I do have delta cams...I should have thought of that...thanks for shedding light on the matter fellas! Thats what this place is all about So that would cause that much of a drop in vac huh? anyway, thanks
-
wow 10in/hg and 20 in/hg are way different...I better investigate... thanks guys
-
I believe scooby is right...but 6.5 will fit with minor work (its kinda an in between size)
-
I am concerned about the low vac at idle, and I know -.8 bar is like -11,-12 psi?(mental math) I dont know how that relates to in/hg...do you? thanks for the help so far guys... eric

at idle, what should my vac. gauge read? right now it is at 9-10 in/hg at 800rpm... here is the weird thing, when I hold the throttle at 2000rpm the vac. goes down to 18 in/hg or so and when I let off the throttle, it first goes down to 20-21 in/hg and then returns to 9-10 in/hg. The car idles and runs fine. the only hissing noise I can hear comes from behind the p/s pump...its hard to tell what it is because the p/s pump makes noise too... All vacuum lines have been replaced and the low vac has remained the same, although the car runs smoother when its cold. One more thing, when I hit my 4wd, the vac surges, this is normal, right?

I would like a more efficient turbo for my ea82t. I was thinking a DSM unit (14b). my roommate has a 90 eclipse and I like the way it pulls and sounds but I am not sure about its efficiency or compatibility. I was also thinking of a legacy turbo...are these more efficient? does anyone know where I could find this info? any help or advice is greatly appreciated

It depends on what you want more....I personally like wagons...I would vote to buy a brat after you sell a wagon...then you could have both...hopefully the gf wouldnt mind driving one for you either... if you come down here searching for a brat...good luck...get one where you can. I dont see many subarus round these parts, although i am searching for a jy with some... ok i blabbed enough...when you move, let me know if you need a hand moving or a job at a car dealership (if available)

I was searching for mandrel bent tubing for a custom turbo-back exhaust I would like to build and found a few good sites. This first one has stainless, carbon steel, and aluminum...http://www.promical.com...they also have couplers and reducers and GLAVEN! This next one is a DSM site, serious stuff here! http://http://www.roadraceengineering.com/mandrelbends.htm and another...http://www.exhaustdepot.net/manben2to5.html Hope this helps some people! BTW...I know this q has been asked and argued, but I am debating 2.5" or 3"... my goal is a free breathing EA82t with an IC, OC, and 12 or 14psi, and eventually a more efficient turbo (ignition and fuel delivery taken into consideration, among others to support this goal) any suggestions/facts/opinions? thanks, eric

rallyruss is right...you could run the fans off the remote switch, so when the amp is on, the fans are on...if that amp is only running door speakers, I doubt heat will be an issue...I think a vent or two would be adequate, like bushbasher stated...the sub amp you should cool with fans... I like where you put the distribution block! (I hope you have a main fuse by the battery) nice work everything looks clean! Good advice on taking your time! cant stress how important that is! I know we have all fried or broken something one time or another! :-p

Funny noise under hood-ea82t HELP!!
nutt7 replied to nutt7's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it only happens for a few seconds...it is not the fan...any other possibilities? -
when i turn my key to the 'run' position, a humming noise comes from under the hood most of the time, well not a hum, but more like a ererererert, like a hum with a soar throat. anyway, today it carried a different tune, and the wagon, which usually fires up right away, took like 5 sec to start...i thought it was my fuel pump, but i thought on an 86 turbo it was in the rear of the car... any ideas? I have some worn vacuum lines if this helps...everything else works great... thanks, eric

EA82 Crank Sprocket Removal
nutt7 replied to DerFahrer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
a gentle pry will get it off...if you are worried about damaging stuff, put a rag over the prying device you may use...you should have no trouble with it... -

head gasket replacement pricing

I did a head gasket set on my ea82t...I actually bought an engine reseal kit from http://www.1stsubaruparts.com it was around $130...you can buy the HGs alone also but I strongly recommend the entire kit so you dont have to tear it down again for something else. lots of people here strongly recommend using only subaru HGs, or copper ones you should change the t-belts and water pump while you have it torn down, and have a good manual...also do a search for this...LOTS of info out there... let me know if you need any more info! good luck! eric -

Sport Compact Car tested phantom grip lsd's on a few cars and they say they are awesome compared to others including factory lsd's, especially for the price, but then again, I think they were all street cars... -

HOT DAWG! thats sharp! mad props! -
hey BOBBRUMBY, you will want to run the fans in parallel, so (+ to + )and (- to -), otherwise they wont spin as fast...I blew my 15A fuse in a week with my dual fans so I replaced it with a 20A to accomodate for the extra load and its been holding out great! I also have a manual switch because if my thermoswitch works, it comes on after 210' F...(too hot for my likings) but if your switch is good it should be able to handle the current of both fans...

Here is the link to the dash kits...http://www.spysupply007.com/Car_Ste...ll_kits/subaru/ props to oddcomp for hookin' me up with the link! the checkout and all was easy and shipping to AZ took 1.5 weeks. The duct tape came from the army surplus store around here.
