1997 outback abs module
1-3-2-4 replied to koybern's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIf it's like my 95 Legacy it's under the passenger's seat between the floor and the lip of the floor.. I had to take mine out when my car got flooded and dry it out.. it was kicking in locking my brakes doing 1 MPH.

Sagging 97 outback rar bumper
1-3-2-4 replied to 1-3-2-4's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'm not taking my camera gear out in the middle of here lol... funny thing it always seems to be a a wagon issue I've never seen it on a sedan. Almost all the used wagons had maybe a 3/4 gap with a little up and down play on the rear bumper. So when the guy hit me it must of pushed in and down so now it's a larger but now it's not able to move up and down.. it's just annoying to look at now that I know it's around. Here are some pictures I've found close to what I'm talking about the gap really shows where the side marker is for the turn signal, it's where the body panel meets the bumper. flush: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2d/1996-1998_Subaru_Outback_station_wagon_01.jpg Gap: http://usa-usedcars.com/upload/4000/max-20120211040619369.jpg

Sagging 97 outback rar bumper
First of all I've notice this is like on all the models but mine was never really an issue until about 2 weeks ago I got hit lightly in the rear and it seemed to really aggravate it. Does anyone know ways to make it so it does not have that gap in the rear?

Shifter Linkage Replacement
1-3-2-4 replied to doc526's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI don't have 5th gear and the bearings it's cheaper to just get a used one from a 98 Forester. I'm wondering if I should keep some stuff from the outback transmission like the center diff.

My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
looking in my FSM now and yeah you are right.. at least for the legacy 2.2 and 2.5 the 2.2 had a 5th gear ratio of .780 vs the outbacks .871 That's the only change? I wonder why that is.. Which Forester has a 4.111? I haven't heard that.. that's only when you start doing a sti upgraded center and rear LSD of a clutch type will it be a bit harder to handle. i don't care too much to upgrade the center but I plan on doing the rear down the road.

Front axle transmission seals
1-3-2-4 replied to Fairtax4me's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOld thread but when I get my transmission I was going to throw in the OBX front diff as well.. since it's my first time I'm in no rush.. I mean I've put almost 20K on a transmission with a iffy bearing out the output shaft and no 5th.. So it's doubtful it's going to just blow right up.. Anyways your post on the other page was the first i've seen of numbers of setting the backlash. having said that so the R&P does need to be reset then.. hmm I don't have that plate thing

Transmisson speed sensor
1-3-2-4 replied to 1-3-2-4's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell I think im sticking with the 97 OBW transmission so I think I should be ok with that.. but I swore I saw hear about somehow that the worm gear on the speed sensor got stripped.. maybe it was a bad dream And the bearing I'm talking about is the one on the diff I don't plan on throwing it right in the car as soon as i get it but spend my free spare time (about 3 weeks) to check everything and throwing in a front LSD I'd have to look the numbers up on the FSM about the backlash and preload

Transmisson speed sensor
1-3-2-4 replied to 1-3-2-4's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI thought I heard things of like stripped or broken speed sensors.. I mean I will be opening the replacement transmission anyways so I could always check with my scope. The bearing on the front diff requires a press right?

Transmisson speed sensor
For those that dropped in a replacement transmission did you just end up putting in a new speed sensor anyways? or just swapped from the old one?

My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
I wished my outback right now would be that rpm at 80 mph.. no 5th gear gives me like 5000.. I'm waiting for my income tax so I can go get a replacement transmission.. just to keep up at 80 mph (I don't do that all the time) I'm estimating I'm getting about 16 mpg with the EJ25. Since I'm most likely going to crack up the replacement tranny I was thinking about throwing in a front LSD at the same time.. I can't find one rear LSD for the R160.. well at least any decent used stuff. And I'm not talking about the wimpy Subaru.

Dash lighting.. dimmer.. somethings not right
1-3-2-4 replied to 1-3-2-4's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNah still can't dim anything right now it's stuck at a level that's about 2 clicks away from full dim So it's most likely the illumination control however I don't see any real testing for it. I know found a way to test the resistance on the control stalk for the headlights but I have to remove the horn pad to get to that right?

Dash lighting.. dimmer.. somethings not right
1-3-2-4 replied to 1-3-2-4's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXwell the reason why I said that in my last post is I've been around LED's for so long one person I know tells me I'm obsessed with them that I was shocked something so small would trip me up. And yeah I know about PWM dimming I'm about to put LED blinkers on my car and the hardest part with the layout was the front because how that bulb is a 1157 and how it blinks with the headlight on and turn signal on. I felt ok enough to order the parts this past Friday but will do some testing before putting it in the car. S-l-o-w-l-y I'm getting everything back that I lost when I totaled my other Lrgacy

And the funny thing is in that first shot I took in the house I did not know that was an AC output adapter lol hopefully I should have good news when I come back inside.
