  1. Actually 96-99 and 00-04 both have HG issues, Phase I (96-99) leak internally, Phase II (00-04) leak externally. But it is a crap shoot, some last forever, others blow early.
  2. Volvo does have a 100,000, 200,000, etc. badge. I wish Subaru would do this. My father owns an advertising company and could order us badges or stickers or something if enough people here are interested?
  3. Sounds like a good deal to me, but also be careful of the airbags, my 96 Legacy OBW blew when they should not have.
  4. We won't hold the BMW against you Does your car have the dual range tranny? We don't get these in the states.
  5. Stay away from their oil filters, they are made of paper and can blow under pressure. Read this
  6. Nice, is it an auto or stick? This is one of only a handful of LS AWD 5spd wagons I have seen, I believe they are pretty rare. I also forgot home much more I like the J built wagons over my pervious wagon, a 96 outback.
  7. Yea I have delt w/ these systems on my GL-10s they are $$$ and not fun to work on, but when the system works it is very cool!
  8. I am back in the Subaru fold now, drove my 91 home last night. I bought this car from a couple that was moving out of country, so I gave them a deposit 2 weeks ago and picked it up last night. It is a 91 LS AWD wagon with 145k, 5 spd, No height control and it is in great shape and scored it for $1200. They even cleaned the car inside and out, filled up the tank and gave me a bottle of wine! So I need to do a laundry list of things to the car, change all fluids, timing belts, etc. Here are a few pictures Front Side
  9. 2.5 or 2.5t? There is more power with the 2.5 165hp (or 168) vs. 130hp but I have driven both and there is not a significant difference. Now the 2.5t with 250hp there is a significant difference!
  10. All 2.5 motors can have HG issues. It really is a hit or miss, I have several friends that have 97-99 2.5 and they have over 100k with no issues, but my father's 03 2.5 outback blew the HG at 30k. The 2.2 gets around 2-4 mpg more than a 2.5 motor.
  11. This could be, I have owned several pathfinders and their wiper blades are 12.5 and can only be found at a dealer.
  12. Looks great!! You will have a very nice J built subaru when they are finished!
  13. The L models did not come with rear head rests that year. If the rest of the car is solid then you could just swap in some rears out of an outback or LS model to get the rears.
  14. All the 2.5 are interference motors 96 up, and 2.2 from 97 up are also I believe.
  15. Are you trying to get me in troulbe here or trying to start a flame war?? Well after spending lots of time on the TDI board, and owning the car for 6 months and talking to lots of owners, here are my impressions. Driving and Handeling, incredible. The overall feel of the car is rock solid. The shifter and shifting 5psd, is butter smooth. The diesel motor has unbelievable low end power and the turbo give the car amazing zip. Maintenance is around the same as the roo, parts are a bit more expensive, but are overbuilt being it is diesel. Example Oil filter is 30 dollars, but only needs changing every 10k. The car is a bit on the small side, and finding a nice tdi 5spd wagon was nearly impossible so we got a sedan. Reliability, many owners on the TDI club have over 300k on mid 90s TDI, and my boss when he was commuting between Denver and Colorado springs put 150k miles on his with no work other than tires and brakes. I wish Subaru would come out with a diesel, the 55mpg is great.
  16. I will search and find the long post about this, basically I bumped into a car, going under 2mph (per police skid marks test) no damage to either car but both my airbags blew up. Subaru would do nothing to help me, even after insurance special investigator and Subaru rep said it was a defective airbag sensor.
  17. Thanks! I will be back in town on saturday, I will pm you with my cell number. What color is the 93? My brother needs a few things on his 91 also.
  18. It is in transition now, I will have it back at the house next week so I will snap some pictures.
  19. Well after a hiatus of 6 months I am back as a Subaru owner. Long story short, my 96 outback (Subaru number 10) had some major airbag issues. (blew up without a wreck) Anyway I traded this in for a VW TDI that I use for my long commutes (600 miles week). And since I travel a quite a bit we decided it was senseless to park the car that gets 55mpg at the airport. So I was able to find a nice 91 LSI wagon with a 5spd AWD and only 145k! It needs a few things, brakes, drivers side door lock, timing belt?? But other than this it is a nice replacement for my old outback. I prefer the J built roos.
  20. Yea I had some major airbag issues with my 96 outback, so we ended up trading it in on a TDI Jetta. But I travel a lot so it is kind of useless to leave the car that gets 55 mpg at the airport sitting so I purchased a nice used Subaru for my "airport" & home depot hauling car!!
  21. I am getting another Subaru to add to my list, can someone run a carfax for me? (I have been without a roo for nearly 6 months!!) Thanks
