  1. Hmm, a right angle screwdriver huh.. I'll take a look for one Its not a T-belt, I just changed them last July alot with Cam seals and oil pump. How would a do a D-check? Wouldn't I needa reader? or is this something diffrent? -Tom
  2. Ok, I have the '89 FSM on PDF disc. thank you. btw what does TPS and DVOM stand for? I try to get Genuine Subaru parts more of the time (Like Alt, starter, PCV, Mid pipe, Hose(s) "you have to, some are molded a way" like the IAC hose. Ben, at least mine doesn't die down like yours does.. man that would suck! Ok I'll check out the FSM and see what I can do. -Tom
  3. Ok, so I would need a new o-ring and gasket. My PCV is new from Subaru (Last fall) theres no vac leaks that I can hear/see. My vac lines are new and so is that tube from the IAC to the main air intake. How would I check the EGR? wouldn't the can NOT pass emissions if there was an issure like that? its been running like this since I boguht it (Well I've improved the running alot) the EGR kicks in at 1100rpm right? Ben, no it idels fine. when its warm and in gear the Tac shakes a little between 500-700. and in Nutral/park it idels about 800-1000. and theres no codes. -Tom I'm not worried about it passing emissions this year (I know it will) but its kinda annoying thats all lol.
  4. Ok, still cool. I thoguht it was juts something people always rigged up. Thanks.
  5. Haha thats funny, well at least I'm not alone :-p You can clean it with carb cleaner or some Electical connetion cleaner "CCR" -Tom
  6. Oh that! yea Dave (Cobcob) has that. looks cool. Thank you! PS: is that like a standard/extra feature that came with some Brats and EA81s? Or did you guys rig the whole set-up? Looks cool thoguh.
  7. So I've been wanting to clean my IAC just cause I dunno how dirty it might be. But how do I remove it? The Powersteering fluid reservoir is in the way of the 4 screws that hold it to the Throttle body. I really don't feel like removing the PS reservoir to get at the screws (Seems like over kill for such a small job) Is there a way around this? btw, do I need to remove the whole IAC assembly from the TB to clean it? And what lies behind that round tube part where the Fuel Injector wire leads to? I'm trying to figure out this weird sort of bogg I have once in a while. I'm gonna try to explain it real quick. Ok: Lets say the first time you start it up (First time that day) it'll run a little rough and sometimes you'll feel little bump/hop like its lean. but it only does that once a day (Sometimes less) Now, Lets say your leaving a parking lot, you make your way to the road and you need to get out their, so you feed about 1/4 to 1/2 peddel, the engine wants to go but then it'll like bogg somewhat and it'll give little boosts of power for a few seconds (While keeping the peddle about 1/2) then it feels like something opens up and gos. Also, sometimes at a stop light or rolling stop. you'll want to feed it, most time the RPMs come up juts fine, but sometimes its sluggish/bogg at about 1500/2000rpm, but then I can hit 4000 with ease. I was thinking Injector, but I would think it would have a hard time at higher RPMs, it upshifts just fine, no bogging feel. and I looked at the Injector tip (Looks fine, no crud) and its not the MAF, I just recleaned it a few days ago. and I ran Seafoam last summer thru the entire air system. So all I can think is the IAC being the problem, the plugs are NGK BPR7ES, Wires are NGKs (New form 2007) cap/rotor are from AutoZone (2006) So I dunno, it just seems to happen on takeoff, I can easly go from 55 to 65mph in a few seconds and thats at about 3500-4000rpm. Any ideas? -Tom PS: And yes it has power while havnig a load on it (Going up hills)
  8. Can someone post a picture of what this is? Not sure if I've seen them before. -Tom
  9. Wow those are nice! Rally style spots huh, Very cool. I paid $50 for my Hella Comet 500s. -Tom
  10. Phiz, theres no glare from the hood. It just lights it up aswell as the sides of the car (Works great) I like turning them on cause from inside the car you see the light beams shooting out above you (Looks cool) those on top light up the road like 10ft in front of ya (Like spots) The 2 I have in front of my grill shoot far and light up the entire road for bout 65ft or more! The only blue lights I have in the car are floor lights under dash and my Pioneer radio. Don't even notice them while driving -Tom
  11. Connie, oh I wasn't sure if he made it or found it. Its really nice that it fits with the car.. Hmmm, I'd put it on the Lego Good luck! -Tom
  12. Here is a crappy phone picture I took during winter, these are the Nokya 100/120 artic white. And no the Hellas are not wired to the headlights Lol Incase anyone was wondering about the lights I speak of :-p -Tom EDIT: They shoot way farther now with the bigger wheels (I think I adjusted my lights down to much a long time ago) Now they shoot just fine.
  13. I think Crab made that rack? can't remember.. but it does fit the car nicely. -Tom
  14. Glad you had fun, eh getting wet is part of nature :-p Nice pics and awesome sedan! "Only problem was a blown headlight" Can you really blame that on the car? C'mon. Your makin me want a Sedan now! -Tom
  15. Thanks, yes it is very intersting! That seems like a good way to go, just see what you find and which one you would like best, I mean as your looking at diffrent soobs, just take the knowledge you've gotten and put it to your best jugement Best of luck and make sure whatever you buy (Post pictures! ) -Tom
  16. Huh, thats cool. Wow 11,900RPM! What is it, a Honda :-p Thank you for the link, would barely idel (Wonder how big of a displacment it had? I'll read link ) -Tom EDIT: Wow record stood for 18 years cool. Oh so they downgraded the U.S 1.2 with the JDM 1.0 Crank and Rods to meet the 1000cc limit. Thanks for showing me this!
  17. Anyone here know much about the JDM only Pleo? Damn, I'm kinda stealing this thread. Very sorry George. -Tom
  18. Hmm yes, I suppose looking at the possitive things about the Justy are excellent points. I really didn't know the engine had that much performance to match the 1.6 EA71! And shocked SUBARU built one for Bonnevile with 120HP 1.0 Wow! any idea on the time and/or top speed? I'll look it up on Wiki. I guess their should be something said for the Justy, the only vehicle from the same era that was a compact with 2WD or 4WD was the Yugo (Which was also a pretty decent vehicle in engineering and technology) I am still shocked at the Bonnevile idea! -Tom
  19. Oh I see, yes the EA81s are very good and so are the EJs. I wonder why they did change the EA82 in alot of ways to a less evolved? Like why go from internal timing gearing to belts? and like you said, the pushrods from the 81 was not continued to the 82. Why? Just some things I wonder "Why" anyhoo, to me the worst Subaru would be the Justy. one it doen't even run a Flat style engine (inline 3) and two it has a CVT and heres that word again "WHY?" I understand that the CVT is probley alot shorter/lighter then any of the other trannys Subaru used, but why not run a Flat-4? Thank you for inlighting me Have a great weekend! -Tom
  20. Well, whats the condition of the throttle cable/plate on the carb? Try some Seafoam Deep Creep to eat any rust that may be starting and then used some oil on the cable and such so it doesn't form again and it'll keep it nice a stick-free btw, when I said oil, I mean a little motor oil or even some 3n'1 will keep it nice. I did the same thing to my throttle body plate and return spring. Works wonders, I mean you don't want to have it stick when your doing 45mph, (Putting it in Nutral or putting the clutch in would be a big mistake) Extrem high reving! Hope this helps you, -Tom
  21. GD, can I ask why you have something agaist the EA82s sooo much? Just wondering. I mean they arn't as bad as some of the things you say, I own one its a DD and it has 104,439 miles on it. It has NEVER left me on the side of the road nor has ever NOT started.. It always runs as long as you check a few things once in a great moon (Timing belts) but still mine had the orignal belts from '92 and they were extramly cracked and I drove it for a year or two before changing them july '07 (And yes I do drive the engine a little hard most of the time) but those belts never failed and I dout this ones will either. Yes the EA82 3ATs are a little slow but still are pretty quick. I havn't really had any complaints about the EA82 line. The upside to older gen Soobs are, They are amazing in deeeep snow (I went thru 3ft like butter last year with 13" wheels) I believe the 4WDs are better in some ways then the AWDs, and the EJs tend to have HG issues a bit more then the EAs. Everyone has an opinion and thats good, where would we be without one Just my $0.02 -Tom
  22. Lol yea, what car doesn't even have a cup holder? I guess passengers are good for something :-p But seriously, how many comforts do ya need? It has heat, auto windows, a motor and 4wheels! -Tom
  23. Phiz, ohhh I get it now! Thank you Truckerman, Lol (Cranky old guy with a crank old Subaru) Haha funny.. You don't seem cranky though. -Tom
  24. I've noticed that vehicles (Acura, Lexus/Toyota, Honda, Masurati, ect) using "Projection" headlights are way brighter then the H.I.Ds. The Projections shoot far and wide, also looks like daylight about 10ft in front of the car. (Yes these are a blueish white) actually the Projections look like 3 colors, from the side they look a little yellow, in front but off to the side a bit they look blue and right dead in front they are whiteish. I like that style of lights. Just was thinking lol -Tom
  25. So old style relays can cause a power shortage (In a sence) from getting to the light harness? Is it a job to get at the relays? I believe I read the blinker elay is somewhere by the Blower motor? (I should have looked when I had it out while replacing the coil pack) back in '07.. -Tom
