  1. Thanks for all the replies! I'll be sure to stay away from it at the pump.
  2. Hi all. I have a quick question and I'm 99.44% sure the answer is no. Can a 1999 OBW run on E85 fuel? It seems to be $.80 - $1.00 less than 87 octane and we're going on a trip from the middle of WI to Tulsa and that would save a lot of coin. Thanks.
  3. I thought about a metal bumper and skidplate thingy, that would rock! Also I've heard if I were to put Forester springs on my car it would lift it some. Is that true?
  4. So I wrecked my car and need a lot of front end work. I have a 99 OBW, but I don't really want the stock bumper cover. I was curious if the cover on a GT or Brighton was any shorter and if it would fit. I want this for 3 reasons. First I would think the smaller bumper would give me a better approach angle for off-roading. Second I don't have the oem driving lights and don't want to pay to have them replaced when I can get some after market ones instead. And last I think it may save me some cash with a non-Outback cover. I have a $500 deductible and figure after the estimate I'll tell the repair shop not to put in new driving lights because I've heard they are $100 each and the other cover. So that is why I was wondering if all the bumper covers on all the Legacys of that design are interchangeable. Here are some pics of my car Oh yeah, the story. It snowed, as you can see, and the road was slick and I ran into a telephone pole dead center. Thankfully my airbags did not deploy and my radiator is not broken. I was doing snowdrifts all morning and no problems, I drive like I am supposed to and hit a pole, oh well.
  5. Sweet! Thanks guys! It may even help keep my car warmer too
  6. After a few off-road trips, on purpose and accident, my heat shield between the exhaust and driveshaft is all bent and stuff. Now it rubs on my uv joint until I go and bend it around again. So how bad would it be if I were to remove this thin piece of aluminum?
  7. Thanks all! I only do it in the snow so I tell myself it's not as bad then, lol. I am having so much fun with all wheel snow drifts and we are supposed to get another 6" or so tomorrow, woo hoo!!
  8. My OBW has a slushbox so I obviously can't push in the clutch when using the e-brake to do snow drifts, but should I put it in neutral? That is what I have been doing but I was wondering if I have to.
  9. Well I got one off a 96 OBW and will put it on tonight, it was even the same color car. $50 + tax, don't think that is too bad.
  10. Aw come on Lawson, it's not that bad, lol. So does anyone have a spare one laying around?
  11. Just how important is this part? Can I continue driving without hurting my car? I wasn't paying attention and ran off the road and went a bit airborne and landed in a corn, or something, field. It broke on the driver side right by the bushing that holds it to the frame. Right now it's being held together with JB weld and lots of Duct Tape. If it is really important, where is the best place to get one and can they be taken off any 96-99 Legacy? I've been on Jeep trails, jumped my car over an intersection, gone off the beaten path tons of time and a field breaks my car, dammit. The only other damage was breaking my fog lights - they were $45 at Auto Zone cause I broke the OEM ones off roading last year - and lots of grass, mud and crops in my bumpers, lol.
  12. So far the only problem I've had with mine was the cam seals.
  13. Thanks. I like the fact it turns off the lights when the car is turned off. Not that I ever left my lights on, but when you stop to get gas or something it's just cool. My 74 Beetle would turn off the headlights when the car was turned off.
  14. There are 2 at the dealer here in Madison. I can't stand SUVs at all, but this is a Subaru so it's ok. My gf wants to trade in her 1995 Lumina minivan on it. The grille reminds me of an Alfa Romeo. That parking light switch is odd. My car has that too, no idea why.
  15. SWEET!! I love playing in the mud. My engine has mud cooked on it, lol. I've only driven on a frozen lake once and it was covered in a foot of snow, but it was still tons of fun.
  16. Well I took off that metal plate under the scoop and nothing. Maybe if I turn it around it will sorta suck air from the front and cool off the engine. I saw that on a WRX with a FMIC on a video.
  17. Well I got those 4 tip platinum plugs, they sucked. I got the Subaru ones, they are awesome. And about $10 a plug
  18. I changed the plugs in my car, then had to change them again cause I got the wrong ones. It seems you can only use Subaru Platinum plugs and nothing else or your car runs like poo. So after changing them twice in 2 days I can get all 4 changed in about an hour. It sucks, really bad.
  19. I just got some Aegis LS4 tires and so far so good. Nothing but dry pavement testing so far though.
  20. What is the differance between a J lip and a JJ lip? Do all 5 bolt Subaru wheels fit on all 5 bolt Subaru hubs?
  21. Well I got a flat the other day and had to get new tires. After a lot of research I went with the Yokohama Aegis LS4 tires. Hope they work as good as everyone says. So what does everyone else have?
  22. Time to do some cutting under my hood. I'm sure if water gets into the actual throttle body that would be bad. Does anyone make an aftermarket short ram intake for the EJ25 on a 99 OBW? Hey Meeky, how many miles are on your OB? Any major problems I should look out for? Thanks.
