  1. Hmm. The reason i was asking.... I found a 1989 GL-10 Turbo on CL for 150 bucks, the motor is bad and that seems to be the only problem. But it sounds like it will be more work than its worth to get my EA82 in the Buggyroo turboed.
  2. How difficult is it to make a EA82 an EA82T? Im picking up a 1989 GL-10 Turbo and going to swap the Turbo and EFI onto my carbed EA82. Is is easy? Anything i should know?
  3. It was fun. Nose dive tore off the oil psi sending unit....again. Orion
  4. http://www.youtube.com/user/Orionroo Next summer Im going to work on the front flex. The capability of 12-15" of travel is there, just not with the stock strut. Fab on! Orion

    Front Struts

Has anyone pulled the front coils off an EA82 and just put the struts back in? Does it work to measure the geometry? Im trying to get an idea of the full amount of extnetion and compression I will get out of the front. Then.....the welder torch and tube bender come out:Flame:
  6. Here is one video, not the best. the real video is in the works. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Orionroo
  7. Im working on a youtube acct right now for some video, its being a PITA. Ill get some updated pics soon, the ones i have arnent that great, kinda dissappointing.
  8. uh....my car is nothing but subaru, and a few aftermarket parts....i dont get what your saying.
  9. Thanks for all the advice on the jumping issues and other concerns. Ill tell you this, the cage is stout and ive added more x bracing. My welds are strong. Now for the good Race stuff......I learned that my front struts were shot after the first jump. So i took it easy over many of the jumps but there were/are quite a few long and low jumps that were badass. The rear air shocks worked like a dream and i had no issues with them. If you want more lift and travel on your roos, give monroe air shocks a shot, they are only 80 bucks for the pair and all air fittings. Ok back to the race. I completed 55 miles of the 125, pretty good ide say. I had to stop racing cause i hit a jump for the camera people harder than i had, came down and managed to rip off the oil psi sending unit. So that was the end of that. After final examination of the car the only other issue is that i bent in one of my strut towers in towards the transmission, only about 1". No big deal. Ill high lift that back out. Some pics, ill post some video somewhere soon. http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=107082 Orion Anyone have the part number for XT front air struts?
  10. Im thinking it would have to add more travel than the coils. Set it up with a larger external air tank, add more volume and the ability for compression. Anyone have any XT air struts?
  11. I am currently running "overload" air shocks as my main spring. they work great for my setup and im going to put them to the test this weekend. I need to post some pics soon. they are not the stock subaru air shock.
  12. Im entering in the "unlimited class". So im going against V8's and motorcycle powered mini rails. Safety stuff includes helmet, neck brace, 5 pt harness, wrist restraints, fire suit, rear facing amber light and some special venting system on the gas tank. Hopefully ill pass the tech inspection.
  13. Anyone done it? Might get some good travel out of a setup like that? Any thoughts? Ive roughly got 13 inches of travel on the buggyroo in the rear with air shocks instead of the coilovers. It works great. The front has about as much flex as 2x4.
  14. Not sure why this was moved to "non subaru off roading"...
  15. I just wanted to invite anyone in the Colorado area to the Colorado 200 this Sunday at CORE, Colorado Offroad Extreme. The race starts at 9 and im hoping to finish the race. WE will see how the buggyroo does. Orion Details..... http://www.coloradooffroadextreme.com http://www.23deluxe.com
  16. how much money and how do i do it?
  17. If you guys want more droop/compression, look into some air shocks. I just put them on the Buggyroo and they are badass. Only 80.00 a pair, im sure there is a catch cause they seem too good to be true. Work great so far
  18. Is there any way to increase the amount of pics i can upload? I have a bunch from this past weekend that i want to post but i ran out of room i guess. Nothing like being 15 miles from camp, having both of your rear coil overs catastrophically(sp) exploding. We were force to replace the rear springs with some Aspen logs we cut on the trail. It was a little rough drive home "only" 45 miles.
  19. Thanks....I am a knoob...Its official.
  20. I know there are 3 places on each side im going to triangulate. From there ill check and see what looks weak (other than my welds). How effective are the rear coli overs when you adjust them. Ive been soaking mine with WD-40 in hopes to crank em up a few clicks soon. PS did i mention the wiring of the tail lights on this thing has been a PITA? I dont know why, must be a German thing. Anyone have a MIG in the Denver area?
  21. Local Laws? What are those? I ran my sandrail around here for months and never had a problem. Not to metion all the other rock crawlers that are in the area, I would hope the cops have more to worry about. But we will see. I do need to do some more triangulation, that is in the plan. I just found a local shop that sells sweet gussets. Thanks for all the input. I should get the rad mounted tonight.
  22. I know as soon as im done with the build and have all the kinks worked out I want to drop in a EA82T. There seems to always be one in the Denver area for around 300-400. Before I get the turbo motor I kinda want to put a 20-30 shot of NOS on the car with the current motor....just for the hell of it. I just dont have any experience with NOS. Anyone ever done it on a carb EA82? Another questions would be what are the most common items that fail on the trail when 4x4ing? ex. CV joints etc...
  23. I meant brakes, coffee didnt hit yet.
  24. Does anyone know if my radiator will work as well as when it was mounted vertical? Im thinking ill put some little scoops on the top to direct the air. Also, after tearing all the emissions crap off my car and hooking the breaklines all back up the petal needs to be pumped 2-3 times. Could i still have air in the system, continue bleeding? Or could i have removed too much emissions stuff to effect the power breaks? I checked the vacuum line going to the master cylinder and it still has good suction. Any thoughts?
  25. I uploaded some more pics. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=1046
