  1. been a super busy summer but slowing down I am up for meting and actually doing it if anyone is still interested
  2. 78 brat , ea81 with a dr 4 speed, dual exhaust, 6 lug conversion, 4 inch lift, new tires, paint, and bed liner, and it is a soft top. still have lots of work to do to make everything handle and stop rattling. I can't find new struts for this thing at all.
  3. I ran into the same problem but have not fixed it yet. for now I have a clunk when I turn from the double knuckle turning over
  4. 78 brat. ea81 with 4speed d/r tranny, dual exhaust which is currently cut off a touch short. roll on bedliner and shiny new paint. 4" lift and different shocks in rear. has a custom soft top that also snaps on and is totally water tight. Still have some carb issues and motor needs some oil seals replaced. Also did the six lug conversion with 15 inch wheels and brand new 215 tires
  5. I am game for this. I also have two 1.6 motors that run and two four speed tranny's that I don't need if anyone in the area wants. I live in the CDA area
  6. is that the one that was for sale in spokane/coeur d'Alene if it is that used to see it all over. they drove it pretty hard but it looked cool
  7. here is my brat loaded down when I went camping over in montana. one of the scariest drives I have ever been on since the front end was so light it had delayed steering. I tried to make the picture larger but the quality was terrible
  8. okay I will try that, unfortunately I damaged a pair of $80 shocks trying to make them fit, and they didn't and now I can't return them.
  9. cut out the rubber in the bottom attachment? the part with the wings? I seen the pics of the upper mount you made but not the bottom if you did anything there
  10. 78 brat, stock 1.6 and a 4 speed, just put fresh paint and 4 inch lift on it. It has a removable soft top also. I have a 1.8 and a d/r 4 speed that will go in this spring. I sanded some cabinet doors for a friend to get the car. the lift is not on yet in these pics
  11. looks good man, I hate and love seeing builds like this. I only hate it because it took me almost three weeks just to build a lift for my old brat, and I had to make some pieces three times. nice work though
  12. just throwing this in the thread so someone doesnt make the same mistake I did, I have a 78 brat and the monroe shocks that were in this thread will not work on it because the lower portion is different. I am on my third set of shocks trying to find something to work. Once I actually find some the lift is complete.
  13. I finished the paint job on my 78 brat, put the roll on bed liner in yesterday and am making the last two pieces for my four inch lift today. hoping that by the end of the week I can have it on and get wheels and tires ordered. I will get some pics out soon, the paint turned out good for a rookie
  14. seen on an old post that you had a used weber carb for an ea71. Do you still have it? If you do I am in Otis Orchards

  15. edited post. found what I needed and can't delete the thread
  16. HI GD, I am surfung through threads looking for ones that I have found in the past and can't seem to find them. If I remember right you were posting on a lot of them. I havea 78 brat and want to put a 82 or 84 1.8 into it with the 4 speed dual range tranny. Will it bolt in or do I need the rearend out of that car as well and what about the coil or something like that? I read somewhere that I needed it to make the dual range work. Thanks for any help in finding old threads that talk about this or any answers. cant find the thread that lists what each motor is from and years ie: ea71 ea81 ej...

  17. I just found a gen 1 cluster with a tach at the junkyard, there might have been another one there. I will probably be going out there again soon if you want me to look let me know. My gen 1 brat didn't have a tach so I have to figure out how to make this one work.

  18. I welded up a leak in my dual exhaust that was right in front of the glass pack. Did a horrible weld job but hey the bigger the glob the better the job. Also put some walmart high tech seat covers on. But I think my tranny is on its last leg.
  19. Are the 4 and 6 inch lifts made the same? I read stuff of people having problems with the cross member when they lift over 4? Do you still sell lift kits? if you do how much are they?

  20. Do you have any idea if that EJ18 would fit in a gen I or is the frame not wide enough as that seems to be the restrictions I read about. What kind of horsepower do you get out of that motor?

  21. That is a super clean brat. I love all the mods your doing. Do you have a thread anywhere of putting that motor in it? Any special place your getting motors or just e-bay or?

  22. Are the 6" lifts the same as the 4" just taller. I have heard people talk about the crossmember being in the way for a 6" lift. Also I was wanting to switch the tranny for a 5 speed with hi/low? Do some of the 82-84 wagons have that set-up? Do you think the rear-end from one of them is better than what I have in there? (just the stock gen I)

  23. Actually i was thinking of going up there, I went a couple years ago and had a blast. my brat doesn't have a lift yet though so I doubt they would fit.
