85 Brat Restoration Project
What part of VA are you in. I have got some parts from an 86 that was killed by our winters and previous owner's neglect.

02 impreza upgrading?
My friend has an 05 WRX putting about 280 to the ground, IIRC. He's got a VF-34 turbo, 560cc injectors, STi intercooler, 3" TBE no cats, flex uppipe no cat, and an off the shelf Cobb stage2 tune. Spinning the tires he ran a 12.8 @ 109mph at Bristol Dragway in TN.

2001 Subaru Forester: Buy or Pass up?
86BRATMAN replied to manateepunch's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou can use the "antifreeze treatment" from subaru. There is good info on here about it as well. The ej25 will at some point in its life have a head gasket issue with the originals. There is a newer part number that is supposed to be a fix for the old head gaasket problems. Just a new designed gasket. I think WJM posted the part number a week or so ago.

'98 Outback overheating
86BRATMAN replied to MrDundee's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIf you've got some mechanical ability and a day or so to work on it. I'd just do the headgaskets, front seals(cams/crank/oil pump), timing belt and water pump. This will have the car set for some time to come. Or weigh the cost of an ej22, pretty much any year from 90-96 will be a drop in swap(95-96 autos will have egr, I didn't notice if you had a manual or auto). But first see what you can get them to do for you.

2001 Subaru Forester: Buy or Pass up?
86BRATMAN replied to manateepunch's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDepending on overall condition it doesn't sound bad. Do a search for "leaking head gasket" ad determine that for yourself. You know better than we do what you are willing to put into the car.

Clutch upgrade for early 90's Leg?
86BRATMAN replied to Phizinza's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell with the world of aftermarket flywheels, a good rule of thumb is to keep good drivability not to go below 12-14lbs of flywheel. You'll never get the stock one that light reliably. So however much your shop will take off while keeping it in spec will be good. Lighter flywheels usually reduce usable torque.

Cheapest Catalytic Converter Solution
The o2 is before the car. And gutting it would only cause a CEL on obd2 cars. It will just pollute half as much as a old small block from the pre-cat era without it...

02 impreza upgrading?
Yeah, You can swap the sti parts over. But for the power you want you'd be better off getting a wrx to begin with. Then buy a vf34, STi topmount, upgraded injectors, and getting some engine management.

'84 GL weber update.
I think you could agree that the spfi swap even without a cam would give better power up top that a carb.

Clutch upgrade for early 90's Leg?
86BRATMAN replied to Phizinza's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYeah. It'll work perfectly. Flywheels are the same for ej22 &ej25.

Modifying the EA81 pedal box to accept EJ Clutch Cable
You will have to trim the ea81 speedo cable a bit because it doesn't go all the way into the threads.

Lifting the idle on an EJ22
86BRATMAN replied to SuBaRiNo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThinking of one of my ej22 throttle bodies in my storage. There is a screw on the top of them. On some cars I've dealt with in the past yo could turn this and raise the idle up some without ever having to touch the IAC. I'll try to remember to take a picture for reference tomorrow. Its late here, lol

Rear camber adjustable '00 obw?
86BRATMAN replied to porcupine73's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe latteral links(I think thats the ones that go to the middle of the car) should have cam bolt style attachment to the rear subframe. All the new gen's I've seen from my 90 legacy to our 06 legacy have had them that style.

'84 GL weber update.
If you were in it for top end, you should have gone spfi. The weber gives a good torque boost but not a big horsepower difference.
