I'd give the guys at Delta a call and see what they recommend for your setup. www.deltacam.com Craven

my new console set-up with the 5 speed...

I found a radio surround out of an 80's Mazda pickup, at my friendly local bone yard today. That I believe after a little triming should fit and look quite nice. -

Looking good!!! What car did the radio part of the console come from? It doesn't look like my Brat piece. I need to find a piece to tie the dash to the console, might just have to fab one. Here's a couple of picks at what been done so far. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/member.php?uid=4453 -

Thanks to the people of this forum, my Brat went down the road today with 5 forward gears. I got the 86 Brat from a friend for a song and a dance with a smoked clutch and no first gear. Then I found a 87 GL 3dr 5sp d/r in a bone yard and bought the whole car, thinking easy trans switch and away we go. Well after reading, searching, reading alot more and asking questions here on this site, I have moved the trans, driveshaft, shifters, console and seats from the 3dr to my Brat. Used the ea82 clutch disk and throwout bearing with the brat flywheel and pressure plate. Built a carrier bearing mount and replaced the nonreplacable rear U-joint with a Rockford 430-10 that a local drive shaft place had on their self. Used the ea82 header-Y pipe with a cat that seems to be hollow, because it has larger dia. pipes than the Brat had. Now that the drivetrain seems to be working just fine, its time to tackle the body. A little rust a couple of dings and a coat of paint. I think it will be great little Ride. Thanks again for all your help. Craven

No, that more than likely means it's time for a new clutch. and while your at it, change the rear crankshaft seal.

After looking a Qman's and building mine, I have a question. Why didn't Subaru build the mounting tabs strait like most carrier bearings I seen and changed on trucks and such? Instead of the strange angles that thay are at. Hell I thought mine was bent or something. -

The driveshaft is in the tunnel, stock location. -

Just seems the older I get, the less the old harddrive in the head works as well as it did.

The 2 tranny mounts on a Gen2 Brat are a little different, one is wider than the other. When I bored out the holes to fit the 5sp, I don't know if I put them back on the correct sides. DAH. Must be the blond hair turned gray type of thing. Does the wider mount go on the drivers side of the trans or vise versa?

The swap went well, I used the trans, driveshaft, clutch disk, shifters and consol from a 87 3door. About all thats left to do is make some sort of radio surround to tie the 3dr console into the the Brat dash. Just need a Rockford u-joint for the driveshaft and it will be up and running.

I did a search and found alot of info. I think maybe I can come up with a fix using a U-joint with inner C-clips.

Whats up with the rear u-joint on a 87 3dr 4x4. How in the hell do you change it? Craven

wheel & lug pattern question...again
Craven replied to the goat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Soobs and Pugs are 4 lugs on a 140mm bolt circle( the distance between the two opposite lugs), most all of the rest have a smaller bolt circles 100mm, 114mm and so on. -
Any news on the wiring change over?

Just a hunk of 3/16" steel rod longer than shaft is round should do, they come out fairly easy. Just make sure you drive them out from the dimple side of the shaft.
