Best Manual Transmission Oil :-)
rweddy replied to Setright's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI think many use the wrong type fluid for Subaurs. My Redline dealer has told me story after story of Subaru owners who were told then need new trannys only to run 75W-90NS and fix their troubles. I have been a bit fan of Redline for year, has fixed several of my roos shifting issue from way back.

Best Manual Transmission Oil :-)
rweddy replied to Setright's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou cannot/should not use MT90 in a subaru since the tranny and diff share the same fluid. Use 75W90NS, I run this in all my subarus and it works great.

95 legacy loose sunroof question?
rweddy replied to serotta50's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAnother quick fix you can do is this. Remove the plastic black channels on the right and left sides of the sunroof. You will see two black circles that hold the trim pieces in place. These pull out but usually they break when they are removed. Once you do this you will see the sunroof glass is held in place by 4 bolts on each side. You can then check the bolts to see if they are loose, if so this will tighten them up. If not to make your sunroof site higher you can loosen the bolts and add spacers to make the sunroof sit higher. I am on the road now but will take a few pictures so you can see what I am talking about.

Tire Question
rweddy replied to cutter's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI would agree, dedicated snows are the best. But for a single tire I have been happy with BFG Traction TAs.

gotta question about tires
rweddy replied to scuba_suit's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAlso you cannot just buy one tire, you will need to replace all 4. Your times need to match very closely or you will cause issues with your awd system.

Lifted 1st Generation in Elizabeth Colorado today
Does someone here on the board have a great first generation 90-94 grey lifted with ob rims? It looks awesome with the lift and was wondering if they were local and could give me a ride so I can see how it handles? Also talk to them about how hard, or how much it $$. Thanks!

Old shool guy needs new shool rig for wife
rweddy replied to El Toro's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI wonder when Subaru changed this? My 96 OBW had just a single one that did not tell you which door was ajar.

Old shool guy needs new shool rig for wife
rweddy replied to El Toro's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI like the 90-94 best. They have nice little touches, that new models cheaped out on. For example post 94 there is one door open indicator, so if you have to guess what door is ajar or open. Older models have separate indicators for each door, so you know which one is open. The spare tire cover on the wagons has hinges and is secured to the floor rather than just a loose piece of plastic. The intermittent wipers intervals can be adjusted rather then one setting.

rweddy replied to lookin2buy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI did not know they changes the HG in 03, when I get back in town I will look at my dad's car and see what the build date is.

Noob needs advice - Used '03 Legacy GT Wagon
rweddy replied to lookin2buy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHG on these is external leak, got some time to fix, not a catastrophic blow up. Auto tranny does not have issues, just keep the fluid clean. Service books are all about Factory Service Manuals, you can download them on-line or buy the books at dealer/ebay. No worries on the questions, great that you work on your own cars, these are very easy cars to work on. And parts are super cheap compaired to your BMW!

Noob needs advice - Used '03 Legacy GT Wagon
rweddy replied to lookin2buy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy fathers 03 blew at 34k and my co-workers 03 blew at 84k. They have still not totally worked out the HG bugs but maybe on the 05s?

Noob needs advice - Used '03 Legacy GT Wagon
rweddy replied to lookin2buy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOnly issue is the 2.5 motor can have head gasket issues, this is a Phase II motor so they leak externally. Other than this issue, these cars are rock solid. Failure rate of the HG depends on who you talk to.

rweddy replied to El Toro's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI am on my 11th Subaru, 3rd new generation. 2.2 is the best motor Subaru has ever built. You will love working on the single timing belt if you are old school! 90-96 Legacy are basically the same, but 96 auto obw get the 2.5 which can have headgasket issues. 97 up 2.2 are interference motors. Sedan/Wagon is really a preference of taste, I like wagons because I can haul all my bikes, snowboards etc. And once you seal the oil pumps it lasts for 100k instead of 6 months!

Paint spider cracking on 2000 Outback
rweddy replied to taitcyrus's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYes this is a Colorado thing. I know of many 2000-2003 that had this same issue. I see lots of these years for sale with the same damage. My father got his 02 repainted from Subaru for free because of the same issue. After talking to the rep, they said the high uv rays and altitude of Colorado tend to cause paint issues here.
