  1. I meant LED, oops! and thanks for the info, that's exactly what I needed. Update: apparently I'm in the market for a new solenoid too. Or at least a 66ohm resistor.
  2. So I tried to diagnose the problem. ECU doesn't appear to have any LCD's on it at all. It's a silver metal box, located underneath the steering column. I examined it as closely as possible without actually removing it. Here's what I was able to find: The CEL will turn off if I connect the two green plugs, putting the ECU into diagnostic, but still no LCD. I plugged the two white connectors together, CEL stays on, no blinking lights at that point either. Is my ECU dead? The car is currently running, I'm just not sure what's wrong at this point. (oh, and just to mention - I'm really sorry for hijacking this post, was never my intent)
  3. I'm beginning to see why I can never find any deals on soobie stuff on craigslist in Reno.. it's pretty picked over!
  4. you rock. thanks! that's exactly the connectors I've been looking for, and my chilton's manual was about worthless in this case. the real question is now, how do I reset my ECU so the CEL will stop being solid on all the time!
  5. Any chance you could post a picture of where your connectors are? I'm trying to find mine in my 93 Loyale, and I'm not having any luck.
  6. Been there, done that. Totaled several junkers that way (non-subaru). We used to call it death race, and honestly we were lucky no one died. We did end up with an Audi parked wheels up next to a logging road at one point.
  7. Not yet. Maybe some suspension work. I want to have it been a reliable vehicle first, as we plan on using it for a family truckster. I got tired of loading the kid in and out of his car seat via a two door.
  8. 1993 Loyale wagon, 4wd, 5spd. Transmission sounds (to me) really loud in first and second gear. Clutch is new(er) and it shifts cleanly. Of course, 1st gear doesn't always sync smoothly, but no other complaints. My question is, is it normal for a loyale to have a pretty loud growl to it in first gear? Is it just geared really low on purpose and the noise is nothing to worry about?
  9. the only real reason I cared was because of the smogging here. I took it to the local smogge shoppe and they didn't care, it passed with flying colors. So now I can quit digging through my chilton's manual trying to figure out why the light is on. :-p Best part about it, I've got about $375 into the thing so far. Including the $300 purchase price.
  10. Howdy all, I'm a new member from Reno.. Just bought a 93 Loyale, manual 5spd. Picked it up for $300 and put in a new wheel bearing. I've been a fan of soobies for years, my uncle actually got me hooked on them, he was the 1999 SCCA Rally co-driver champion. I'm slowly restoring all the things that were missing, starting with a hubcap (silly I know). I'm also trying to track down a few issues including a check engine light that won't go away. I'll be posting about that later.. :-P
