  5. Welcome to the board! Im pretty new to the site... Ive been a member for awhile but just recently been on every day.. Great people, very friendly.. Im gettin an 84 GL and Im near Portland, would be interested in seeing you work on yours if youre up to it
  6. I already do Met several good people on here.. Interested in coming to NW Washington Offroad next year when I fix up my subie (I am buying Scrap487's 1984 GL) Super excited for that Have big plans. Thanks guys. Glad to be part of what Im sure you all (as well as me) consider to be one big crazy family!
  7. I am thinking of buying a 1984 GL I want to get a 2, 4 or 6 inch lift on it. My friend is gonna give me his 31 inch tires... But I wanna know what kinda costs Im looking at... Much appreciated
  8. Well, my name is Marshall. Im 18 years old. I love Subarus (as we all) I personally only really like the older ones 80s-94 and the 2003 WRX and 2009+ WRX hatch. I had a 1992 but sold it (bangs head on wall, bangs head on wall again) Now Im looking at buying Scrap487's 1984 GL. I plan to lift it and put some "real" tires on it and go have fun in the mud. Im located in Hillsboro Oregon Wouldnt mind befriending people in the area (or around Oregon) and many others for advice, or if you wanna brag about your Subaru, Id love to hear, and see stories, videos, pics and even the real thing if youre nearby. Other than that, Im open to questions and stuff.
  9. Ken block is my hero lol I love ALL of his cars... I mean personally, I really only like older subarus, 2003 WRX, 2009+ WRX but still, his soobs are godsends
  10. I havent bought the car yet, I plan to in the next week, but I just wanna make sure that Im not looking at replacing an engine.
  11. Any idea what the cause of it not starting all the sudden would be?
  12. Unsure if this is just the HG. Heres the ad: 1988 Subaru GL-10 AWD This wagon has a blown head gasket but is extremely straight and has great interior with a working power sunroof. It also has an automatic transmission and it is full time 4 wheel drive. It has 179,360 miles on it and is the turbo model. My wife was driving it one day and I got a call that the car had lost power so she brought it home. When I checked it out, I noticed white smoke pouring out of the exhaust and it didn't have very good compression. It hasnt been messed with since. I did try to start it but couldn't get it to start. I'm looking to get $250 firm and I may even have an extra set of tires for it. I really want this subaru... SOOO.... If its a good deal for the price, I will do it, cuz I have some experience with Subies.
  13. I made the worst decision in January and sold my 92 Loyale to buy a 1998 Mitsubishi.. Due to mechanical issues, I wrecked the Mitsubishi... and with the money from the accident, Im going to buy another subaru. 1988 Subaru GL Wagon. The guy says it has headgasket issues, but runs (and drives?) and will let it go for $300 Im super excited, and Ive worked on my 92 a lot, but Im unsure about headgaskets... Is this something I can repair myself, or would I be better off finding a different subaru I really dont wanna take it to a mechanic though...
  14. Thank you GeneralDisorder (Rick) for help on that, I just got them pulled out and they will await new seatbelts this weekend or next (ill have them saturday but will I install them Lol Thanks to all.
  15. Yes unfortunately these are shoulder belts and I think my friend may have broken the driver side (not like I had working seatbelts before) But it looks complicated
  16. Hi again, Ive looked and seatbelts arent helping on the search... But I will be getting new seatbelts and seats on Saturday (my pit had his way with my driver seats and ALL seatbelts... I got them unbolted from below the seats, but I cant seem to figure out how to take them off the reels (on the wagon) there isnt a bolt or anything that my naked eye can see... THIS IS FOR MY REAR SEATBELTS, HAD A MECHANIC DO THE FRONT ONES WHEN A FIX IT TICKET WAS ISSUED. Any advice?
  17. Thats a bit far lol
  18. Thank you, it may be a paycheck or two before I can get it installed though, so keep in touch
  19. Thank you:) will go look now Its in Oregon near Portland
  20. So Ive been on here before, when I wasnt sure if I was going to get my 1992 Subaru Loyale and keep it, or trade it for a Toyota with less miles. IVE DECIDED TO KEEP THE SUBIE! SHES A GREAT CAR! My questions: I need a new transmission and will be looking for a used one on Craigslist. What transmission will fit (hopefully easily) to the current engine? (As in which other year/model of subaru can I tear apart to find one?) Recently, I saw a guy put a WRX engine inside of his Loyale wagon. Obviously he replaced the brakes, transmission and suspension, but what would be necessary to put a WRX or 2.5RS engine in my subaru and how much would this cost(using secondhand parts)? MY CAR: Baby Blue 1992 Loyale Wagon FWD (with pushbutton 4WD) 5 Speed Manual 294XXX miles (all on stock engine and transmission) Shes not the nicest of all Subaru's but hey, she was free and her "sister" has 684k miles and is doing just fine
  21. Thanks guys I guess since my dream car is a 2003 Subaru WRX that Ill just save up for it and continue to nurse my transmission til I can afford one. I found one that had a minor wreck for 2800, needs new trunk, spoiler and bumper. Might do that in a while.
  22. I have a 1992 Subaru Loyale Wagon... Basic stock piece of (GRRR) Its my first car and of course I wanna make it look like its a beast. I want a bigger exhaust, I already have an aftermarket Borla 2 inch. Want something bigger and meaner. Maybe sound like a 2003 WRX? I want new lights (mine have burn marks from a dumb friend) Rear and front. I can figure rims, the 5X100 bolt pattern is common. I can figure seats and stuff. Also wondering what if any, beefy engine will fit in it, with transmission. I grew up on a farm and have been driving for 11 years and illegally on the road for 5 years and legally for almost 3 with NO ACCIDENTS or CLOSE CALLS. So I think my first car will last me awhile, I mean come on, she is a Subie. Any advice or familiar wants would be appreciated. My dad gave her to me and I wanna keep her around.
  23. So when I see on craigslist (website for selling/buying/trading) that there is a Subaru transmission out of a 2003 Subaru 2.5RS, or 2005 Subaru outback etc... they should fit my Subie? If not. What years am I looking for. Also wanting to know if anyone knows where I can find aftermarket tail lights, exhaust and wheels, and seats. I found seats out of a 2004 WRX STI (will those fit?) I found seats out of a 2003 Acura RSX (will those fit?)
