  1. well I got like 3 good EA82 FI distys from '87-94 SO, I'm going to swap them out tomorrow and see what happens. Then I gotta take it down to the courthouse and get the vin inspected so I can get it registered..... But if its a disty...
  2. Tried putting a little bit of starting fluid down the TB but still nothing. I haven't checked to see if I have spark at the plugs yet and since this car just randomly died on the guy, I'm going to shoot for the optical pickup in the disty. This car just made a 18 hour trip from Oregon to Wyoming maybe a month and a half ago so I don't know why compression would just all of a sudden give out without and signs or warnings. Now next question, I have a disty from a '91 SPFI Loyale in my shop. However, the 4-pin connector has been chopped off of it. Also, I have a couple 4-pin turbo distys as well which are optical instead of mechanical. Would it be easier to take the two SPFI distys and make a good one or would one of the turbo distys, say from my '89 RX, work?
  3. ok, TB is getting fuel definatly. I pulled off the intake boot and looked into the TB after cranking. Smells like fuel and has fuel vapors coming from it. I also tried doing the pinch trick on the fuel return from the FPR. So now, what next? Swap the disty?
  4. ok so I was close. At least YOU made it... again:grin:
  5. I blew the rings in my 3rd engine so no more stupid EA82Ts for me! My new coupe will eventually get the EJ20G swap:brow:
  6. What shade do you want?:-p I'll try and get the whole story as I know it, and then Andrew can fill in the blank spots. This whole coupe travel deal has been ongoing since the end of July '06. Andrew came out here in his Legacy wagon to help a friend move from the Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY. While he was here, Paul gave him my number to get ahold of me because he needed some vehicle help. He calls me and tells me about the coupe he bought from IdahoJack not to long before, but had to get it from basically the Idaho/Oregon border, to the east coast. In a weekend, we went out there in the Legacy, spent the night at Jack's place (much thanks to Jack for the kind hospitality) and the next day (Sunday) decided to drive it back to Laramie to my place. From there on, he was going to be driving the coupe and the Legacy back to the east coast and I was going to store the soon-to-be-Connie's XT6 until he had a chance to come back out here to get it. Well 70 miles into Wyoming from Utah, after a long day of driving, the "Charge" light came on in the coupe. We ended up leaving it at "Little America" (a hotel) and came the rest of the way back to Laramie in the Legacy. The next day (Monday), him and his friend went back out there with a couple spare batteries and drove it back to Laramie to my shop. He left back to the east coast in the Legacy and left the XT6 in Cheyenne until he could return to pick up both cars. Car sat in my shop for the most part while I rebuilt the axles (had to use the old broken boots due to the new ones ripping at the seams) and just kept it out of the elements. Fast forward to Friday night (11/4/06). Andrew and his father left Connecticut and flew out to Denver where Shawn picked them up in his Baja. Saturday morning, they left Denver to Cheyenne to pick up the XT6. Then, they caravaned over to Laramie to pick up the coupe. Now the previous night, I had it running awesome and the charge light wasn't on at all. So I figured it was good to go. I even drove it around the neighborhood and still no charge light. Mind you, this was at like 7pm so it was nice and dark. Of course I had headlights on and such but still no charge light. When they arrived here Saturday morning in the XT6 and the Baja, we went out back and started it up... stupid charge light was on and I felt like an idiot cause I told Andrew the previous night, that it wasn't on. We loaded up the doors from my RX for Trogdor into the Baja and away they went. This is wheremy end of the story ends but I'm sure Andrew can fill in whatever I'm missing. Congrats on getting it home buddy, glad she made it!
  7. Gotta agree with you on that Kelly. After they dump that amount of money into that to make it nice and whatnot, they could have done much better with the transition from the supercharger to the intake. When you loose the stupid timing belts and go for the OHV engine;)
  8. Shawn, just like the shortblocks I have laying around here, I also have a pretty good stash of beat up axles, good for parts or rebuilds. If he needs any, let me know and I can see about getting some to bring down:headbang:
  9. Andrew, how'd she do on the trip? Did you guys end up transporting it back or driving? Gotta get some pics of that sweet coupe with the tailgate wagons man! Glad she got home ok:headbang:
  10. haven't checked compression since I don't have a gauge yet. All timing is fine (ignition and timing belts). I made sure to check them all over a couple times to rule them out. GD, I'll try that trick of yours. Is it a common problem with a car with slightly higher miles? Coil is fine, I swapped it with another one. Remember, this car just happened to die while it was being driven by the last owner, which says it was running great up until it died on him. I'm going to rule out the disty but just in case, I do have a spare in the shop...
  11. ok time for a bit of an update... Car has new NGK V-power plugs, NGK wires, cap and rotor. Car will almost start (will want to but then go back to cranking). I'm not getting fuel I think without the green connectors connected but with them connected, I can definatly hear the pump cycle like it should. Plus, I can smell the gas as well. Car has spark and timing is spot on. All fuses check out ok (fuel, ignition, etc.). Now, with the green connectors connected, and the fuel pump cycling, there is a hissing sound coming from the TB. Sounds to be coming from the injector since it only does it when the fuel pump is pumping. The car is sitting outside of my shop right now so I didn't have much light to see (dark at 5pm here!) but what does this sound like? A leaky injector? I have a spare SPFI setup from a '91 Loyale so I have some parts to swap out if need be...
  12. Have I ever had a mullet? Don't think so;) Snow? My car never sees snow. It'll rarely see rain!
  13. same here. I need to swap my car ASAP.... That means 5-speed, FT4WD d/r, rear LSD AND 5-lug conversion...
  14. I wish I coulda gotten a pic of the '75 with my EA82 coupes:-p
  15. You're looking for Nug, over on the east coast...
  16. Jeff, I think you should borrow a dictionary first:grin: I got one but there are people closer to you obviously...
  17. good to hear Shawn. I was glad to see you and both WagonsOnly and W.O. Sr. as well. Hopfeully the coupe has a safe journey
  18. cool, I'm also going to check my parts cars up here at the school for one but the only EA82s there are an '85 FWD auto, no option sedan, and a d/r 4wd wagon but not sure if its an '86 or an '87
  19. I'm still planning on coming now that I have my coupe! I wanna put my RX drivetrain into it before so I have FT4wd and a rear LSD;)
  20. Hey guys, I'm in need of an EA82 instrument cluster switch. Its the one on the left side of the cluster, in the same spot as the heater controls but on the left side instead of the right. It has to have cruise and be from '87-'94. If you can get me one for cheap, I'll be making a run down there sometime soon with RX parts so I can come by and pick it up!
  21. I can get you the specs for an EA82 flywheel but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. Its like 10 degrees outside right now, I kid you not!
  22. Watch your mouth there bucko. I got one of the rarest Camaros built and I bet it would eat that SRT-4 alive with no problems... Just watch yourelf because there are people on this board who own another car of some sort, sometimes its not a Subaru.
  23. Its a Dodge K-car or something along those lines....
  24. Well I think I figured it out so hold on to your butt. When I first got the car, I tried cranking it and it wanted to fire up but wasn't doing so. Now, that I scrapped the corrosion off of the inside of the disty cap, it doesn't even do that. So my thought is to replace all the stuff I was going to. Today, I ordered a new cap, rotor, plus and wires for the coupe so hopefully on Friday, I can start driving it;)
