  1. It doesn't come on with slow rpm rise, but with ample throttle it does and it flashes upon starting. No, I didn't search, I just so happen to remember before I hit the hay!
  2. Subaru has a lot of room. I imagine I can Few small things...what is the 'power' light about? Why does it flash when started and why does it come on only when ample throttle is applied, but not when bringing revs up slowly? I'm looking around the USRM and I see the problem, but not the right years This is obd1? Here it is! Had a grip of friends over and some who has little to no faith in it or some of my previous projects  I couldn't contain myself! To be honest, I had no faith in myself as well...never touched one of these ever. Half an hour idle and 3 drives later I think it's good. Is it me or are these things slow?
  3. woo hoo! I love the fender dent! Doesn't change a bit, ever! Gives it character. o yea, congrats!!!!!
  4. Do these subarus like to blow that cat out? As in hollow? I work at a junkyard and we're instructed to remove them at once due to thieves, but most are hollow and down the pipe is the real cat. Curious because all but one subaru was like this.
  5. 3000 rpm to drive it from the school parking lot across the street to the driveway. Despite the warped/cracked head, it felt worse than a geo metro for power hahahha
  6. Sweet! I hate to see anything go to the garbage, but if nobody wants/can use the items I have for grabs, I'm forced to throw it away. I have the other cylinder head and cam cradle thing, cam, all rockers, lifters, etc from a head replacement. I can't ship due to work. 8am-5:30pm really sucks! Let me know a day/time you'll be here and I'll be more than happy to lechya take it all! Now...if only this AC belt would go on and the belt tensioner bolt (super threaded long one) would unstrip itself )
  7. It's a bonus for someone else or these pieces go in the turd truck for the next scrap run. So I started it today. Fired RIGHT up. Yes, no turbo at all, so it was the greatest 1.5 seconds of my last 2 weeks working on this thing. Let it catch on, try to idle up and immediate shut-off. Smells rancid, too. The payoff was great and I'm even more motivated!
  8. I also have a free driver side cylinder head all complete. Not cracked in the exhaust like the other side. Free turbo exhaust manifold, free cams and cam holder things (cradle?), cam gears and dizzy.
  9. Well I broke down and ordered a full new set. $22 won't hurt me for all new anyways. I hate to wait till tuesday, but if it means doing it right, I'll wait even longer if need be. Well here is what it looks like now. Ready for some gaskets, then finish assembly, fluids and some hoping and praying to the first-time gods this thing starts. I've gone over and over and over everything many times. Head gasket jobs never take over a day for me. I really didn't enjoy this type of engine. I'm pulling it next time. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q306/Corolla_Frenzy/Loyale/DSC01933.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q306/Corolla_Frenzy/Loyale/DSC01934.jpg All those vac lines are freaky looking. I also broke some removing them. They look like intake/pcv. I'll also be asking about the crazy double/triple T 5/8" size vac lines that are located by the TB on the tps side and where they go.
  10. eek so my 3/8 impact was prolly not a good idea? It's very odd how much corrosion crap came out when just poking the bolt through. It got tight enough where I needed a rachet. Sounds like this is normal? Why would any car company put metallic unprotected bolts in constant contact with h2o?
  11. Well I'd like to get some ideas and pictures to see what I can do to make mine a little higher. The ground clearance is badass, of course, but if I decide I'm bored enough and still have this subaru...weekend project!
  12. I'd love to see the suspension on all these jacked up scoobs without the wheels on. Wish to know more and see more of the green one!
  13. Wow! Even more help!!! Are the gaskets used? I'm trying to go for the whole 'proper' thing, you know? I looked for the old 1 and it was literally 1 inch long, or at least what was left of it, so maybe thats a sign telling me to go the proper route of new? I don't know if turbo gaskets are reusable, too. I made my z31 turbo, but didn't use more than a set of exhaust manifold-to-head gaskets.
  14. Totally unrelated and ban me at will, but... my 94 geo metro went through axles 4-6 times a year. Did this for 3 years. Got good at it, too. 20 minutes each side. If I had the moneys, stealerjip for me, always. Too spendy and they steal from you and jip you, but quality comes at a price.
  15. Ah, I see. I figured maybe subaru stealership isnt so bad despite me never going there, but sounds like they're all the same back stabbing bastards. BTW, I found that stupid thing when I decided to put more crap together. Clearing out the floor of parts going onto the engine=finding lost stuff, especially little. Makes sense? So nobody in the world can get me a mani-to-turbo gasket seeing as the old one has less than 1/4 left of it on. hahah So THATS why it was slow...was part of the warped head/bad HG problem. btw, I'm never doing this again. p.s. I give much thanks for the parts help! I'll prolly need some sort of help once I can get this thing cracking over and not starting hahahha I have little faith in myself...thats what drives me
  16. I used a 3/8 impact on the inside ones. What a pain! Way crusty, too. Maybe I should consider replacing them as mentioned instead of reusing haha
  17. Well 'witty' me decided to put the banjo bolt back into the cam plate with the spring in...not knowing this little hollow metal thing is still in there, but I'm missing 1 now and i think a spring in one of the heads I bought was still in even on the 3 hr trip back in the bouncy corolla haha So Subaru wants $100 for that thing? I'll make one before they get that kinda dough... So progress has been made, but this missing piece is halting 90 % of what I can do now. Can't lower the engine back down for exhaust/turbo remounting due to valve cover/subframe rail clearance. Can do the wiring harness I suppose? I'll look in the rolla (aka: clean it out) for that little cam squirter relief valve thing. Fraid I might be asking for AC compressor/ALT bracket pictures fairly soon. If I can't find that thing, Gloyale, I'd be more than happy to chuck a 5 spot your way! Does ea82 have the same cam oil shooter setup as ea82t?
  18. I prolly can't make those things, too CRAP!! I think they were missing before I got the car! I only recall a spring on one side.
  19. So I have neither. Does this mean I cannot run the engine until I get a pair of those things?
