually every car that rolled off production lines (haha, pun there) and what you do is apply it just like a paint, and even with a brush, results are actually nice for what they are, using a roller would give you a nice even coat, once dried, i would scratch it all up again so the paint sticks, do another coat. When that all dries (takes about an hour i spose) wet sand the whole car, and using like a rubbing compound paste with one of them angle grinders that spin slower with a mop on it, go over the whole car...........and your done, and you get a top qual finsih, the sorta paint that you could go and wax and polish and be proud of, not like a matt finish (unless you wanted it like that) this is a bit more of a brief description and i can write a more detailed one, but just informing you of it, oh, and i painted my whole truck, in a mates semi pro paint shop all for £200, $400? may sound expensive, but i brought quite a bit from THE automotive paint supplier in my area (who charges quite a bit) (primer, the paint, scotch brite, wet n dry, thinners, masking tape etc) christ, that was a long one! give us a shout if you want some more info
  12. sorry mate, didnt realise that you were that desperate for some 4x140 wheels, please dont kill me!
  13. hell yeah it was, $40 for the set!!!!!!!!!!! and even with the shipping onto to england it still only works out at £45! i nearly make tht for workin 6 hours a week!
  14. there for a toyota rav 4/hilux, which ive heard has the same 5.5" pattern, just in 6 stud instead of 4
  15. yo everyone, i was casually browsing through my demon tweeks catalogue thinkin how nice some of the bits in it would be on my truck, and then i came across some rally raid wheels by compomotive for the toyota, in the 6 stud pattern, which ive seen many EA's been converted to, and if you were looking at an aluminium rally wheel, well, this looks to be it, personally i still love the weller/desert rats, but thats just me http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fuk.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dcompomotive%2520rally%2520raid%26fr%3Dyfp-t-501%26ei%3DUTF-8%26meta%3Dvc%253D%26fr2%3Dtab-web&w=1436&h=1422&imgurl=www.comp.co.uk%2Fupload%2Fnews%2F1_news_zoom.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.comp.co.uk%2Fnews%2Fstory%2Fdetail.asp%3FnewsID%3D1&size=82.1kB&name=1_news_zoom.jpg&p=compomotive+rally+raid&type=jpeg&no=1&tt=2&oid=ea924057e3111310&ei=UTF-8
  16. this the kiddy your on about? http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/show_image.pl?bg=FFFF00&image=http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/2271000-2271999/2271064_88_full.jpg i remembered that it was in the brosure
  17. anyone rate Maxtel lights? ive heard very little about them, but i brought myself a set and want to mount them like the rally mk1/2 escorts. quality wise, they feel pretty good, thought i would go for some lights with mounts that would be more up to the job cause i broke one of my hella 550's http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/show_image.pl?bg=FFFF00&image=http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/2271000-2271999/2271064_86_full.jpg thats them on my cardomain, i yet to still mount them, and yes, before you ask, they did come off ebay thats 400W's of lighting, plus the 2 headlights (which im upgrading to xeon or similar, cant remember exactly what there called!) and my hellas (55x4) 620Watts WOOOOO! lmao
  18. thats quite nice that, not seen many brats with 15" wheels and tyres with no lift, maybe im just not looking hard enough and everyone keeps going on obut these turning the suspension adjusters, ive looked in the workshop manual enough times, and underneath and i sure i cant find them! better look harder!
  19. there you go! one space!
  20. i cant provide a direct account of an EA82, but i can sort of judge how good they are, well, back in 2001, i was involved in a catastrophic accident in my dads 99' impreza estate (that was an EJ20T if you want to know, lol) well, anyways, long story short, i was 11 and i survived, the combined impact speed was around 110 MPH, passenger to passenger (thats left side to left seeing as this is an international fourm!) well, the scoob was toast, but the MK2 golf GL we hit was barely exsistant, our scooby, was pretty unrecognisable and the airbag put 14 stiches in my head, i got a broken pelvis, broken leg in 3 places and the femer (bone above your knee) poped out the side, cant of been nice, glad i dont remember, and alot of internal brusing, and as for the passenger in the golf, he sadly died at the scene, what probably saved me was the 4point semi race harness, anyways, this aint a life story so i shall push on, well, last summer i was over at my mates house, and we were bombing around his fields, we agreed to all go clockwise to avoid and accident, but my mates little bro, who was 11 didnt listen, went the wrong way, and hit me and my 2 mates head on in an SJ410 (which is ironically now owned by me!) at around 20 MPH, well, we were all fine, no seatbelts though, but i did have the bullbar on it, which considerabley saved it, i had to get another bonnet and pull the bit where the rad mounts out a bit, so without the bullbar, it would have probably screwed it, so hmmm, dunno that the EA81's are that strong, so judge it from those 2 accounts, and wow thats a long post!
  21. good point, wouldnt mind seeing one as well, im looking to put a cage in my brat, but im thinkin about weather i should consider making a rear rollbar like a pick-up truck style and having it linked with the cage inside somehow, so you can mount like a pair of lights of somthing and still have a bit of room behind the seats inside, helmets for instance or similar, or just have the full cage inside, and then a little something like the standard rollbars on the outside, having it all inside means you could have a camera mount to watch all the fun
  22. lol, ah right, well these are types of down changing, heal and toeing (one of which i have mastered quite well, the brats are quite well set up to do this) basically you are braking, changing down, and bliping the throttle to give a quick, smooth down change which lets you keep higher up in the revs, my old man taught me how to do it, lol, same with 'double D clutching' not sure if this is the acutal name for it, but o well, apprantly it was needed on some older cars to give a smoother down change as well, you depress the clutch, shift into neutrel, let go of the clutch, blip the throttle, hit the clutch again, select the gear, and release the clutch, all makes an almost unoticable down change, but works when im caining it!
