I've been getting weird noises and vibration when accelerating from a stop. This vibration occurs whilst acclerating in a straight line and the vibration continues even if I lift off the accelerator. The vibration occurs only at low speeds, maybe upto 10-15 mph. I'm thinking it could be my auto tranny going again even though it shifts great (albeit slow kickdown from 4 to 3). Any help appreciated, thanks.

Talking about transmission updates, what about engine updates? Are any 4 cyl with variable valve timing theses days?

I've got a set of gold 6 spoke impreza 16 inchers for my Legacy. They look a treat and fit perfectly.

Isn't the max pressure written on the tire, the maximum pressure that the tire is certified and safe (from blowing up etc) to inflate to. It has nothing to do with the car and the correct inflation for it. I use what the owners manual states as the minimum and go from there. Personally, I'm running 38 psi.

Just over 150k on my Legacy and going strong.

I'm gonna take another look to be sure where the oil is coming from. I'll probably remove the timing belt cover in the process. The valve cover gasket doesn't seem too difficult to change. However if it turns out that the front cam seals, crank seal, and/or the oil pump o-ring is leaking, how difficult is it to fix that? Any special tools? Thanks

I had mine done at the dealer with their brand new 4 wheel fully computerized laser....etc..... I even got a print out of before and after. I was out 2mm on one and 1mm on another and the rest was spot on.

I have unfortunately discovered an oil leak. There is a small puddle of oil on top of the passenger side rocker arm valve cover in the front most "valley". There are also drops coming from the passenger side of the black cover both ontop and below. I'm wondering what the cause could be? seals? which? How easy to fix. Expensive? Thanks for the help.

I agree with simbey1982, I would do an engine swap, should be much simpler in the planning stage (everything out, everything in). You will also need the CPU.

How do you recognise a head problem? What are the symptoms? I have an early ej22 and am begining to worry. Thanks

I used to have a similar problem. I had success with injector cleaner (stuff you put in gas). Id try that, very cheap fix.

I assume they used the appropriated coolant. How do I make sure the compressor clutch is engaging?

With the hot months coming and having arrived on certain days, I've realised that my AC doesn't work. I had the system refilled last fall (so I doubt it needs refrigerant) so it hasn't been warm enough to check if it works properly. Anyway, there is no cool air coming from the vents, even after 5 minutes of operation. I've also noticed that when I turn the AC on, there is no engine rpm change, is this normal? Shouldn't the engine experience a short fall in rpm due to the extra load? Any suggestions where I should start to look? Thanks.

A cut off acts as a shield to protect oncoming traffic from being blinded. The cut of is always on the drivers side in the headlight, thus crreating a beam that doesn't go over horizontal. On the passenger side, it is not as blinding to have light aimed higher, with the added benefit of seeing the curb and pedestrians on the sidewalk as well as signs better. I hope that explains it, maybe someone can do it better.

Lexus has a hybrid SUV in Europe. Toyota and Honda also have hybrids in car form. I also hope Subaru makes a hybrid available.

I can vouch for improved handling and stability in corners when going from 14 to 16 inchers. I did that last spring, got some gold six spoke alloys from an impreza turbo from a junkyard for about 280, had to buy new tires though.

I have to agree with Ranger83, oil really doesn't need to be changed at 3k intervals IMO. I change at 10k km and use semi-synthetic and have had NO engine problems. Then again I have a 2.2 .

I recently had to replace the camshaft sensor. Da** expensive by the way but relatively easy DIY.

I doubt I would by a diesel from Subaru, or anyone else for that matter. If they do offer a diesel it better have a particulate filter. I would prefer Subaru to be working on a hybrid vehicle (gasoline electric) or at the very least offer LPG or CNG from the factory as an option.

Its disapointing to have Subaru build cars with rear drum brakes in the 21st century. Is it really that much cheaper? BTW the new Justy in Europe has the same setup.

Also, winter tires are usually cheaper than summer if you have big wheels (I'm on 14" for winter and 16" for summer anf the winters are much cheaper.)
