  1. :( :( ok, as much as i really hate to do this, i think it's time to part the old girl out. i got a wagon that needs my attention, and i cant love the old Brat like i should. She will run again after i get the harness back from Russ who is building her a new one. she does have some rust, and a few dents. the front right 1/4 is pretty bad, and she'll need knew seats. i've started getting her rebuilt, but she still needs alot of work. all of the glass is good, and there are alof of good parts. pretty low miles (mid 100k's), and with some work, i think she'd be awesome. otherwise, i'll just part her out to anyone who needs bits and pieces of her :eek::eek: i just want to get a few hundred out to offset what i bought her for. i have the slip and all, so she can be road worthy again.... anyone interested or know someone who is, let me know. feel free to pm me with questions.... thanks :(:(:(
  2. found an 80 Gl wagon in pretty nice shape and im trying to figure out what she's worth. body is straight except one dent in the front left quarter panel which could be pounded out. interior is clean except the dash is cracked, front seats are a bit torn, and the dash heater vents could use replacing. it has 100k on it, and as far as i know doesnt really have any mechanical problems. figures i'd turn this one over to the experts...what do ya'll think?? shouldi go for it, if so, how much should i give 'em??

  3. so the place where i work always buys these old cars and runs them intothe ground because no one there takes care of them. usually they wind up lasting a max of 6 months. Normally i dont care, since they usually get old boneville's or camery's or something, but last week i saw a '79? (it might be newer, only saw it from afar and cant find any pics of cars on here that look like it) wagon get towed onto the ranch. From where i was standing, it looked to be in excelent condition exterior wise. It must drive, cuz it's sitting quite a ways away from where it got unloaded from the trailer. anyways,im going to try to talk to my boss and see if i can buy it to save it from certain death, but im not sure im going to be able to afford it. so if anyone else might be interested in saving her (pending more details of course) let me know. i'll try to get pics and a better description when i work on Turkey day. Anyhow, just thought i'd put it out there incase i cant come to her rescue!:-\

  4. alright, well im really hoping that this Brat does not belong to anyone on this board, cuz i dont want to offend them if it does. This thing just keeps poping up on craigslist for a "trade", but every time i offer the guy something, he comes back with "i have over 10 k invested in it, and i want to get that money back out...."..... of a BRAT??? im i losing my mind, or is it just crazy to put that kind of money into a brat?????? plus, the thing doesnt look DONE. its primer and doesnt appear to have lights, or jump seats, or much of an interior.... has anyone seen this thing in person????

  5. So i work out in the middle of NOWHERESVILLE in northern Cali, and as luck would have it, there is a huge hippie town right down the street... and of course that mean SUBARUs! (and volvos, but i can do without those...) anyways, right at the end of the driveway to work there is a "broke down" or abondoned gl wagon. it's been sitting there for almost two weeks now and no one has touched it, not even CHP tagging it or anything... anyways, since i seems no one else wants it, I WANT IT! and since i can not conciously "take" it..... i shall do the next best thing and put a note on the windshield offering the owner some money for it if/when they return for all of the stuff that's still inside of it... how much shall i offer? i was thinking like 300 bucks if in fact it does not run.... the body is straight though. Anyone have any other ideas as to how to aquire this poor little subaru just begging to come home and be lifted and loved???

  6. Well, i picked her up pretty cheap, so i knew i'd have alot of work to do, which i was actually pretty excited about.... my first dilema was a wiring harness, which i got worked out. So now, my biggest concern is the interior, which im actually looking forward to starting from scratch on.... HOWEVER, i bought her with intentions of putting a hefty lift on her, not realizing that the gen 1's practially require Masters Degree in "All things subaru" to be able to lift, and i sir, am no mechanic.... which brings me to my dilema of weather or not to keep restoring my baby, or get her to a better home and start again with a gen 2 for easy lifting.... these are my troubles in a nut shell.:horse:

  7. ok, so i'vebeen running into alot of trouble with my little baby (81 brat).... so i have 2 thoughts. 1. parts the sucker out, or 2. fix it up all purdy and sell her.. (basically because i bought her with the intention of lifting her, but it seems to be really hard to lift the gen 1's and im no Mechanic.... soooo.... im thinkin i might need to trade up to a newer lady...).... any thoughts/advice would be appreciated....

  8. hey, just a thought on your Mallow..... If you're going to do the spray in bed liner, may i suggest going to Line-x and having it done? they are fair priced and AWESOME.... http://www.linex.com ....... PLUS, with a little sweet talk, they will spray the dash for you as well, so instead of a liner, you can have a crack free dash.... i dont know if they have a blue liner spray, but it would be worth looking into....

  9. Id have to go take a look. i know that there is a dent, buti think it was an easyrepair. thecar as a whole is pretty rust free, so im going to ASSume that the fender isnt bad..... i'll have to buy it offof the guy who owns it, or id give it to ya.... let me know what you're willing to pay so i can make him an offer. I'll try to go take a look at it later this week....

  10. Hey did you build that lift, or manage to buy one? I"m looking to get a 10 inch, but it seems i may never find one, so im thinking i'll have to stack 2 4's and settle with an 8 inch. unless i can figure out how on earth to make one.....:-\

  11. the dash is really easy to get out if you can get the steering wheel off, but in my excperience it's much easier and more enjoyable to just go slam your head in a door a few times because the hedache you'll get will be the same!!! :banghead: anyways, if you have all of the bold out, as well as the couple of screws that are on the underside of the dash in the center, you can shimmy the dash out the PASSENGER side door. Just be carefull to unplug all of the wires as you go, since i thought i had all of mine out and then managed to almost tear out an entire bunch in my haste to get the dash out. It was WAY easier with 2 people.... you just gotta kinda wiggle it over the steering wheel.
