Well now everyone has me scared that i would destroy the front suspension of the car. I figured I could do it for around 300.00.

What have you towed with your subaru? How much did it weigh and how far did you tow it? Orion
-
Actually yes...there arent too many things i havent messed with..... On the buggyroo2 i think ill give it a shot.
-
You add some oil to the cylinders and then fill them up with air. Oil to lube, air to lift.

http://www.peninsularcylinders.com/sp_weld.htm Red one on the right is a good example of on that might work given the right sizes.

I currently have the stock EA-82 Wagon springs in the front. With the rear so light the front doesnt flex much at all. The real reason i asked all these questions is if i was going to keep the buggy i was going to build a custom front suspension using hydrolic slave cylinders as the front struts. So the buggy in the end would have air shocks/springs on all 4 corners. Ive done a ton of research on this (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261171&highlight=hydraulic&page=11) and Yes i know it sounds way out in left field, but i really think it would work. So basically you would order 2 of these slave cylinders (http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200309367_200309367) with the shaft very close to the diameter of the bottom of the strut. Yes i know the above cylinder has 2 clevis ends. you would have to order one similar to that of a snow plow lift or a bottle jack style. Where its a clevis mount on one end and a "solid" end on the other, around 1.5"od. Then just clamp that end in where the strut came out of and then you would have to build a custom top strut tower. I can explain it better in my head than in this post. And....now you all can tell my why it wouldnt work O

Anyone replaced the front springs with ones with more coils? From some other car?

Flex/articulation. Why are the axles a hang up?

Has anyone achieved great front flex on a Subaru??? I got the rear to flex excellent with air shocks/air springs, but the front is still an unsolved mystery. Orion

What motor is in this car.
bigo1966 replied to bigo1966's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Maybe the guy meant GL in the add and not DL. Cause it has a 5 speed and dual range, or was that an option in the DL? -
EA82 Sedan lifted pictures( would like to see some what ya got?)

What gauges does the DL not come with? also why would you say its not a good car to lift? -

Here is the story...im on my way to pick up this "new" subaru, and they guy calls 5 min before i get there and said the car im about to buy is being towed as we speak. So I turn back around wondering what this car is, if its a hatch or what. Cause i was pretty sure hatches came with a 4 speed and an EA81. So this is really killing me thinking it might be a different car with an EA82, This 3 door you speak of, are there any pics of a 3 door lifted 4x4 out there? Hopefully the guy will call tomorrow and i can go get it from the impound lot. -
From what i know so far its a 1987 Subaru DL Hatchback 4x4 dual range 1.8 liter with a 5 speed. So is that 1.8 a push rod or does it have the timing belts? Thanks for the help. Orion

Looks like its remote time, thanks mcbrat!

is it a drysump or wet sump on the ea82? currently the front of my oil pan has the resembelence of my skid plate stamped into it.....not good.
-
Question....Its RWD till you put it in 4WD?
-
Actually it lands great, not considering the last jump. Off the large double it landed flat and great. The last jump i took slow, almost not slow enough, i didnt want to launch off that one so i opted for the nose dive.
