  1. Shame for me not taking a picture last night but I was tired.. It does dim but not like the 194 ican bulbs that came out.. Anyways Where can I check the voltage at the connector? does it work without the gauge in the car?
  2. What about the brightness control fuse? I'm about to step outside to check that but I wanted to post this picture I just took showing that all the LED's still work.
  3. haha nipper I know all about magic smoke one too many got released when building circuits. Anyways the only thing that happened was two traces on the back of the cluster but it was just for the lighting.. took the cluster back in the house and tested the leads for the lighting and everything lit up like it should in the car only the speedo and fuel gauge light up along with all my warning lights (if I leave the key to on)
  4. How could it blow when the left side of the gauge cluster works?
  5. long story short I changed the dash lighting to an SMD LED lighting strip Apparently a small short happened because of a nicked wire when going back in. So I'm not sure how much needs to be hooked up but only one side is lighting up but when I bring the gauge in and test where the connector plugs in (powers all lights) All of them light up fine but when in the car only the part where the speed and fuel gauge lights up and i can't control how bright the dash gets.. having said that I did not have the whole bezel hooked up (fog light, cruise, rear defroster) but I don't think that would make much of a difference?
  6. When I changed mine about 3 months ago I used the Denso one on rockauto.. the one that is the OE one direct fit. It's perfect.. I still have the old one sitting on my desk funny thing is the sensor was fine but it was worth it to replace it anyways after 233K
  7. I still got my stock headers on my outback I did not take the headers from my 95 legacy after being totaled because with the motor pushed sideways a little I'm for sure thinking the headers got bent as well? Anyways I have a cat converter that I picked up on rockauto. it was for the other car... BUT I might put it on the outback I punched out some of the stuff inside to make it a bit high flow but I don't know if I can still pass emissions with it.. I wont know until that time comes. Right now i need a damn transmission LOL for a transmission that's had a hard life like this (seller let it run dry) which killed the bearings and 5th gear. I'm amazed I've put over 5K on it in this condition.. the first few weeks I had it the seal did not want to keep the oil in but now it's solid lol. I just gotta get a used one because running at like 4500 on the highway at 75 is not cool. I did find out 4th tops out around 115 Mph in 4th.
  8. LOL last time I ran with no headers is when I put on my UEL headers.. damn did the car sound like a beast and that was an EJ22 lol well I'm already running without a muffler now.. $40 to get pipe and have it bent? I'd have to get some picture how it broke it pretty much snapped flush with the flange.. I heard it maybe about 4 days before it snapped I thought it was the gasket because I saw the marks where the exhaust gas was going so anyways I take off from a light pretty slow and it got louder and also the sound of me dragging the pipe lol
  9. Ahh the UEL headers to this day i wonder if I should of tried to pull them from my totaled legacy but with the motor pushed back (clutch was stuck to the floor) I think they might of been bent? I just ordered some JDM projector headlights, bad news is about a week ago my exahust pipe the axle back just fell right from the flange from the center pipe.. rust got to it.. I'd need to get a shop to bend a new piece hopefully it wont cost more then $120
  10. Question I can't remember if I asked this before but.. OK so you wet sand lights or if it's not that bad polish it and all.. now people say to use a clear film over the lights.. but then I hear people say the lights will still haze and yellow over time? it's like I hear two different opinions over this.
  11. Last time I checked the synchro's aren't cheap.
  12. I was thinking when I buy my used transmission in Jan I was thinking about putting in a LSD at the same time. Just a few questions.. Where can I get gear marking paint? And What's a easy way to check the transmission before opening it up? I've never had one in front of me yet out of the car so I don't think you can turn it by hand out of the car? Since my car is a 97 Outback I'm 99% sure it's 4.11 only thing is I wonder if I should stick with a transmission from the outback? Was it the outback or the GT with the taller gearing?
  13. glad my valve cover gaskets don't leak since they are only maybe about 4-5 months old.. I did them when I did the headgaskets.. However... i might change them out next year for some fel-pro's I used Rockauto's DNJ gaskets and I had a little seepage on the underside of the cover. I did the gaskets on a friend's 2002 Forester it's fit was way better then the one I had for mine.. However his was a SOHC and my a DOHC but still the fit was better with the fel-pro.
  14. Yeah my crumbled too when I had to take my motor out to do the transmission.. I decided to hold off on my cover as well.
  15. Rust got to the axleback pipe.. Out of all my Subaru's I've owned this was the first time I've had this happen, At first I thought it was the gasket between the flange so I was going to wait until it stopped raining to change it.. However when I left from the light this morning it got louder and I heard scraping and sure enough broke clean off. I'm guessing a simple bend of the new pipe to match the old would be under $100?
  16. wow looks like i gained like 6 mpg just doing the plugs because the plug for #2 must of been dead.. I wont know my average till tomorrow.. No more lumpy idle and miss at idle. Funny the day I went to get the plug wires it was really bad
  17. I'd have to check these out seems handy to have I know I need to get a 10 mm wrench as well.
  18. ^%^&%$%$ finally came out.. Got under the car turned the hook sideways then back straight and pulled and This happened. Now I hope people can understand that piece from the wire. What a huge pain in the rump roast..
  19. Again how do you fit that in the spark plug hole? All of the pliers I've seen are straight tipped.. I'm working on the passenger side ( lucky day) I tried my niddle nose and it was nowhere near going in I'm going outside to try the coat hanger hook with some WD-40.
  20. How can you fit that in the plug hole? in the meantime I just took a wire hanger and made a sharp pointy tip.. maybe with some WD-40 I can yank it out?
