  1. well, good. run fry greese in your pickup and hitler-mobile. that's not the topic here. the topic is subarus. subarus do not run on veg. oil, and until they do, everyone knows how much gas mileage subarus get and in the mean time if you want to complain about it buy something else i speak for myself and i feel that i speak for many many people on this board when i say we're tired of hearing about it. at least once a week there's a new thread posted by a new member about how to improve their gas mileage (that normally isn't bad to begin with i.e. 24mpg in a turbo wagon). i say, unless you're throwing a CEL and getting 8mpg, either quit whining or buy something else, all of that information is on the board already, there's no need to take up space on the forum for something as tired as the "i get crap gas mileage" topics. in fact, i suggest that the moderators make a whole new topic section for people to cry about it so that people like me who want to hear about new cool things and interesting concepts and fun stories don't have to waste out time sifting through useless threads about pointless topics.
  2. it doesn't work that way. chemicals need to be added to the veggi oil in order for it to burn properly.
  3. yeah, i'm sure i've drank nearly that much...most likely after a football game back in highschool. but that doesn't deter from the point that subaru's are not gas anorexic.
  4. how did you find a brand new "still in the wrapper" EJ22 being that they discontinued it in ... 1999 i believe
  5. i don't think you should join another Subaru forum either. i don't say that because of your comments about the forester, you just need to do more research to find out what common problems a car has before buying it and then weigh the pros and cons. by the way...cougars are chick cars.
  6. look, i know people are going to see this thread and try and "prove me wrong" but it won't. those of you getting that good of gas mileage are lucky and fall under my "some of you get good mileage..." comment. i'm happy for you that you get good mileage. my point is that you shouldn't buy a subaru thinking it's a honda and then come on this forum asking how to improve mileage on a 2 year old car and then b!ching about it because it's NOT a honda. go cry to Fuji and the EPA.
  7. hence my 17mpg. the engine is flat for a reason, the suspension sport tuned for a reason, and the sidewalls are short for a reason.
  8. i'm so tired of people complaining about thier bad gas mileage. i just read (on the 5th page of this forum) about a guy complaining about getting 24MPG ON A 06 TURBO WAGON. LOOK, EVERYONE HERE GETS BAD GAS MILEAGE. with the exeption of a few people, subaru gas mileage sucks. you don't buy a subaru for gas mileage. you buy a subaru for reliability, longevity, uniqueness, and AWD. YOU WILL NOT GET 30MPG IN A SUBARU!! GET OVER IT my 96 legacy auto gets 17 mpg AND I LOVE IT! i wouldn't trade my car for anything because i love my car. if i were worried about gas mileage i'd buy a 82 nissan sentra manual and get 42 mpg. their subaru's....they're thirsty....but they're worth it.
  9. 96 legacy here. my gas guage is off too, it like to go to empty after 1/2 tank. drive it a while, get to know the gas mileage and use your trip odometer i've driven imprezas with the shifting problem. i have no idea. maybe get a short throw shifter?? replace the clutch, or at least check it for wear. those dash (heater/ac/etc.) lights burn out ALL THE TIME. i've replaced them once, and they went out a couple of months later. the bulbs are like 7 bucks a piece and they should be in stock because they sell a lot of them.
  10. oh, and the tranny fluid leaking, seals get old, loose their hold, and start leaking. it's not a hard fix, but like i've said...it happens.
  11. the headgasket falls under the EJ25 headgasket issue i believe the foresters are notorious for rear wheel bearings. if they lasted you that long, you're luckier than some. master cylinder sounds odd. knock sensors go bad. it's just what they do. your air intake sensor (i assume you mean mass airflow sensor) shouldn't normally go bad, but sometimes it happens. CVs go bad, like the the knock sensor or wheel bearings, it's just what they do. i don't think that any of that stuff is lemon-worthy. as far as i've gathered, a lemon is a car that a problem, no matter how many time's it's fixed keeps coming back. that's not what any of those are, they're all just wear and tear stuff. your forester's getting to the age where stuff is going to start going bad. once they do and you replace them, you're good for another 100k miles.
  12. a few things that we tell people where i work: tires on an awd/4wd vehicle should all be within 4/32nds of one another. they should all be the same tire because different tread patterns have differing resistance and don't downsize your tires, only upsize. my 96 legacy is supposed to have 195/60R15 on it. it has 205/75R15. that's a 4 size increase.
  13. as long as the lights themselves function proporly. most people who don't own subaru's even know that that button exists, let alone what it does.
  14. take it to a shop and describe the problem. if you don't want to do that then jack up the front and wiggle the wheel left and right and up and down. if it feels loose then you've got some problems.
  15. i got an aiwa stereo for my legacy a few years ago. it broke within a month, got it fixed and it broke again 2 weeks later. i will never buy an aiwa product again.
  16. you're insane...............and i love you.
  17. my legacy at highway speeds. there's gotta be somewhere for wind to escape or else if you slam your door the windows will blow out.
  18. that's where the mystry lies...
