  1. I have a ways to go... Im just shy of 10 years as a master tech.
  2. R160's are on everything from late 70's EA81s to brand new WRXs R180's are only on 6 speed STI's and very few JDM 5 speed STi the R160 has a 160mm ring gear and the R180 has a stronger 180mm ring gear.
  3. After having a 6Speed in my car for over a year, and the matching R180 sitting on the shelf in my grage, i finaly got the parts i needed to Hybrid my axles to install it in my car... The same parts that i had made will work to mate WRX shafts to 05+ STi inner joints so you can install a R180 diff and keep your R160 hubs. PM me in interested in more information.
  4. the inspiration was my own car. here is another pic that i took... more pictures on my web sight... http://www.suberdave.com
  5. they are spoked wheels, and are very much spinning... i am running an AWD STI 6speed.

  7. for go the EJ22 and go with a EJ18 if you want easy and simple. the EJ18 has less than half the wiring that the EJ22 has. bullit proof block and good power.
  8. Well i have been playing around with wordpress pages for a few months now. I finaly set down and put one togther for my sight. it is mostly about my Subarus (mainly my wagon) so i thought it was ok to post a link here. Check it out and let me know what you think.. www.suberdave.com
  9. So i have had my car for 5 years now, I have washed it maybe 15 times. And never waxed. The weather has been nice, atleast we havent had rain for the better part of a week... So i got some time and did a good wash and wax on my car. Yesterday i went to the store. bought some goodies: Turtle Wax Ice car wash Turtle Wax Ice clay bar kit Turtle Wax Ice liquid wax New again stuff for the black and here is the results: Ill take it out and get some better pictures when the light is better tomorrow... Now that i washed it.... look out for rain!!!
  10. well in a car that is not lifted you have to cut and shorten the EJ linkage about an inch. both sections. with your car being lifted. you may not have to do anything. the extra inch may help. then you just have to find a way to hold up the back of the shifter linkage. i have done it two ways. i have used the EJ bushing and bolted it to the trans tunnle. or i have used the EA bushing and adapted it to the linkage.
  11. Just pull the diff. it takes like 15 mins and 4 tools 10mm for the drive shaft 17mm for the front diff hanger 19mm for the mustash bar punch and hammer for the axles... is there a reason you dont want to pull the rear diff?
  12. hey that looks just like my garage...
  13. Im pretty sure thats not a MAP sensor. (manifold absolute pressure sensor) But a BARO sensor. (barometric pressure sensor) A map would have to have a vacuum hose coming from the manifold and plugged into the ECU. I have never seen a stock subaru with a vacuum line, however i have seen them with a hole that looks like a BARO sensor.
  14. why would you go and spend money on traceing paper. i just took a blank sheet of paper put it over my picture and taped it to a window, about drawing higth. of course this only works when its light out...
  15. my son is 10 months old next week...
  16. i guess i should let you all know, i am not an artist. i did not free hand it. i traced a picture then colored it. i wish i could free hand like this...
  17. well i had some time while my son was sleeping, so i got a pencil and some paper, here is what i came up with: i tryed to clean it up with the computer... I think i like it better before the computer cleanup...
  18. the EA would not bolt upto the EJ trans. it would be to deep. you can go the other way around EJ onto EA, with an adapter plate, due to the fact that you need the extra distance between the engine and trans. but not the other way around.
  19. im assumeing front? i beleave its a 36mm i use a 1 7/16 its a little big, but it works.
  20. I have done 5+ hydro conversons. But i have always swaped an EJ turbo engine and the EJ trany at the same time. The pedal box from a WRX will bolt right in, bolts to the back of the brake booster. You have to drill 3 holes in the fire wall, two for bolts and one for the clutch master to stick through. at that point you just have to connect the slave to the trany and blead the line. Ok so i know its a little more work than that but its an easy day job for most. I was running an EJ 5 speed, and i now have an EJ 6 speed in my 88 GL-10...
  21. Not trying to be mean... but why? What are your goals in doing this? What is wrong with the cable clutch? you can runn a plenty strong enough clutch with a cable...
  22. so are you trying to put a hydro clutch setup on an EA trany, or are you putting an EJ hydro clutch in your EA car?
  23. according to their websight none of those 3 have been taken...
  24. many people have lowered GL's few different ways to do it. you can buy cheep Ebay adjustable coilover sleeves and springs. i did this once, the ride was vary stiff but it looked cool... if you search subaru_styles did a thread on lowering: Here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51023 and here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31804 or if you want the best results you can do what i did, i put Tein Flex coilovers: Found Here http://www.suberdave.com/subaru/Leone/flex/index.htm good luck...
