FUEL FILTER question
So I replaced the rear fuel filter today... The new one and the one that came off were different, but still fit... The previous one came off right side up (hose lines on top) but because of the spacing of the new fuel filter, it would only fit upside down... am I risking anything like this? Pics below... This is the nasty fuel filter I took off. Heres the replacement one, hooked up to the proper lines, and in place (upside down) QUESTION AGAIN: Since the fuel filter only fit upside down, am I harming anything by having it this way, or should I try and fit it right side up?

I will look around. My front tires are ready to blow, so those are going to be the first things I replace for tires, can run my spare if needed, but hope to put two used on the front, and replace the axle boot and the wheel bearing. Project now: rear fuel filter

What to do while engine is out?
^ Thats not too bad, and youre doing it yourself which is even better... Hell, I took my 84 DL into the shop to have my window looked at and they estimate $675-$800 to get my window going up and down... Yea wind flow isnt that important to me, I have other priorities.

What to do while engine is out?
Whew, glad I never had to replace the clutch on my 92 subaru loyale, I woulda hated having to pull the engine... Suppose Ill have to anyway, but I wont have timing belts to replace whoohoo EA81s. Now, since the engine is pulled, wouldnt it be helpful to do the headgaskets? or at least check them? I see ALOT of Loyales on Craigslist at 180k miles, or 220k miles that need HGs and they are all so cheap because of it, so would it be good to change it?

So I Totaled My Car...
I understand his mentality, and it could be my same disease... But So far since my 1992 Subaru from my dad, Ive owned and driven a 1998 Mitsubishi, 1984 GL wagon and (driven) another 1992 Loyale and now owning a 1984 DL Sedan. None of these cars feel like "mine" had. But it was mostly because my Dad gave it to me when he moved to Arizona and I had wrenched on it for 8 years with him... So I understand it, perhaps if my Dad came up and wrenched on my 84 with me, it would feel more like mine? Thats my .02.

Stock tire sizes...
So, I figure this could be an ongoing forum posting for those that need it.. But right now I need to know. Been searching C-List for tires. Right now my Subaru (1984 Subaru DL Sedan) has these: 155/80/R13 79T So that means 155mm, 13in wheel and an 80 profile tire. IS THIS STOCK? Ive heard 175/80/R13 was stock...

Power steering?
I will stay with same size. I want to get 175s or 185s since its got 155s on it now.

Looking for lifted Loyale/GL wagon
Its a maroon one. Lifted. Kinda dirty looking... Ive seen him pull into the Westview parking lot and saw him going down 185th in Beaverton Oregon. It had a WCSS sticker in the back left window, but of course my light was red long enough that he got away, anyone know him?

Power steering?
$150 is pretty steep right now. First order of business is the alternator $90 for a reman - $20 when I bring my old one back in. Then probably a new battery Then new tires (can I get mismatched ones since mines FWD?) Then will come power steering, new stereo, new speakers (I have these weird ones in the dash and thats ALL I see lol) etc. No lift plans or 4WD plans at the moment.

Power steering?
How much? Probably wont happen right this minute as I still owe my sister some money, but it will be done eventually, but what costs am I looking at?

Wheel bearings says Autozone when I rolled up today to check alternator and battery. Battery might not be shot, but the Alternator is

Power steering?
Vehicle is a 1984 Subaru DL sedan. Original EA81 engine. No mods. How difficult and costly would it be to put power steering on this? Is it possible, and what issues would ensue after going from size 155 tires to 185s?

I will take a video tomorrow... PO had seats reversed... Like COMPLETELY. Rails were even on the wrong seats Had to pull both seats out, switch the rails, and put the seats back... Wondering why I couldnt recline my seat... Cause they were JAMMED into the center console and you couldnt reach the reclining handle.. Bent the center console up too

Yes, I have a camera... which I will record a video about it. Not sure how to upload. But its me turning it on, and when its cold, I give it gas ( I know it has a flat spot) and it runs okay, but then if I take my foot off the gas, it shutters for a few seconds and dies. I can also record a video of the squeaking it makes when Im driving from the front right wheel.

175s would still be wider than the 155s that are on there now. Any ideas on my startup issue? Seems to happen when cold... Any ideas too on if I can put Power Steering on this?

Update for today (so far) -Just washed it... white pretty much washed off... not all the way, but rag kept swiping across white and the water was a mucky gray when it came off? -Sister wanted to drive it... Parked at an angle facing the street (front end lower than back end) it started, but didnt stay running once gas pedal was depressed. Carb issue? -No update on Tach as of 3:25pm here (Oregon) since its sitting in the sun to dry, then I will pull it in the driveway and get to work on that Tach Questions: What size tire can I go up to? Theyre 13s, but Ive got 155s on there, it feels like a bicycle lol. Maybe 185? 195? Can I put power steering on this? I like the arm workout... but well, its a pain.

How do I pull that plastic (just for referring to this tomorrow when Im pulling it apart, I dont mess anything up) This car will probably be at WCSS13 looking very clean, so screwing stuff up isnt really an option for me... Which is why I hammer the experts as yourself for your advice
-

I shall how hard will it be to get to that part of the instrument cluster?
-
Bringing home a new one...
Its wired in... So I shouldnt have to mess with that right? It moves up and down, but today I drove up (first time bringing home) and I let the neighborhood know I was there, probably 4500-5000 rpms and it showed me at 11 (X1000) rpms and I was like, yea, no.
