  1. You really do make it hard to complement you when you induce so much jealousy. Nice man. Love it.
  2. Keep telling yourself that, Steve. My Brat is going to destroy your coupe. :-p Sorry to hear about the leaks though. Evidently that's one area my Brat and your coupe are equals and it sucks.
  3. Looking great man. Nice work. As for the radio and center console, do you have a slant console? I've got a tan one that I don't think I'm ever going to get around to using.
  4. Hey, it's good to see you back. Glad to hear some positive updates and best wishes moving forward. I'm not sure what's going on here either, but I've actually been wondering about you lately after I just picked up a (rather) wrecked '01 R6.
  5. I drove it last night and, while sitting at a light, did some playing. I had the defrost/heat going and the relay started going crazy. As soon as I turned off the defrost, the spasms stopped and engine idle smoothed out. Turned it back on and the relay went nuts again. So, unless you believe in unbelievable coincidences, I'd say it has something to do with the A/C relay. I figure I'll replace it and see if it fixes the issue. If not, I get to dig more. Yay...
  6. The alt is brand new. It was replaced shortly before I got the car, so it might not have been hooked up snugly. I'll check that. When I drive the car again, I'll also see if it seems to be the same relay as during start up. Checking the voltages, that's going to be a bit trickier...
  7. I'm actually having the exact same problem with my '92 5 speed Legacy. Occasionally I'll hear what sounds like a relay going absolutely spastic, from behind the passenger side of the dash. When it does, the car will either slightly stumble or totally cut out for about half a second. I haven't noticed it to result in complete power loss though, just engine cut out. I don't have any check engine lights, so I don't suspect Mr. Balrog defeating Gandalf's spastic relay issue and check engine light are related. Also, if I'm not mistaken, using defrost will engage the A/C system too. Unless you like driving around without a heater, you're probably using "A/C."
  8. Move to Washington and I'll give you a car. Maybe even the 6...
  9. Crap, dude, that's ugly. Wish I could help.
  10. Oh man, I hate to hear that. I hope it isn't so. Best of luck.
  11. So, quick update here. I replaced the distributor and have logged about 25 miles around town with no issues. I figure after a month of short runs I'll start to trust it again.
  12. Oh, no worries. I wasn't trying to be rude or anything. I was just saying that I hope you are right and we can fix this rather painlessly.
  13. My Brat has been RWD for a year now and, despite driving rather hard too often, I havn't had any diff issues. That said, when something does give out (tranny/diff/axle...), I'm not going to be surprised. And a wagon is heavier, so it'll be harder on the parts. If you want to do it, do it. I haven't ever found a reason not to. Nobody can give you a definative yes/no answer though. Always a risk. (Aka If it breaks, it's not my fault. :-p)
  14. Rob just took off. I'm sure he'll fill you in on his complete impressions, but, in short, he's thinking the module may be bad. Also, the wires running to the module need to be cleaned up.
  15. It's a backwards mentality, but I'll probably just end up getting a non-Subaru for winter use. This salt business is a load of crap and I'm not going to let it be the reason I have to take my cars off the road for good.
  16. Dang, I'm sorry to hear that. This is really a demoralizing problem. Best of luck.
  17. Well, went out and it didn't want to start. Didn't check for spark this time. Just don't have the patience to deal with it and the rain.
  18. Righto. Picked up some bullet connectors today and just put them in. It fired right up. Going to be a bit before it regains my trust though. One end goes to wiring harness lala land and the other goes to the ignition switch. As for the rest of what you said... Uh... I don't know. :-p
