  1. I want it.....cute as hell Ive only ever seen one other and that was in malta in 1996,along with a 360 and an early rear engined Rex which was also awesome, sadly havent been able to find any of them on my return trips to malta
  2. Hi all Does anyone know why i would have the battery meter, stop lamp and brake fluid lamps illuminated on the dash at all times? Sometimes very dim, other times quite bright even when driving...tends to vary depending on engine speed, sometimes makes no difference they stay on Battery is holding charge, have no issues starting even if left for a week or two and meter on dash is stating its charging and rising and falling with revs Have noticed f i disconnect the block connector from the back of the alternator the lamps all go out.... Help please, its an 84 GLF hatchback, guessing its just a dodgy connector somewhere but just wondered if anyone else has had same issue before i start replacing alternator etc Thankyou
  3. not much progress tbh owain still waiting on the new screen, got to pick it up next week then its welding the rest of the floor before it all gets refitted.....its kinda been sidetracked by the datsun 120y ive just bought :-\ So now im wondering if its worth me getting it painted and swapping the drivetrain for the 1800,be sily not to now its all pretty much stripped and theres no rush for it.....
  4. Come on owain you can do better than that There you go Glad to see you on here.hope your keeping well, must catch up sometime
  5. Ive got a datsun 210 too lol its a 78 coupe,i love it,thankfully it didnt need anywhere near as much work as the scoob to get it on the road,i was very lucky.
  6. I reckon so mate, ireland has a worse climate than ours lol so your chances would be very slim,i have heard of a couple of L- series (gen 3 Leone) still surviving over there tho,or you could always pop over here and pick up a brat, still plenty of them about
  7. Awesome,i like seeing other peeps working on theirs...i need to get my arse in gear and pull mine out of the garage,it will be on the road this summer!!
  8. Good point, done Will see whats going down and let you all know, just heard its possibly going to be scrapped anyway as the mounting bolts for the rear trailing arms sheared their captive nuts inside the sill when being removed for replacement earlier :-\
  9. Nope its a 2.0 lol,we get them and the 2.2 over here theres no rust in the frame to speak of,in fact it just had its very first plates put on the outer rear sill edges only yesterday.
  10. Nope, its a bog standard manual 5 speed box, standard suspension, wheels etc drives perfectly once shaft is replaced, have been replacing it with new aftermarket ones, genuine subaru ones here are more than what the cars worth!! As said before,no extreme use, just a slightly rutted track up to where it lives and thats only about 500 yards long. Left side hasnt been replaced once that i know of,just find it odd it likes the right side ones
  11. Anyone shed any light on this as its starting to baffle me a bit. Its a 98 legacy 2.0 GL wagon that belongs to a friend and in the last 3 years ive had to fit 4 new driveshafts to the front right wheel as it keeps chewing the outer cv joint off...... The last 2 times its done it its made no warning noises, clicking etc just snapped them clean out, then it refuses to move, just sits there spinning the broken shaft..... Any ideas? its not getting used particularly hard,no towing or anything, never been in an accident to misalign anything, slightly bumpy track up to where it lives but thats about it... How is it that it doesnt attempt to move using the other 3 wheels? i know on an ea82 itll still move if you remove the broken shaft and pop it in 4wd,is it just a newer soob thing with it being permanent 4wd? Pete
  12. Yeh thats it,you will need to remove the little parcel shelf from under the glovebox and peel back a bit of the sound deadening but otherwise its fairly easy to see providing your fairly flexible! lol If youve got the seats out youve got a bit more room to get under there anyway
  13. welcome to the world of gen1 subarus lol you have the same problem as pretty much all of us on here, theres a few threads ive seen including mine http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=127261 in which you can see ive had to replace both front floorpans, the bit the seat bolts onto is not "structural" as such and can be removed by drilling out the spotwelds and some light encouragement with a chisel Would also be worth checking up under the dash in the corner where the bulkhead meets A pillar/scuttle panel too as if its gone that bad on the floor it may well have gone there and thats a *************** to replace but you might be lucky. Good luck
  14. This is interesting... On my ea81 hatch i was playing around the other day as ive got an issue with very low idle on tickover that comes and goes when the engines hot.. I just happened to remove the oil filler cap and the revs picked up and it idles perfectly...replace it and it goes back to stuttery ......odd bearing in mind its a uk car so i dont have anywhere near as much of the emissions pipework you guys have,i think its got one if not two tiny little valve things on the breather pipes, possible one of those is blocked?
  15. Not sure if this is the right place for this, thought it might be of interest. Came across it whilst searching for an early sambar. Not much info on it unfortunately but looks tidy all the same. http://maltapark.com/cars/item.asp?ItemID=1460955 Pete
  16. Thats lovely You guys are bloody lucky to be able to still find stuff like that im lucky now if i ever come across an L series in half decent condition.
  17. Managed to get the crystal headlamps and early style front end fitted this weekend, big thanks to leoneturbo for the indicator/sidelamp units Just the bumper to swap over now
  18. Little bit more progress here,i managed to break the 2nd hand windscreen i had whilst fitting it so its currently residing in the garage to prevent it filling up with water and rotting out the new metalwork. I had the front end off it yesterday to replace the battered and bent front bumper/valance and have a play with the fender mirrors Had the wings off too to waxoyl the inner wings, suprisingly solid. New front panel looks scabby,it isnt its just a bad paint job and green moss lol
  19. You guys have trouble getting hood release cables and 4wd shift knobs? Ive got quite a few of those, seem plentiful over here. Windscreens are an issue tho,ive had to have one made for my wagon, only cost 170 quid tho so about the same as anything else. Id like the mudflaps off that one should they become availible oh and the black plastic strips from along the top of all 4 doors if you can get them off without breaking them and also the rear side marker lamps lol the more i look at it the more i want. Pete
  20. Love the pics cant wait to get mine done,i had a bit of a setback the other day where i broke the windscreen refitting it so have to wait 4 weeks for a new one to be made as they are like rocking horse **** over here :-\
  21. Bit more progress todays,i now haz floor on one sides ;D sparky sparky.... Mr grunty.... Still welding when it got dark.... I also waxoyled down in the front scuttle whilst ive got the dashout as it was looking dubious down there....
  22. Mine seems to be fine up there, despite the amount of rust ive had to cut out the front floorpans..... Doesnt stop me running out and checking it everytime someone mentions it on here tho!! The old pickup i stripped a coupla weeks agowas rotten there,i could put my hand up through the other side!!
