I'm doing the same swap and was wondering the same thing. Round plug in a square hole?

Anyone tried these or anything like them? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2480716544&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Thanks DG The reason I ask. The 86 Brat I picked up for a song and not even a full dance, that has a smoked clutch and I can't get it in 1st. gear. Most likely why the clutch is gone. I can get it to go in low range and everything else in the drivetrain seems to work like it should. Have you run into this before? Is there an easy fix for this or should I just put in the 5sp out of a 87 eab2 parts car I bought?

What is the weakest link in Gen 2 Brats drivetrain?

GD Then we pretty much agree. Craven

GeneralDisorder A gasoline engine is just an air pump. The volume of air it can move is dictated by the displacment, Volumetric Efficiency and RPM. You can put as big a carb as you want on an engine as long as the air/fuel mix is correct and engine will pull only as much air as it can. Too big of carb and on the road and feel your throttle response go away and your low-speed power drop off. That's because big carbs have trouble metering fuel correctly at low thottle openings and will subsequently make less power down low, which is where you spend most of your time driving, unless you only drive at the Dragstrip. I'm not saying a Weber is to big by any means, but you are only using 180 CFM or so out of the 330 the weber can supply. I think you are confusing low end torque with thottle response. The Weber is a very good carburator and regulates the fuel mix far better than the stock piece it replaces. Craven

What I've been finding out here and over the web, the weber dgv is around 330 cfm and that not all holley 5200's are the same. Some Fords R7343 with 23mm primary venturi were rated at 235 CFM and the R9228 with 26mm primary venturi 280 CFM. The 5210 (same basic carb) that came on some of the Chevy Vega's were 250 cfm. Holley states 280 cfm for most of the 5200s except the R7343. All of which are more than a stock or slighty modifyed 1800 needs. Using the cfm calculator here http://www.carbs.net/calc.asp and using a equation from Donlson air cleaners 180 cfm is all you should need. Unless you wind your engine higher than 6000 rpm.

I just put that up for grins. I had a 500 Holley (non progressive)on my 68 Mustang with a 289 c.i. and was more than enough carb for the stock engine. At 2 1/2 times the c.i. of a 1800 Subaru I do believe it would be way to much.

Anyone looking a very big progressive 2 barrel carb. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=317&item=3183705197 or this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=317&item=3183705263

Just wondering if anybody knows the CFM of a 32/36 DGEV weber carb?

So thats why I never see any!!!

Seem's like you fellers in WA. state, have the corner market on cheap Pug wheels. You don't see any Peugeot's in the boneyards around here, you don't see any on the roads. I think theres only one dealer in Mi. and thats in Detroit. While you west coast guys have gobs of dealerships = more pugs in the boneyards. Around here most people don't even know what a peugeot is. They think it's some sort of French dessert, flower, pig or something.

Do a search here http://www.gandjimport.com/inventory.htm there's quite a few places with pugs of all sizes. I'm just going to spend $10 or so for studs and nuts and drill the hubs for 6 lug bolts. Then most older Japanize truck, suv or Chevy1/2 ton 4/4 wheel will fit. There is a lot more of these wheels of many differant styles out there, than the $ Pugs. Craven

I emailed George at george@sunsetcoachmen.com about Peugeot 505 wheels. He only deals in Peugeots and this is what he sent me. Steel wheels in either size are $35 each. 14" alloys are $60 each. 15" alloys in the flat-spoke style are $75 each. George This is his web site http://www.sunsetcoachmen.com/ Craven

Here's another bone yard full of Pugs. http://www.athens.net/~macjava/Peugotpage.html
-
Anyone try here? http://www.sunsetcoachmen.com/ The only thing they have in their salvage yard, are Peugeots.
-
Their web page says they have some. http://www.wheelcollision.com/peugeot1.html

Found some more. http://ackerwheel.com/wheels-rims/Peugeot/Peugeot-505-wheel.html

This place sells 15" Peugeot wheels. They seem a bit high priced, but they are rare. http://www.capitalwheels.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=4690&cat=&page=1

Search the bone yards for a 80's Mazda SR5 pickup, most came with painted wheels. If your talking stock Subaru 14" wheels, I don't think they made such an animal, for the 4 lug.
-
I've got a set of these, only the painted ones going on my Brat. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2479418181&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT The offset is close to the same. Even the Subaru center caps fit these like they were made for a Subaru.
