  1. hmm the manual says PFR5B-11? I'm looking at the service manual and it says this RC10YC4 .......... CHAMPION BKR6E-11 .......... NGK K20PR-U11 .......... NIPPONDENSO I'm not sure if it's the same as the owners manual but I'm not sure why it would say something different.. I think they are all copper plugs which is fine for me I guess no big deal.. Also no misfires this morning but it's been dry for the past 24 hours but I forgot to do the water mist last night but will do it tonight.
  2. wow i did not know it had a windows version.. too bad I don't have any laptop with windows on it.. I'm going to play with it later tonight
  3. Ok I'm going to do it tomorrow I was playing with the shifter yesterday and I see the area where I will have enough space but man rust :-/ I don't think I saw a spring on mine but I can take a picture for you Another question on the linkage at the top is that a nut I feel? I'm not sure how long these are meant to last for but any issues sliding the new one on? here is a video showing how sloppy it is
  4. Wow that program looks nice I take it it's linux right? Which is good because I have a tablet pc that is running it. I already have a USB to serial cable.
  5. I will let you know Can the hydraulic system be done by one person as far as getting the air out? I was going to get something to suck the fluid out so the air wont be trapped in? i get to drain the tranny fluid tomorrow so I will see how bad things look.. just going to use ramps tomorrow How much do you think that this nut on 5th gear backed off?
  6. Hmm I think I have a break in the weather on Friday albeit cloudy... because I have no 5th gear I'm going to go ahead and take off the rear housing cover. I'm not sure if the nut back off or the shift fork is bent. While I'm at it I should do the shifter linkage.. this is the sloppiest shifter ever I noticed subaru has like 3 different part numbers for the shift fork for 5th gear.. one being mark 4" and the other being mark 6" and the other not saying anything at all *edit the mark number should be stamped on the fork
  7. enjoying the afternoon sun I was looking in the owner booklet and someone kept the sales slip for when they had service on the car.. they had the Timing belt and water pump and a few other things changed at 66,600 miles One question.. and I remember this well trying to change the spark plugs on the 98 Forester.. I forgot whats the best way to get to the driver side spark plugs? It's a super tight fit.. Also checking the valves I'd have to check the write up someone from here did but they can be done in the car right?
  8. I got it somewhat.. others with a MY year mine have the same issue sometimes it shows and sometimes not.. it's a program issue in the software and not the hardware. I did get it to show my oxygen sensor data and throttle and coolant temps so it works but you have to mess around with it a bit.
  9. When I picked it up yesterday
  10. hmm... sucks I ran out of intake cleaner.
  11. got pictures and some macro pictures! You could not pay me to tow anything with this.. http://www.drawtite-hitches.com/products/Class_II__1_1_4_inch_Receiver_Hitch,36234
  12. Nice I can't wait to get rid of my outback wheels haha almost time for the summer wheels to go on
  13. man that thing is up under the dash good I really still cant tell what model it is.. Is it worth saving? I just want the keyless entry lol. I'm so close to just ripping it out and installing the factory keyless entry.
  14. Wait I see my mistake in the picture lol Codes: 26 56 51 Just cleared it so we will see cleared the code and only 26 came back.. Right Rear sensor.. i'd have to check it when I take the wheels off
  15. The 20A fuse in car is good How do you clear the codes it might work to give me another code
  16. My abs light is on and im trying to get the code now.. I pluged the pins in 3 & 6 but the car just flashes the abs light a single time and thats it
  17. I have this ELM327 scantool for my 1997 outback to pair the device the passkey is 6789.. So I did that and I use the program called torque and it says it's connected to the device but I don't see any live data from it and it wont read any of the ECM codes or anything like that when I had the CEL on. Anything I did wrong that I can think of? This is the one I have here http://cgi.ebay.com/ELM327-OBDII-OBD2-V1-4-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Interface-/290557937261?_trksid=p4340.m444&_trkparms=algo%3DCRX%26its%3DC%252BS%26itu%3DSI%252BUA%252BLM%252BLA%26otn%3D10%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8591180643441608201
  18. Yeah I'm sure it's one or the other.. the past owners did not do so well in taking care of this car.. Funny thing is I don't feel a loss of power unlike the last time I had a misfire in the 98 Forester back in 2000. This morning I was at 4K and I noticed the light blinking.. I'm going to go clear the code again but I'm going to also do the water spray test as well.
  19. Thanks it feels nicer then my other car however I think the rear sway bar is bigger? It sure does feel like it.. For testing yesterday when it was wet it was easy to go sideways if forced.
  20. I can try this when I get home I havent checked the vavles yet I do have a vac gauge to checl
  21. Its been damp and rainy since I got the car... Wires dont look oem and my 3 week old NGK wires only fit my ej22 Car is 97 outback
  22. Have not got to the plugs yet but failing coil pack? I felt no loss in power light would blink once in awhile but not all the time.
