  1. lol I just woke up but I think you speak of the Diff? If so yeah you are right.. Long story short I had the oil seals for the front diff that leaked and forgot to check the oil level.. Got on the highway and the sound of the diff was unmistakeable.. the wurlling sound got louder and louder so I pulled off the next exit to make it to the Subaru dealership. Anyways the funny thing about how it just fell apart was I was leaving from a stop light at like 5% throttle and it just went kaboom lol.. it was a chipped gear and once the rest exploded the car was unable to move but the speedo still worked.. 0-120 Mph in 2 seconds! *edit added pictures of my old 03 Forester XS I sure do miss that car
  2. I passed the plant when on a business trip in Indy I did not get to do a reservation because I did not know if I would have time or not.. too bad I was driving a POS rental ford tarus.. some guy in a black back then 05 Legacy GT tried to show off when it was raining. I was thinking to myself if only he knew I've owned 5 Subarus
  3. Hell it's in my 1995 Legacy's owners manual..
  4. I was thinking about putting a 3W Cree LED in the car but only when I get my windows tinted as it's going to be crazy bright. I have a LEd in now a festoon but that's still not very bright. Now the LED in the glovebox.. 1000% improvement over the stock bulb.
  5. Early 90's model FWD models had traction control
  6. I'm not worried at all I highly doubt the valve cover gaskets have been done yet it just gives me something to do when I pull the motor.
  7. issues seems to be taken care of.. I changed the spark plugs and no more chugging after starting up in the morning. this is what the spark plugs looked like when I took them out. I might reset the ecu over the weekend to see if it cures that weird idle dip when starting when warm.
  8. hmm I haven't checked the pressure yet as I have to drop a family member off but I did replace the plugs this morning and check the resistance on the injectors. all 4 injectors read 11 ohms So went to start it up to leave still same cold sound. two things I can think of now... fuel pressure could be wacky when cold as in 10 hours sitting cold.. and when warm the pressure is inconsistent but not at idle just when starting. head gaskets? but I have no bubbles or oil in the mix If the fuel pump tests ok then I can rule that out. these plugs on the car are aftermarket I will check the resistance on them too
  9. I was searching and the help given did not have the info I checked the FSM and I did not see anything giving numbers I should be looking for testing them so I don't know if the numbers I got are correct or what.
  10. moving slow but I finally brought the fuel tester today turns out the link that was given to me is the same kit at harbor freight. Anyways in general how does the meter connect? the fuel filter output to the fuel rail? *EDIT my FSM had the info I needed.
  11. pretty sure if the speed sensor did not work the car goes into limp mode Rev is limited to no higher then 4K also the speedo would most likely act funny.
  12. yeah I noticed that during the summer.. anyways I guess I don't need to drain the coolant when replacing the CTS so I will order one.
  13. it's bothers me too looking like that as you know the space is tight.. I'd have to put the car on all 4 jack stands to really get under and check it's really hard to tell where the leak comes from still. I just wanted to see how involved the task was I don't think any work like pulling my motor and other work will be done until spring.
  14. I need to replace the shifter bushing anyways it has so much slop it's easy to mistake 3rd for 5th gear (happened on the highway at 80Mph) lucky for me I clutched in just as the tach hit 6500.
  15. god that video is annoying.. I never slip like that going between gears. That reminds me of this guy with an 09 Sti at the train station at 2AM he was launching his car going up a hill.. He was dropping it at what sounded to be 3K but then the guys egged him on to go higher.. I was seriously waiting for a blow transmission. Then blame SOA for making a faulty car..
  16. nice pictures when the weather warms I will be doing the same minus taking off the heads.
  17. wow.. I don't have an answer for you but I have the same year car and I'm at 217,177 now good to know I can look forward to 300,000 and beyond!
  18. The transmission would not need to come out would it? other then removing the driveshaft?
  19. the tail housing does it have some kind of gasket? While waiting for the weather to warm up more I wanted to know where the possible area of a leak is at. The pictures I have don't really have a good view of where I'm talking about, But here is one here.
  20. The Duty C is the one with the red wire attached to it.
  21. I will hook my scope up to the sensor this weekend what should I expect to see as far as a normal range? and if it comes to replacing it is it nessary to drain the coolent?
