  1. haha for sure
  2. That's weird the first thing I thought of is how much did they spend wasting bulbs lol
  3. Hey so you know I took my whole gauge out of the car before they got rid of it.. So I happen to look at the back for the first time and I noticed while my car was AWD and a 5 MT they had a bulb in the socket hole for the TCS indicator.. I thought that was a bit weird.
  4. Heh it seems pretty straight forward in doing the timing belt haha just a bit more effort
  5. I wanted to see what the going rate was...
  6. yeah try using some Pb blaster and if that does not work I've used my feet and I've used a jack to help break it loose.
  7. I just checked ebay and I saw nothing unless I searched wrong.. most everything was all new rear diffs from a forester XT or wrx or the sti.
  8. trust me it will turn I use a 1/2" 18" breaker bar (I have air tools now) and while it feels loose it will be fine and wont strip. As for filling the rear you can be creative.. I've just poured the bottle in until it started to pour out of the top hole.. OR you can get tired of that and buy a push pump that screws on the bottle
  9. haha last DOHC car I had was the 98 Forester car has 220K on it.
  10. nope it's a DOHC
  11. Hmm I see I found a site that talks about the subaru rear diffs I guess for use on Nissan cars all the 80's models seem to be 3.70 or 3.90
  12. Interesting that when it happened my clutch stuck to the floor and the car was stuck in 1st gear I don't think its any good anymore other then the sound when letting off the throttle I had no problems with it. I will be bringing home a 97 outback in a few days so I will have my first hand look of having to open the transmission Should be fun I kinda miss working on the Subaru.
  13. But the older models used a VLSD? I swear someone had a site up that showed what years used what.
  14. too much play in the R&P I'm sure shims would of helped but that tranny wont be spinning anymore :-\
  15. Well here is what i figured out.. Sorry for my friend's dog barking lol she hates other dogs lol
  16. has anyone ever did a rear LSD?
  17. haha I just better remember to put on the steel toes that day
  18. it's not really the weight of it I'm going to guess it's around 30-36" long? btw I'm 125 Lb so haha getting it from the trunk is going to be interesting but doable.
  19. I know I have to open it up to see what's going on.. Anyways does anyone know the length of the transmission? Will it fit in the back of a ford taurus?
  20. you can hear the guy around 1:02 haha
  21. nice they should of came factory... I got yelled at by a driver why doing a video in my car and you can hear him say "use your signal" and in my video you can see my signal was flashing before I pulled up to the stop sign heh.
  22. Well I will update when I pull the transmission I will pick up the jack hopefully same day i don't know how quick I will get to the transmission, I just don't know if the jacks I have now are high enough I get about 17" of lift from them.
  23. I'm just as eager to open it up as anyone else but just set screws? Is that where they bend at? I remember when it last snowed I tried to pull a subie out of a snow bank in reverse and I noticed when I was unable to.. (I needed studs) When it was time to go back into 1st my car got stuck in rev for a few and i remember for a few days I had a hard time getting in and out of 4th gear but it was mostly when pulling out but it smoothed out
  24. Well I was going to ask because I'm searching here and i don't (so far) see any thread where someone replaced any of the shift forks.. the good thing is at least online at subaru parts it's $44 But how are they on the shift linkage? Are they held in by a pin or something like that? but until I open up the trans it's unknown to all of us what happened
